Thanks for breaking down Illella by Mamamoo, one of the most talented and fascinating groups in kpop. It seemed like you're not familiar with MMM so you might want to check out more of their music. They've been around since 2014 and they're generally considered to be the premier female vocal group in kpop. Mamammoo's discography as a group and as solo artists is extremely diverse, ranging from jazz, r&b, hip hop and latin pop to bossa nova, ballads, reggaeton dance tracks like Illella and more.
Mamamoo is known as vocal queens of kpop. In case you wanna dig more into them, you could react to Mamamoo Killing Voice where they sang snipets many of their hits LIVE. These girls are versatile & did a wide range of genres. Thanks reacting to Mamamoo.
@@thebillboard500club 'Mr Ambiguous' which is their debut song. It has that jazzy feeling in it that is not really common in kpop. Then 'Piano Man', 'Ahh Oop'. If you want something more rythmic I recommend 'Hip', 'Starry Night', 'Egoistic', 'Gogobebe', 'Yes I am', 'Decalcomanie' to start with. 'Windflower' is a must :) There are over 360+ songs in this groups discography if you include all of their individual works. Anyways, hope you enjoy them 🙆♀️
pls check out 1, 2, 3 eoi. it's in the same album as illella. other good songs are destiny, diamond and spring fever. i think they have good song structures(?) that would be interesting to check out for songwriters 😊
Thanks very much for doing a rundown of a MAMAMOO song (and I applaud the excellent taste of whoever brought this song to your attention!). IMHO, MAMAMOO are, speaking from a purely musical standpoint, on par with the Beach Boys, U2, Madonna, Nine Inch Nails, Rihanna, etc. In other words, they are the 1-percenters of their field. Their primary producer, Kim Do Hoon, is a bonafide songwriting genius (in fact he debuted MAMAMOO at a private party to no less than Quincy Jones). In the K-pop world, BTS and Blackpink are the most famous acts right now, but MAMAMOO...all things being equal, MMM should be right up there with those groups. The reason why MAMAMOO are not on everyone's lips today is primarily because their label is essentially an indie label, run by Kim Do Hoon himself (kind of as a vanity project). Therefore, they don't have the funding to promote internationally. Also of course, the language barrier... Anyways, I could gush about MAMAMOO for ages, but if you are curious about more of their "too much to unpack" songs with killer hooks I highly recommend you check out songs like HIP, Wind Flower, Dingga Dingga, Destiny, Where Are We Now, Egostistic, Yes I Am...(the list is long! 😂). Or just do a search for "Mamamoo Killing Voice" and you will get a jaw-dropping live medley.
Mammamoo is among the few artists who sound better live than on video with all the related production. Check out Immortal Songs Medley (all covers, but gives you a sense of their command of voices and audience) and Dingo Killing Voice for medley of their own hits. They are on tour in the USA soon, and I'll be among the senior moo moos in attendance.
Anything Mamamoo related will be interesting, but the girls themselves have said Decalcomanie is their most difficult song, and is a fan favorite (including mine), so your take on it would be very interesting.
Hi Emily, liked a couple of your songs which are now on one of my play lists. Mamamoo have works which I think will give you inspiration and ideas so they are well worth looking into either privately or on channel.
