I grew up with Marcus's dad Marvin in the late 60's and early 70's. We both played and jammed guitar in the 9th grade and in high school and both went on to play in local bands in Greenville S.C. and the surrounding area. I first met Marcus many years later when he kicked my butt at a local Guitar Center Blues Guitar Contest. I liked him immediately but had no idea that he would become the musical icon that he is today. Small world.
Very happy to know there’s an album in the works featuring the Marcus King Band! I enjoy the solo albums, but the MKB is something I need to hear more of!
Marcus King is surely not a musician hiding behind studio wizardry. He can belt out a guitar/vocal version of any of his songs in a snap. His singing and guitar playing make me feel equally in awe as well.
Been a fan of Marcus for years. This young man is the real deal, and one helluva rare talent. A true artist that wears his heart on his sleeve, so we can feel it through his music.
Marcus, just wanted to tell you personally, you along with everyone here on earth with us are doing Gods will. Thank you for playing your part while being a gost in the machine.
Got to meet Marcus in 2023 at one of his shows. The total package. I'm glad to see he's back to writing 'his' style of song and hope it continues. The new album is like a Carolina Confessions II, but possibly even better.
I'm definitely hearing the Sir Paul influence in Delilah. Great song. Great key wok and of course, you know the guitar work is going to be awesome, and it is. Great album, Marcus!
Great video Marty!! I’ve been following Marcus since his first record… he is the real deal man… the future of the blues is in these guys hands now ❤ 🎸🎸🎸
I got to meet Marcus unexpectedly in the back alley of the Top Hat in Missoula, MT probably 8-9 years ago. What a humble guy, so sweet and down to earth. Love this guy. Great interview.
Woah, this is cool surprise. Great interview. I randomly discovered Marcus King a few years back, when I came across his video of "Dyin" and his performance of "Summertime" with Billy Strings. I don't know which song I discovered first. I discovered them both artists around the same time. I'm not heavy in pure blues, but I love his song "Dyin".
My Niece is a big fan of Marcus. I just sampled his new album... sounds kinda soul or mo-town like... which is alright. This here reminds me of the Allman brothers. And he plays Jazz too. That's a whole lot more than most musicans these days.
Thank you M&M's aka Marcus and Marty. Very nice. You sound great Marcus 👍 Thank you for sharing your time. I love your dog! He is awesome! Marty, as always, fantastic content sir! 💯 Thank you very much for this! 😀
One thing you can say about Marcus is there is no one like him. His playing is outstanding but his voice is God given and perfect for this genre. He was bor to do this in my opinion.
Please do another video in more detail. I'm watching this at work and idk if I'm skilled enough to learn the song through just this video. Also "This Far Gone" from the same album please. I'd love to learn both.
Hey Marty could you do an updated video on the Epiphone Les Pauls? They’ve changed a lot since your last video 5 years ago. Looking to buy one and wanted your feedback 😁
Marcus King is great. Why is the camera man focused on his face?? Show the guitar playing!! It’s a guitar channel. If a man sits down to play guitar, you want to see him play guitar not a close-up of his face. Please
Marcus Lee is a rock star. I was thinking, the dog probably can't play, or maybe he was just holding out for a ham sandwich. Maybe they could do like a trade off there. Good music Marty.
@MartyMusic, were you travelling from Nashville to San Diego on SWA on March 30? If not, I ran into your doppelganger on the flight. I didn't wanna bug you, but was pretty sure it was you. Marcus rules! Saw him in LA a couple weeks back. Thanks for the awesome videos!
Just saw him in Reno last weekend. It was a great show but my wife and I were bummed and confused by him not playing Mood Swings. It's the name of the tour and the album and the first song, why not play it??
Hey, Marcus/Marty; that's exactly the kind of dog I've been looking for; can y'all tell me what breed or breeds he is? I love his vibe and he's just the right size for me. Great players, keep up the good work, Marty!
Hey Marty, thanks for all the amazing videos! Questions are on point and the conversational vibe is a joy to watch, thanks to you! Could you tell me what amp Marcus plays through here? His tone is so snappy, which of course comes from his fingers and incredible vintage axe, but I wonder if the amp is adding to that bright and shiny tone.
