I still can’t get over they’d known each other only a few weeks before recording this album & did it (I believe) in 36 hours. Incredible. Loved LED Zep since early 1970’s when I was 6-7;yrs old. Seen Plant & Page in 90’s (fantastic, with oriental orchestra) but devastated missed out on Celebration Day tickets which sold out as soon as on sale !

That right to left deal in the speakers is kind if a blues adaptation played on guitar. It's called "call and response" and was originally done vocally .

Every Led Zeppelin song is either about Sex, Vikings, or Hobbits. LOL

A song about an affair Robert was having with his sister-in-law Shirley.....they dated before Robert married Maureen, and after Robert divorced Maureen they dated again, but never married. A song we always listened to at high school parties, huddled on the floor, ears against the speakers.

All good observations and I would add that his phrasing in the verses is just phenomenal. He's all over the beat and he makes it sound so organic but if you break it down, it's incredibly rhythmically precise. This in turn totally sets you up for the chorus where he switches to just singing really hard right on the downbeat in a really repetitive manner. It's like he totally sets you up to switch up his flow. Also it's one of my favorite bass lines. Along with ramble on.

I remember my older brother and his friends sitting around the living room, candles burning stuck in wine bottles, stoned out of their mind and just vegging out to this song…… once again you bring me back to such wonderful memories…. By all means...take...your...time! I don't know about other bands but with Zep, the time you invest will pay multiple dividends. The song facts you read are correct, this song was about the affair Robert had already had or was having with his sister in law. The "ooooo" chorus was all of them harmonizing together. Here are some credos for their music in general: light and shade, tight but loose, whisper to the thunder. Knowing and understanding the various meanings of how these apply to Zep's music will stand you in good stead. Trust me when I tell you that you can listen to these songs repeatedly and still find nuances you hadn't noticed before. Not only is the musicality so off the hook that you can't take it in on first listen, but the music itself gets rooted into mind, body, and spirit so the same song will mean different things to you depending on any given situation.

Great song, achieves that epic feel in just a few minutes. Can't wait for the Lemon Song!

Funny how the greatest classic rock was created by the pioneers. These early bands were not just a collective of insane talent, they were the ones who worked the hardest, and to make the new sound, they studied all types of music and put that knowledge to use. More than a tough act to follow, it seemed impossible, most of what came along in the late 70's through 80's was horrible. We were at the mercy of big money promoters who's only concern was to cash in on what bands like Zeppelin, the Beatles, Stones, Hendrix and Cream started. If you study what these musicians said about their musical influences, and who they respected as contemporarys, you will find all the right material. Thanks again for your great work!

What is and should never be, hate, war, bigotry, sickness...I could go on, but it's depressing! So, I'll just listen and puff away...Good day to you all.

It's about that timeless push and resist and ultimate surrender between a man and a woman. What I've always understood about this song is that it's a conversation between a man and a woman. The man trying to convince the woman to throw caution to the wind and just "go for it" while his woman is objecting and telling him why it wont work. He gives a few reasons and she keeps repeating herself until he throws up his hands and says the answer lies with you and it'll happen if we go slow and take our time. ...and isn't that how it often goes between men and women?
