Cool video! I bought this game right when it came out and I’ll never forget how weird it felt to play Sonic on a Nintendo system at the time. It ended up being really good though, and while it didn’t quite live up to the 16-bit classics, I have a lot of fond memories with it. I wish they’d release the Advance trilogy on modern consoles; I’d love to have this on my Switch.
Sonic Advance is so special, especially for me. The idea of being able to play Sonic on the same system as Mario and Pokemon in and of itself was exciting, but the atmosphere, the sprite work, everything was just nailed for me with this one. I hope the trilogy eventually gets some kind of modern rerelease, especially if it could get the 16:9 treatment
woah you missed Sonic's air dash! that's probably his most imortant move in advance 1 and you can get SO MUCH speed on those very first hills by using it
i totally agree with you, not only this is a fun game but also its the best of the trilogy , its slower than the rest of them but more fair and more polished , finding and winning the special stages may not be easy but it is possible, all characters are unlocked from the beginning and you are free to get each chaos emerald with any character and play the game in any way you want , but obtaining the chaos emeralds in advance 2 & 3 is a nightmare and you dont have enough freedom of choice, i love the hole trilogy but the first one is the one i would put in my top 10 favorite sonic games ( or maybe even top 5 ) , i cant call sonic advance 2 sonic 5 but i can easily say sonic advance 1 is the real sonic 4 in my opinion , i like it even more than sonic mania , because despite how great sonic mania is it reuses a lot of stuff and because of that it does not feel like a step forward all the time , but advance 1 feels like a continuation to both Sonic3&Knuckles and SonicAdventure
Awesome video! I hope you keep going and eventually get to the Sonic Rush games on the DS; those were absolutely my jam and great games in their own right.
