They had to team up to get the advantage on Broly in their Super forms as it was shown in the video. Broly was beating the hell out of 2 SSB fighters and it took Gogeta to Overpower him. The only way that Sonic and Shadow will overpower Broly is if they either go Hyper or if they fuse into Hyper Shadic. But Hyper Sonic or Shadow alone would be enough.
