Season Two: Bonus Episode
Show Notes: Hilo composer/musician Brandon Nakano discusses his new single “Our Kuleana,” which features multiple award-winning artists as well as up-and-coming musicians from Hawaiʻi Island. In an effort to help stop the spread of COVID-19, Nakano sent out a request to the music community for assistance on the recording, and the response he got was incredible.
Known informally as the Alohaland Collaborative, Nakano was joined by Kainani Kahaunaele, Will Kauhane, Braddah Waltah Aipolani, Mark Yamanaka, Ira Keakaualua, Chris Carbarloc, and Preston Paulo. The musicians included Emma Coloma-Nakano on bass, Alan Gebin on keys, CJ Kama on drums, and Brandon Nakano on ʻukulele and guitars.
