I think the drums on the intro and outro to I Must Be In Love sound like the drums on Ticket to Ride. That’s the fun thing about the Rutles - almost every Rutles song has elements of LOTS of Beatles songs, and everyone spots different ones! (As demonstrated quite nicely by this comments section.)
i thought the same thing, it's not uncommon to hear lots of different beatles songs because a lot of them are basically "mashup" parodies instead of direct parodies of specific songs. P.S. HOLY FLIP JAY FOREMAN
When I watched the Rutles, I could tell what 'With a Girl Like You' was supposed to be, plus I could hear The Beatles chords in a few other songs as well. The songs for this movie were so perfectly based off Beatles songs, yet also original. I was SO impressed! It took a lot of talent from whoever wrote those parody songs, and it made The Rutles even better.
The music for 'All You Need Is Cash' (the Rutles mockumentary movie) and the album that came with it was made by Neil Innes, the guy who played Ron Nasty in the movie!
Neil Innes wrote the SOngs, he was also Brave Sir Robin's Minstrel in Monty Python and the Holy Grail ♫♪ Brave Sir Robin ran away, bravely ran away away ♫♪
@@soapybsudsBaby Let Me Be feels like She Loves You as there’s a French version of the Rutles’ song called Baby S’il Vous Plait and the Beatles did Sie Liebt Dich
When the first Rutles TV film came out in the USA, I was 21, I knew instantly what they were doing and what songs they were channeling...it was so good you could almost feel that the Beatles were releasing songs they recorded but turned down to release...I was laughing through the whole film. When John Belushi of SNL showed up as Allen Klein, I fell off the couch laughing. I thought "Perfect! No one else could parody that jerk but him." then George Harrison showed up as a reporter on the street...Oh God...too funny...
The "When I fell for you.." part of Number One reminds me more of "It Won't Be Long" or "Hold Me Tight" The intro/outro to I Must Be In Love sounds like Ticket To Ride's riff. I hear a lot of "You're Going to Lose That Girl" in "Between Us" as well. I also get a "Octopus's Garden" vibe from the guitar, drums, and middle 8 on "Living In Hope"
Definitely do a pt.2!!! One thing I love is the "She Loves You" bit at the end of "All You Need is Love", and how the Rutles similarly put the "Hold My Hand" part in "Love Life" - singing it the same way, of course.
My car happened to randomly play Octopus's Garden today after I had read this comment last night - as soon as the intro started I realized ... you are absolutely right.
You know, the beginning of With a girl like you kinda sounded like Devil in her heart, and I must be in love sounds also sounds a bit like If I needed someone, at least that's what they remind me
Yes please :) Longtime fan of both. Nice work! (BTW yes Fataar did play with the Beach Boys, however you showed footage of another guest player, Blondie Chapman, who sang 'Sail on Sailor.) Also-check out 'Archealogy,' and 'Lunch,' their answers to Anthology and Circus Olea Love
The ruddles a very fine parody of The Beatles it looks like a wonderful show to watch I may have seen this a long time ago or I may have never seen it at all but it looks like a comedy tribute to The Beatles which is a parody that's all right with me very good. 3:00
