In honor of 20 years of Wicked the Musical, we wanted to sing the full version of one of our first mashups! From Left to Right: @sophiajamesmusic @kaysibal Jeong-Soo Park, Abe Soane
Humans were put on this earth to make art like this. Art like this makes me glad to be alive. Thank you for creating such beautiful showcase of humanity, and for reiterating the importance of art in our world that often belittles it.
I never thought I’d get chills at Go the Distance, but dear God. Boys killed that song. Then the girls joined with Defying Gravity and I think there was an out of body moment.
I cant think of two more perfect songs that capture the traditional herione & hero arc. Heriones are typically have to "break the mold", go against social expectations etc, in order to do something previously thought impossible. Where as the heros journey tends to be an average joe or "the least likely" hero living up to an impossible ideal and finally proving his worth. Anyway, I cant think of many duets that harmonize masculine and femanine perspective so beatifully. These songs feel like they were always meant to be together. Well done.
This is a wonderful love letter to one of the songs of my childhood. "Go the distance" was one of those songs that I would sing along with whenever I heard it and its message touched me all the way down to the core. I've always struggled with finding friends and keeping them around due to moving much in my life. So this young, anxious and socially awkward kid sat in his room every now and then, wheeping while singing this song. And here I go, unable to hold back tears because you did it such incredible justice with this mash-up. It is absolutely beautiful. And no. Not much has changed, I still don't have a truly functioning social life but I found the place where I belong with the woman of my dreams. Seeing my two beautiful daughters growing up I just hope that they will never associate the same thing with this song once I introduce them to it. All the best wishes from Germany. ❤
So creative! You managed to get those rhythms to work together even though they're very different. I would have had to concentrate so hard to sing one of those choruses at the same time as the other!
The blend between Jeong and Abe is just absolutely divine. Jeong’s voice is so buttery smooth - it’s like enjoying hot chocolate and marshmallows in a warm cloud. Awesome arrangement and concept! Thanks for sharing your music with us all ❤
you can tell youtube's algorithm doesn't understand me because it waited 4 months to recommend this to me (but it has no problems recommending endless things I don't want and never click on lol). this is so cool!
Seriously made me cry with how amazing you all sound and how well the songs mashup. Go the Distance is my favorite disney song and Defying Gravity is definitely in the higher ranges as well for me. Didnt expect this and it warms my heart that there are amazingly talented people like you four in this world
Your version/arrangement of this mashup/conversation is the best. So sincere, genuine and honest. Plus you all have the most heartwarming singing voices. Thank you for sharing and bringing so much joy to our lives.
These are two of my favorite songs, and this may be the most beautiful mashup I’ve ever heard. Your gorgeous voices + the way the songs are intertwined = perfection.
I am weeping. This is a balm. All four timbres are just perfectly flowing, swooping, supporting each other… 2:52 twist above was a counterpoint to the build-up of fly in 2:32… got here through the Pentatonix mash-up
WTF? What happened here? This took me to a gorgeous trip in diverse fantasy worlds through skies and oceans. What a trsnsformative performance! Goosebumps everywhere!
this is the greatest video to ever grace RU-vid, I sobbed during that end, I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the best vocal performance of any song mashup I've ever heard, goosebumps at every part, also on a side note but Sophia's tone is so beautiful, I can't put into words how much I love this video
OMG You guys, early on I got goosebumps and then felt myself tearing up half way through the song. This is one of those magical arrangements that was obviously teleported down from the heavens to you four who sang it so beautifully with your exquisite voices. This is the most perfect encore that I can imagine. Thank you for this gift.
There are no words. 🥺 I got teary-eyed a few times thru the video and then the end… I cried 😅 This is seriously so beautiful 🥹🥹🥹 And these two songs together?! Genius!!
what a fantastic idea, beautiful voices and harmonies, and the passion for your music is so clear. the way you guys looked at each other while singing was just the icing on the cake. it’s clear there’s a lot of love you guys have for each other (platonic or otherwise)
This is so unbelievably beautiful; you guys have sang into my very soul. Thank you for the amazing harmonics. May your friendships and your voices be forever cherished.
Oh this made me shed mad tears! My algorithm knew exactly what I needed😭! I refreshed and this masterpiece was right at the top! Everyone of their voices are stellar along, but together they are insane. Also, the woman on the far left’s tone literally made me scream out loud.
The story behind this conversation: four closeted queer people found each other the day before CSD. They were afraid to go out in public the next day but they support each other and finally decide to show the world who they are the next day ❤ (there's also some 'falling in love' happening)
Oh. My. God. I can’t. That was amazing. Better than anything I could have imagined. I thought, wow what a cool concept! And then you sang. 🫠🫠🫠 bravi!!! I will be listening to this on repeat for the rest of my days, thank you.
