SA1 was unironically a better game. The Knuckles levels weren't absolute torture, Amy's levels were great, Big's fishing levels were fun, the Gamma levels and storyline was actually touching. Plus that Super Sonic bossfight at the end. Plus Tails could actually fly. Plus those overworld areas man.
Fun fact about the stage at 1:06:07 that was originally gonna be a sonic level (as evident by the rock music in it) but they realized they only had like 2 shadow levels up to that point so they made it a shadow level 😂.
This is game is such a beautiful mess. You can feel how the devs were doing whatever they wanted without consequence cuz they believed the company was gonna go down But also apparent that they did not have the time or money to do anything because the company was going down Still some of the best art work and music Sonic Team ever put out, they were on some next level shit in the early to mid 00s Side note, its low-key kinda nuts how no one talks about how an elderly man was executed VIA firing squad in a sonic game

Finally got my hands on sonic adventure on and 2 and i gotta say, ive been having a blast w both. Thanks for uploading this Majin, it was really cool to watch you play through this!

I believe you have to switch the whole system to Japanese to play Adventure 2 with the Japanese audio. That's what I did when I played in on Gamecube back in the day. Japanese dub had Nobutoshi Canna (Guts from Berserk) as Knuckles & Chikao Ōtsuka (Big Boss, Gold D Roger & Mercenary Tao) as Eggman

3:51 I remember that demo! It was a sampler. It had demos of Sonic Adventure, Power Stone and a fishing game I was stuck on playing Adventure and Power Stone over and over again.
5:00 I remember playing a purple demo disc over and over during the really early days, some of the demos were just videos, but i would still watch them over and over, Jet Moto and Twisted Metal, very cool for a five year old used to nothing but 2d games.
i'll never forgive konami for killing the pro evolution soccer franchise. for years it had fifa beat free. even without the license, it was the soccer game of choice for fans across the world.
The Sonic and Shadow levels were good. I'm not biased but the none of boost games really do it for me and I didn't bother to buy them myself cause they lacked SA2's feel. Tails levels were okay but they could've expanded on the Mech concept. It would be nice if they had improved on the SA1 plane missions to bring them back to SA2. What they can even do with Tails and Eggmam now is give make Metal Slug, Blaster Master or Starfox type levels for them. Chao Garden was really fun side content and I had too many hours in there. Im sure there are many ideas from Mobile games that they can implement into the Chao Garden on top of the Karate and Racing modes they already have. The Knuckles levels weren't that bad but they were not exciting. They probably should've gave him Beat'em up levels on top of this. Rouge is actually a Spy and Jewel Thief so they easily can give her Stealth and Decision Based Gameplay on some Batman and Metal Gear shit. Overall, the game is definitely replayable. I just don't see why Sega doesn't think of anything that I thought of and implement it into SA2's formula to make SA3 already.
The mech and treasure hunting sections haven't aged well, especially since they were done better in SA1. The mech sections as Gamma were fewer but a lot of fun and Gamma controlled better. The treasure hunting sections as Knuckles in SA1 was far better because all 3 emeralds could be tracked at the same time. In SA2, only 1 can be tracked at a time so you can easily walk right past one of the emeralds not being tracked while looking for the trackable one But the speed sections are still top tier here (as they were in SA1). The only reason you'd think it hasn't aged well is because you're not playing them as intended. The levels aren't fun when you're not using Sonic's abilities, most notably his spin dash, light dash, grinding (+crouching on rails) and bouncing (as Sonic) to make the stages faster and the game more enjoyable
Looking forward to the Shadow the Hedgehog run when it drops on Twitch lol. Also, that shrek picture was nightmare fuel.... Enjoyed the SA2 run and great content as always👍🏾
4:15 I know EXACTLY what you’re talking about when it comes to the demo of Sonic Adventure 1 of the beach level. It was in my local Blockbuster or Hollywood Video I believe. I played that thing like CRAZY and thought it was the sickest game ever made.
I agree this game didn't age the best; god damn I still love this game for the soundtrack alone. Def one of my favorite Sonic plotlines next to SA1 and Unleashed. I can have a great time with this game no matter how old I get.
@@doogies I'll keep it a buck 50; on technical level it aged like milk. I won't disagree with that, not going to see this game with rose tinted glasses. I'd just enjoy the early 2000's aesthetic of gaming. Wish it had more Sonic and Shadow levels.

This game aged a bit better than some of Sega's other titles around that time. I tried playing Jet Set Radio the other week and I just couldn't get myself to play it man. Thanks for this video though. I enjoyed the commentary lol.
Dreamcast demos were something else man, they even had a crazy way of starting the demos! Machinery whirring and shit as the Dreamcast screamed to load it.
I recently had the chance to actually play Armored Core 2 for the first time in like 10+ years the other day... and for the record, I speak as a dude who has left multiple comments across different videos on RU-vid over the years primarily with the intent of griping about how the biggest reason he lost interest after AC4 was hating the switch to analog controls. ...I'm not 100% sure I regret those comments, but goddamn was it a struggle re-learning that style of movement. Not because I have conflicting muscle memory from following titles, but simply because it had been such a long ass time since I'd played _anything_ like it. Was still kinda fun though, even if I made the foolish decision to try and strugglebus as far as I could without human plus XD
