The best thing about this video (skip the beginning, its just waiting time) is, its a very good selection of music to listen, when studying or doing something else.
I saw this show last night in Chicago. It was incredible from beginning to end. So much energy and nostalgia! One of my favorite parts was the audience, during the 2nd half of Reach for the Stars, they started turning on all their phone lights. It looked like a field of stars in the crowd and was done with no prompting from the singer.
I was also in that crowd and can honestly say that it was easily the most loud, energetic and hyped crowd I have ever been a part of. I seriously hope they come back around again soon, I swear I’ll never miss a show or any other Sonic event that comes near 🥺🫶🫶

Nate: "I'm not the biggest Sonic fan." Also Nate: *gets invited to perform in Sonic's 30th anniversary concert after making a kickass tribute album* Me: this pleases me.
this version of live and learn is unironically one of the most advanced and best musical orchestrations that I have ever heard. Top 3 best songs in my book, top 25 in history.
I still have the game on my phone… Labyrinth Zone is cursed I swear. I’ve made it to Robotnik on so many occasions, and the water physics are so hard to get a feel for
This literally is THE BEST WAY they could have celebrated sonic. They knew we loved the music, and they provided. This is amazing. PLEASE I WANT THIS ON CD FOR MY WORK AREA
No matter how odd, or buggy at launch, it feels like the quality of Sonic game music has _never_ dipped. This concert left me with a huge smile on my face. It's up there with the Undertale concert in terms of quality!
I hit one of the worst depressions of my entire life in high school because I was severely bullied for my stuttering. So badly, that I would refuse to talk. I got back into Sonic because of the nostalgia my sophomore year and I used Sonic as a coping mechanism for my depression. Because Sonic made me think of my happy childhood instead of the pain I was dealing with. I downloaded Sonic on my iPod touch at that time it helped me deal with my depression. Along with the franchise in general. I will always appreciate Sonic for that.
Can I just say, how the hell is Johnny Gioeli 53 years old and sounds like his voice hasn't aged much all since the Hardline days? The notes at 1:58:00 and 1:59:25 are pure chills to this day. Dude is a hell of a talented singer.
This concert showed us that even with all the mistakes he might have made in the past, Sonic just never stops and will keep on running. Sonic, thanks for never giving up on us! Here's to another fantastic 30 years of Hedgehog Greatness!!!

47:18 When I heard His World start to pick up, it really felt like Sega going back to '06 and getting over what they may have considered their biggest mistake. Accepting it for what it is, and picking themselves back up. Everyone's talking about the part of the symphony that got them, and for me. This was it. It felt refreshing, and, being a kid who grew up playing '06, it was touching.
Now if only poor silver was allowed to fully recover from his debut game flopping, i really wish he got more respect from sega, but he's done nothing outside of spinoffs and comics, where his biggest feat was destroying the metal virus
06 is not a bad game to me, honestly, It's just hard. I find it challenging, I don't look at it as buggy or rushed, the story is crazy but honestly, it's a good game. I'm glad you can reminise over it too.
1:26:12 Words cannot express how much this one sonic song means to me, It fills me with such hope, And strength that i can maybe amount to something if i really try, Also when the camera zoomed out to show the full orchestra, I legit could not stop tearing up from how beautiful it sounded.
I just saw the Sonic symphony world tour in Chicago and wow it was amazing everyone was happy. Nothing bad happened. It was just the whole time and plus almost every seat was booked.
This honestly might have the best version of "I Am All of Me" ever recorded, simply because Johnny's voice isn't being obscured by the heavy post processing here, and his voice is still very on point as is.
It may be bad and suck it’s the kind where’s it so bad it’s good like no matter the unplayability it makes it even more special completing it it’s like poetry
With how many times they repeated the build up I was worried they weren’t actually going to do the chorus but ngl it was incredible when it actually dropped
Same man, plus the one before it No joke these 2 songs got me through so much and legit made me love the SA games even more. Tails and Sonic where at their most relatable in those games to me (with wanting to be your own person and fighting your fears and doubts, pushing through them) Idk man just that part hit me hard....and this was only like 2 years after I really got into these games
The whole Believe in Myself and It Doesn't Matter blend had me feeling emotional. Singing the song along with the orchestral styling really feels like the lyrics have a totally different meaning. It feels less like a rock song and more like a message trying to be made through lyrics! And seriously, these two songs have always been my go-to when I got older and had a better understanding of the words in the lyrics. Believe in Myself being an anthem for making your own way in life; and It Doesn't Matter being an inspirational piece that, no matter what happens, you can always reach your aspirations so long as you keep on pushing through.
I keep coming back to this just to listen to the vocal tracks. It's awesome to see Johnny can still hit those Live and Learn high notes, there's just something magical about hearing it sung like this, even the original track can't compete IMO. This is, in fact, the greatest performance of Live and Learn ever.
Absolutely stunning symphony. These musicians should be proud, they've been immortalized alongside one of the most famous video game characters in history. Even to people like me who have never played a single official Sonic game, this franchise's history, this _character's_ legacy.. He reaches far and wide, and has changed not only the face of gaming, but the entire world. Happy birthday, Sonic! And may you celebrate many more.
This is bringing legit tears to my eyes. After the last two years of near-nonstop strife, this is hitting all the right notes, so to speak, for an overload of joy. Happy 30th, Sonic!
@@seronymus not by our own striving. All good things come from God. His desire and ability to make us like Him in Christ has been revealed and it is available to all. Music is a great gift from God. And it's cool that God making us from the dust is so ingrained that even atheists believe it somehow.
Two years on, and this whole thing still gives me chills and makes me want to go fast. This was amazing. Sega please don’t let this be a one time thing you should do this again for Sonic’s 40th anniversary.
I absolutely adore the way they play Labyrinth Zone It sounds so nonchalantly and cutesy even though probably a lot of players died in that zone, it's almost as if the orchestra is mocking the players who died there lol
I've watched Natewantstobattle for years. Ever since his top 10s and his Nintendo parodies. One of the first videos from him I watched was his cover of Escape From the City. It brings me IMMESURABLE joy to see him have come so far. My man has been on it since day one and now look at him. It's weird saying this but I'm so proud of him and everything he's accomplished. Thanks Nate and thank you Sega for everything
52:44, something about Endless possibilities in this form of Orchestra just, at least for myself, is more emotionally stronger and hopeful, I don't know the exact words, but it is that powerful for me. Thank you Sega!!! Continue taking care of our little boy Sonic as he continues having more adventures!!!
I came back to the Sonic Symphony with barely any memory of it and i was just about to go to a different video and then that Green Hill theme kicked in and honestly I almost cried. I remember as a kid i would always look on RU-vid for sonic mod content of sonic fan games and I remember that they always had fan songs and I remember loving each and every one of them. I haven’t seen or heard of those content creators from my past for years and when the music kicked in i got this rush of this 2010 nostalgia. I remember huddling up to my old boxy TV in my moms apartment and loading up RU-vid on my Ps3 just to get what felt like genuine beauty in the eyes of my adolescent self. I wish i could go back and see those RU-vidrs in their prime like Cobanermani456 and others. Thank you Sega. You are literally one of the main memories of my childhood and i hope you stay beautiful and “Live and Learn.”
It's wild how generations have come and gone with this property and this music. "Endless possibility?" "Speak with your heart?" I had no idea and have never heard before. But when the sound effects for "Open your Heart" played before the initial roar into life, I already had goosebumps. I'm glad so many people can enjoy so many different parts of this celebration. Johnny and Jun still go it, and I think I've enjoyed the music of Sonic more than it's gameplay as I've grown into a man.
I'm finally taking a look at this and I am in tears 😭 for how truly amazing this is to celebrate the Blue Blur throughout all these years. I will remember this for the rest of my life as a Sonic fan!

not gonna lie, hearing NiGHTS caught me off guard and i started crying, both sonic and NiGHTS were really big for my childhood, and for me now as an adult it brought back so many forgotten memories. i’m so nostalgia happy
@@mrsavage4837 SATAM is shorthand for Saturday Morning, referring to the Sonic cartoon shown in the classic 90's Saturday morning cartoon block- considered far superior to the goofy, hyperactive 'Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog' cartoon shown in syndication around the same time.
1:55:10 oooooh my god i cried incredibly hard when live and learn came on. Sa2 was my childhood, i spent so much time on the game and i still do to this day. Sonic gives me purpose, he helpes me see the light at the end of the road so i can fight my way through to the end. Ive questioned what it means to be a sonic fan, but above all else i find great solace in being a sonic fan, im proud of this community despite its mistakes, because weve learned from them and still are learning from them. Also the chao garden??? They covered the chao garden????? I don't know what i expected and yet i didn't expect the chao garden but im super duper glad we got it! Its so chill, :)))))
I love how I just discovered this and how I’m just crying so hard from this!! This is my childhood!!! My first Sonic game was Sonic the hedgehog 2 and man how that symphony killed it was amazing!! ❤️😭
