To answer some questions: Yes, the Darkspine Sonic skin is a mod, this is being played on Dolphin. The skill ring is from the base game, with the stats I had at that moment (I used a cheat code for lvl 99) Other than that, I have no idea why or how this video blew up, lmao.
@@AGZhark Even then, I didn't expect this video to hit as hard as it did. Before, my previous videos on Sonic weren't popular, but now they've skyrocketed. It's definitely the algorithm imo.
At the time it may have been necessary, as the Wii was almost brand new and people were unfamiliar with motion controls. Things like this get worse in hindsight, because we already know how the controls work and think we did at the start.

@@BurstFlare So, basically what happens in the game, when Sonic has enough momentum while the jump button is being held, he'll slide as he builds up the jump power. What the guy does is use the Max Speed to basically jump squat slide through the entire edge shuffle part since the game doesn't force Sonic to start shuffling along the edge, for some odd reason.
@joshchong4625 I tried to setup my own controls for this game, X to homing attack and right stick Up + Left stick Up to get that boost at the countdown, to use the catapults too. That shi is so jank dude, I have to hold the right stick in the exact opposite direction of the left stick to go backwards, but left and right is mirrored XD.
6:19 And here comes the old memories trying to make me cry. I miss seeing new uploads from Cobanermani. The guy had a lot of bad going on in his life, to the point where he even tried to you-know-what a girl he knew due to how messed up his mind had become, but still chose to make quality content for as long as he could. I respect him for his efforts, and hope that he can come back someday when his mind's in a better spot.
This and Black Knight were some of the most fun I've had playing a Sonic game growing up as a kid I'd completely forgotten there's like even MORE skills and abilities you can unlock in both games I might bring out my Wii to like Max out both games
I...think I understand why they nerf Sonic so much at level 1. This is like...Textbook definition of neck-breaking speed. It's amazing and euphoric to see and possibly feel with the on point reflexes, don't get me wrong. But I can only imagine how much of a pain it'd be to someone who's never played this game before.
I bought an action replay powersave around the same time as I got this game, so I used cheats to have level99 stuff right away cuz I was a smelly kid, and safe to say the game was fuck hard.
This soundtrack was so fucking good. I vividly remember struggling to force my siblings and cousins to play the multiplayer but it was so long that we never got far before they got bored...
Secret Rings has always had some of the best level themes and general aesthetic imo. That plus some of the best music in the series and a good bit of nostalgia. I've always loved it, despite its shortcomings.
Just letting you know that the Aegis Slide can be used at 2:03 as well, to bypass that entire sliding section. The Aegis Slide was a godsend. Normally I'd play with the offensive tool but being able to get past so many problems is just so much better.
If they could make a remaster of Colors, I wonder if they could do the same for this and Black Knight. I’ll settle for a Secret Rings spin-off for the comics.
@@superizillian957 this game wouldn't really work as a boost game, especially since that negates time break and speed break(which is necessary), the most they could do is remove motion controls and maybe fix a few things here and there, but adding boost wouldn't really work, it could potentially even make the game kinda worse...
As a level 57 Sonic With Crest Of Wind [Got at least a silver medal on every mission in the game] I'm a little surprised to see it absent here, even without it though a level 99 sonic tears through these stages
What's good about this one over generations is u have to work extremely hard for the best rank . Generations will give u an S for basically finishing the level 😂
Pretty nostalgic, the fricking music pulls me right back in!! This game was actually pretty fun, and first stage looks really good. Beter than I remembered. + The story was quit original and the ending cinematic was awesome
If the most intelligent robot played this game it would literally get everything and probably get all stages done under minutes depending on the level all golden medals

Haha not possible. U played through the entire game without equipping skills😂 . And that I find hard to believe cuz not only would that be impossible but that would make this game literal garbage...omg Lvl 1 sonic in this isn't a sonic game . 😅
@@komlat253 I never once equipped skills during the game past the tutorial (not that I can remember, at least.) But I'd never actually known about the level up feature during my playthrough of the game.

Honestly the sense of speed is really good with the upgrades and especially the speed-break. Him saying SPEED BREAK and then flying at Mach 3 through the stage is sick af 10:00 11:40 “YOU’RE NOT GETTING AWAY, SPEED BREAK!” 12:53 “sonic, SLOW DOWN” Imagine if they did it there too
It’s not a good game, funny everyone remembers this game for cobanermani and he even said that he’s maxed out in secret rings and that’s what makes the game fun
Funny thing is, this isn't even the fastest Sonic can go. He didn't equip Crest of Wind, a skill which makes Sonic go 1.5 times faster than what is shown in this video IIRC.
the dialoged getting cut off cuz speed makes sense and for sme reason sounds better most audio cut offs are from shitty voice acting slowing down to early and cutting themselves off when a litle slash is in the subtitles like thi- instead we actually get people being cut off lol
I still have my copy, but sadly I’ll never be able to complete it. The disc is so scratched up that the game crashes as soon as I beat Erazor the first time 😢
Used to think that i sucked at this game when i was younger, but boy was i wrong. I was feeling nostalgic for this game, so i busted out my Wii only to see that this game had terrible controls.
I actually like the idea of this game but I feel like the motion controls definitely ruined this game because if it wasn’t for the controls, it could’ve been great, and when I was little, I would only play the party mode because I sucked at the story mode
Gamepad, there's some dolphin config for controllers to play SATSR. They're on Gamebanana and there's at least 2 iirc. You can check out which one works best for you.
