The composer of the original version of the song is Todd Dennis, an employee of Tommy Tallarico Studios, and he is credited for the song in Black Dawn, but "due to some kind of error", Tommy Tallarico himself is credited as composing Molten Mine. It's a wacky mixup with no discernable explanation! The first American to work on Sonic would never lie.

Extended trivia: The reason he thinks there are 10 Chaos Emeralds in Sonic 1 "but you only need to get 6" is most likely due to a mix-up involving the fact that there are 10 possible points where you can enter a Special Stage, as the Giant Ring to enter can appear at the end of any act of the first five zones, resulting in a total of 10 opportunities. However, his mistake is that it is not actually possible to enter the Special Stage 10 times, and there are not even 10 unique Special Stage acts -- Once you collect all 6 Chaos Emeralds that are in this game Giant Rings no longer appear even if you meet the requirements to enter the Special Stage, as there is nothing left to collect in them, so there are not 10 Chaos Emeralds in the game. His misconception likely stems from knowing the first part where there are theoretically 10 opportunities to get a Chaos Emerald, but not the second part where you cannot possibly get over 6. (Or 7, if you are playing with the option for a 7th emerald enabled in the 2013 remaster)

An alarm goes off while the pinch phase is active, which shifts the color palette of the stage to red. EDIT: Grayfruit's also playing a REV0 copy of Sonic 1, which is less polished compared to most other versions of the game. Lives aren't awarded every 50,000 points, the level select shows a beta zone layout, and the infamous "spike bug" exists (getting knocked back into spikes, _by_ spikes, will still hurt you).

2 minutes in and just recalling the research i helped you do for this but I can't believe all 3 of the following exist: Sonic X-treme (cancelled sega saturn game) Sonic Extreme (cancelled xbox skateboarding game) Sonic the Hedgehog Extreme Boarding (Mcdonald's Happy Meal toy with a skateboarding game) And as far as I'm aware none of these have any direct conceptual relation beyond sonic being there. There was a period of time where sega needed to be banned from using the word Extreme because they kept using it in random places and it's now a whole ordeal to look up any one of these except for Sonic X-treme because everything gets autocorrected to Sonic X-treme
