Thanks, JT! Love the intro and the peaceful sound of the rain. Man, I need to listen to The Who more. Riders On The Storm kicks ass. That cover of Thunderstruck is so cool. Bluegrass Metal!!!!
They're a Finnish band ! I tried out a 90-second clip of AC DC " Thunderstruck" .. It got blocked. This worked out better, anyway. Another killer thread, Chris.. And Long live rock n roll ! 🤘
Hello, Mike.. At first I remembered "Reign On Me" as the last track of the album, when in fact.. It's the last track on the A side ! Back in the day, I often listened to the a side, only.. I used to burn through albums left and right, and having fun with my records. Glad that you have seen that terrific AC DC cover !
In Pete's words of describing the meaning, and title of this epic song.. a double meaning, word play .. Reign ( rule ) and Jimmy the mod, finding redemption in the pouring rain" In the words of the mighty Peter Townshend ! 🎵 Thanks, Mike. I recently pulled out a nice copy of the Quadrophenia soundtrack from Bill's 👍
I just brought it up on RU-vid.. Terrific song, James ! I picked up a Cascades 45 recently, and I hope I find one of these in my thrifting adventures. Thank you for checking this out..
That is a good choice ! I have Scott Walker and various Walker Bros. on Cd.. But not much on vinyl. Streaming him will work just fine, and I will listen to "It's Raining Today" after dinner. Thanks so much
Killer response JT! Great choices. The Doors song is one of my favorites by them, i like the Garbage song too , nice clip at the end!! Cheers to you my friend 👍🤘🤘
Thunderstruck" !! 🤘 Too bad you can't spin AC DC for Tipsy Tuesday.. Chris does good threads, for sure, I dropped what I was doing to jump in on this one. A very inspiring thread, for sure. Thanks, Aaron
And we know the story of that day in Paris ! Thanks for looking in on this one, I had fun doing it, and at the end I had the original clip of " Thunderstruck" by AC DC..It got blocked, 2nd best worked out just fine, though..
You chose some amazing "rain" songs. Rainy Night in Georgia is an all-timer. But without question, The Doors "Riders on the Storm" is my own personal favorite. I never get tired of hearing it. Nice job JT.
I'm listening now ! Great tune, and I have been picking up a lot of Doo Wop and other early 60's 45's while thrifting. Old music is good music ! Thanks, Ed
A very somber opening to the video JT setting the rain tone! Riders on the Storm never gets old. A true classic! I love The Doors! Thunderstruck bluegrass/jug band style was a real surprise!
I used s 90 second clip of AC DC " Thunderstruck" at the end, and it didn't fly.. Blocked ! This worked out better, anyway. That band is out of Finland. I had seen it before. The full video is awesome ! Thanks, Mike 🎵
Ahhh, you know Hayseed Dixie ! They guys are actually out of Finland. Steve n Seagulls. Thank you, Mike. I love Pete's masterpiece ( one of many ) Love Reign Over Me and the entire Quadrophenia performance with Jimmy the mod in the pouring rain towards the ending..
Hi JT, gr8 video! Nice selections. I was expecting The Rain song by Led Zeppelin, but cool to see Acka Dacka in there at the end! I remember that bluegrass version.
@jtsrecordroom3963 Hey that's great! An awesome album. Yes it would've been a difficult list to narrow down! Sorry I haven't dropped by lately for a view, been very busy and had a hiatus from RU-vid for a while! I've been playing with a new band which takes up a fair bit of my spare time. Hoping to upload some footage soon. Cheers.
Andrew.. No problem at all, and good to hear from you ! Sean and I have been watching film footage from South Australia lately.. Maybe someday soon ! Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales ! We had better stay for at least a month ! Haha Cheers
You need to watch the full video of Steve n Seagulls "Thunderstruck" when you have a chance.. And don't forget to give it some volume. It reveals what a good and well written song it is ! Have a good week, Mark My nephew is in town off tour from Europe.. Rivers Of Nihil. I might take Sean down there just to watch Jared's massive drum kit get set-up
Hi JT!!! great response to Chris's thread and killer picks too..... "Riders on ...." is one the best songs ever recorded by the Doors, nice to see some Garbage and the last one.....priceless!!! cheers and be well
I uploaded AC DC " Thunderstruck" first I got completely blocked ! Plan B was better.. because those Finnish guys rule !! I had seen that video. before, and I thought.. Perfect ! I've been watching a lot of AC DC lately.. I love that band ! Thanks, Cristian
So cool entry JT 😊 Oh, love both the Who and Doors song of course. Did you see mine? I went with a Norwegian take, but it was very hard for me not to include «Why Does It Always Rain On Me» by Travis! 😊
No, I didn't see yours.. I will have a look in a bit. This is a Finnish band at the end covering Thunderstruck" I love it, their whole performance of it is awesome ! Thanks a lot 🤘
I had to do this thread ! Chris always creates good ones, Steve. That is a Finnish band at the end.. I had seen the vid before, as it is wildly popular. Are you back in the inland empire ?
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Still in Taos. We’ll be home on Monday. I actually was able to participate in the Rain Songs thread with the small amount of records I have up here in Taos. Incredibly I the 5 records/songs I shared I found just last week digging up here in Taos.
I'm coming up with the Beatles Rain and Graham Parker's (Lovers get caught just the same in the) Thunder and Rain, and Tina Turner's I Can't Stand the Rain.
Coincidentally.. I almost went with " Rain" by The Beatles, and I love Graham Parker music, I will listen to it ! Who else did " I Can't Stand The Rain".. I'm pretty sure Etta James did a great rendition as well ! Nice ones 🎵
Nice Blade Runner at the start Jt. Reign...nice cheat 😂 Tony Joe White & Garbage are inspired choices. I think Mal & Angus originally composed it on banjo 🤣
Ben.. You are the only one to give a nod to Vangelis and one of my all-time favorite films Blade Runner ! I ran the original AC DC Thunderstruck, and of course they blocked it completely.. 2nd choice worked out even better with this killer Finnish band. The full vid is pretty amazing, and shows what a well written tune Thunderstruck is ! Sean and I are off to see cousin Jared.. Metal Blade recording artist for Rivers Of Nihil. Check out for 1 minute his beautiful clear kit on the video.. Rivers Of Nihil "A Home" shot in a warehouse.. You Tube of course !
I have been getting comments about "Love Reign O'er Me" on my little video.. In Pete's words.. The Song has a great deal to do with the rain.. Cleansing Jimmy as he was having a personal crisis.. With nothing left to live for, he finds redemption in the pouring rain" In the words of the mighty Mr. Townshend. Part of his genius with his lyrics, a double meaning.. Reign, and rain
And of course we can't forget Burt Bacharach's Raindrops keep falling on my head. And John Hiatt's Feels Like Rain and who can forget Bob Dylan's It's a Hard Rain's Gonna Fall?
Absolutely ! All 3 are amazing, and I have been listening to John Hiatt lately. I don't know about you, but I am a massive Dylan fan, and that was just a figure of speech because I know... You are too ! 👍 Burt Bacharach, having Dionne sing most of his songs, is just terrific
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Thanks. I just spun my Hwy 61 sacd today. So you got me there! 2 runner ups for me, REM I'll take the rain, and Rosanne Cash It's raining in my heart. Keep'em spinning! I'll check out some of your picks I'm not familiar with!
@mondoenterprises6710 SACD very cool ! I was just telling my partner at work about them.. He didn't get it ! Haha 😆 My Blu ray player spins them in our living room. " Highway 61" .. Nice ! Thanks for checking out some of my picks..
Love REM ! And I haven't heard that Rosanne Cash song in a long time, I'll give it a listen tonight. My Samsung Blu Ray player spins SACD's ( I have 15 or so, I guess ?
Why didn't I wear rain coat for my video!!?! end of this video!!! :D I have seen them live. And they were awesome summer festival band. I can recommend them for almost everyone. mr. Finglish (Bäd English Recs)
Yeah Recs.. I got into the theme of things on this great Chris thread ! So many possibilities. I don't do as many contests or threads anymore, but I still fit a few in. Too cool that you saw these boys from Finland live ! Their video is off the hook incredible ( I had to watch the mighty AC DC afterwards ) 🤟
OK.. I'm alright with Barry, and Wayne. Very big stars those two. My Brother In Law ( drummer ) did 2 world tours with Englebert in the early 1990's. Good work, and very good money ! Thanks for watching..
Absolutely.. and it is an obvious one, for sure ! Houses Of The Holy is my favorite Zep LP.. These are the ones I thought of, its not a top 5 or a ranking video of the very best rain songs.. Just 5 songs about the rain, and there are tons ! Thanks, Doug 👍
a 105 degrees everywhere or where you were living? I can't picture before global warming that lower state New York was at 105? I can see 88 degrees. what a classic year 1971 was? no cell phones, no answering machines, no online banking , no online shopping 4 record stores plus 4 electronic stores. it was released around June third 1971? do kids and adults say 50 year olds know how to turn up the volume? the way music is supposed to be heard? A band that needs no introduction i'm going to guess the Beatles? I guess it was a cover of Ac/dc!!!!!
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Why does one get blocked and the other one goes through? your not stealing anything from Ac/dc why is there a problem? I could see there point if you recored a concert from say 1981 and you didn't have permission for the copy right this I can see but the other side I don't understand?
I'm not sure why Mark. I think some bigger channels ask permission to use this or that. It's a bit complicated, I don't sweat it, though, or ever mention on my channel with what I go through to create each video.. I like making little films, so .. No.problem ! 🎵
Ahh, I get it. " Love Reign Over Me" is the last track on the A side. I always remember this as if it's the last song of the album. Back in the day.. I would often listen to side one only ! 🎵
@@jtsrecordroom3963 I was going to tell a story of my first time hearing Riders on the Storm after watching Tom Snyder interview a hitmam when I was 8.
