Great vid! And what settings did you use in particular? I'm very curious cause setting 2x resolution on my 2070S causes awful flickering, which disappears only whhen I use original cache.arc (which is still shit-performance) or turn off vsync, but then the game triples the speed (haha E3 vibes)?

@@4ndrelus I did DX12, optimized renderer, without 2x resolution. (I had same issues with 2x res, vulkan also has some issues) So I think this is the best you can get.

@@EpicGamer-69 I liked his gameplay style but I just wish he was a bit faster. Idk Silver was slow as shit but even compared to Sonic, Shadow just felt sluggish.

I think they really nailed Shadow's gameplay in Black Knight. Though I also enjoy the take on the fangame Sonic 2020.

Right! Shadow is my favorite character to play as in 06 especially since it’s the last time in a cannon game (the way they short sticked him in Sonic Forces does not count at all)

The game had some good ideas, but they weren’t able to decide on what exactly they wanted to do, so they rebuilt the game several times, and ended up running out of time

@A guy with an anime Profile Pic Because I can I remember being very confused as a kid about the chaos blast in this game. It was even written in the manual! It only worked when Shadow was literally touching another NPC. Glad I found another person talking about this specially haha

@A guy with an anime Profile Pic Because I can hahahaha, made my day. Chaos spear was kinda meh too, it only paralyzed enemies. I also kinda remember one of sonic’s shoe gems that when activated it triggers a transformation animation that I assume it was for super sonic but never did anything at all.

@@MeisterSegarra I believe in the original game once Shadow enters that Fever state he could damage opponents with his Chaos Spears.

He basically does all this, flames out of his shoes while floating would look cooler though.

I agree. I wish they got to polish this kind of gameplay more and stuck with it in future games. Shadow is perfect for a speed/combat hybrid.

Shadow in 06 is just a better version of him in Shadow the Hedgehog.

Yeah I think Shad in 06 was one of the best written characters in the game. (Mephiles was the best. I miss him.)

Why he worked without any weird fellings with GUN in this game now that we are talking about 06 Shadow. Like, I dont know, you could say Rouge convinced him. But for that 06 has to happen in the same timeline as Battle for example or Heroes, in both Rouge says she know the presindent and is an agent. That would be likely, id ir wasn't for things like two chaos esmeralds were keeped for years by Elise and Mephiles. So any sonic game were this were used don't happened the same way. All things that apear to be inconsistencia could have been solver if there was a flashback or something that let the palmer know that this is a diffeent timepline forma the prior games. Were many things don't happened and the character meet in diferent ways.

Shadow used to be badass because being badass wasn’t his only character trait.

'06 Shadow is a perfect example of a character defined by the past, but who doesn't let it control them. A definite and radical improvement over the constant repetition of his SA2 story in shoddier ways as was the case in Heroes and ShtH; and it starkly contrasts his decay into the personification of EDGE and being a third-rate rival in the modern era. Even him working for G.U.N; the people who murdered Maria in the first place, is a silent show of character growth. After the past titles, he was able to fully accept what had happened in the past and let it go Because of his promise to Maria, his only goal is to protect the world, so of course working alongside an established military organization would give him access to the resources to carry out what he sees as his purpose in life far more efficiently than he could on his own. Even when he learns he can travel through time with the power of the Chaos Emeralds, he chooses to only use that power to try and solve the current crisis, rather than doing anything selfish like trying to go back to the ARK of 50 years ago and trying to save Maria. The context of previous games and Shadow's lack of _direct_ actions relating to them silently shows this version of him as likely the single most mature character in the franchise.

Just so you know Elise and Sonic are not having feelings for each other and Sonic had her sacrifice memories of their friendship so the World can come back, how is it even love if Sonic had her do this? He also just made a gust of wind to remind her of him but Solaris still had her not remember it's Sonic and after 06, there is no confirmation or evidence they have dated but if it was love and they did then it would be true but it doesn't show or mention it, Elise "kissed" Sonic namely to trigger Super Sonic who's made of Positive Chaos Energy which that Energy is triggered by strong emotions but Sonic just hugs for a moment then goes to share energy with Silver and Shadow so if it was love then Sonic would show it and Elise doesn't say "I love you" or anything while Sonic goes up, she holds hands close to her and watches the three fly up but that's just because of how amazing it is and only believes in him to stop Solaris, he saved her from imminent death, showed her what it's like for him when he runs, capable of amazing potential and believes in her regardless of what has happened so what sort of response to expect her to have? Like if you were there in person and was given the same treatment from Sonic himself and saw this happen, you know very well you would have the same feelings, it's not of love but awe, hope, faith and excitement because that's what it is with Sonic.

I feel like the only game where Shadow being a "cheap reskin" is somewhat understandable is Sonic Adventure 2 (and to an extent, Sonic Heroes).

Yeah, but the mechanics of the characters still aren't the best and are nowhere near as fluid and precise as they were in previous games mainly the Adventure games.

Which X Rank Trick? There's Board, Bike, Air Ride, Wheel, Yacht and Skate Type Gears so all are made unique, I can't even see what one you're talking about and where it is.

Imo story was great and so was movement but what needed changing was the VA for sonic.

i personally think the 06 english voice for silver needed to change as he sounded a bit too cheerful whereas in the Japanese, he’s voiced by daisuke ono (jotaro) and sounds pretty menacing

I keep on saying it, Sonic '06's story is fine, people only think it's bad because the gameplay is godawful.

@@mimictear6788 nah nah, the story had its problems, but that's not my issue. The problem with 06's story is Sonic's story. It fodderized the friendship of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, inaccurately portrayed Sonic as a character, and had much less importance to the story when compared to Silver and Shadow. Now, Elise being part of the story isn't a flaw, and her being a main character isn't either. I just think her being as close as she was to Sonic was a little extra, and her getting kidnapped was... well, it was God damn annoying. Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, and Elise were all poorly handled characters, save for Blaze and Sonic never interacting though.

meter is for chaos blast. It drains when you enter it and you can't enter until it's full.

They aren't stopping, you can't stop development as if you make a game, you can't take a break and must animate, code, etc. until it's finished.
