Nah Sonic Battle is dark while the Shadow The Hedgehog game is "edgy". The big difference being that one did it right and the tone was earned and justified while the other pandered and came off talking down to the audience.
This game's ending made me so sad, because it was so unambiguously tragic. Emerl was a robot... His actions were dictated to the letter by his program, so no amount of talking or trying to convince him otherwise would've done it. At the cost of the lives of everyone... Of the entire world, he was sacrificed in the hands of fate. All the emotions, all the innocence, all he's been through with Sonic and everyone was geniune and it perrished hopelessly... I cried with my entire being when it happened.
"Someday... When this world finally knows true peace... If the world no longer needs weapons or wars... If we can make this world a truly peaceful place when we're older... If we can make a world where there's only laughter... Do you think we'll be able to play with Emerl again?" To think, a game that revolves around fighting makes it a sport, an activity that people can enjoy, turns a 180 on us like that in the end. Peace on Earth is the final message left by Professor Gerald. Bring Hope to Humanity.
You guys remember when these guys had personality? Cream was actually part of the story instead of just being some background element, same with shadow, and the story, whether good or bad, at least tried to be interesting. This is awesome, and I would LOVE to see more

Moments like these along with his character portrayal in Adventure 1, 2, and Sonic X (Japanese dub) only makes me hate how he was written in Sonic Forces even more.
I love the way you spend the game upgrading him and then at the end you have to try and defeat him after you've equipped him with all the epic attacks :P.
This fight is so much more difficult when you equip Emerl all of the ultimate attacks and specials... Basically one shot with any move so I had to cheese the fight using cheap moves. But that ending, really clinched my heart man felt amazing to beat it after so many trial and error
@MaxLos Yeah, I agree, but I actually made a video of Ultimate Emerl by using the specials as combo extenders. Sometimes Emerl just stands off screen and does nothing at all, not even healing, allowing you to recharge your Ichikoro meter and get a free kill with Sonic's Ground Shot. EBF is definitely awesome.
One of the few games to not have/use Super Sonic in the final story. If Sonic is able to handle Ultimate Emerl, then Super Sonic would be a no contest maybe.
Bro omg if I would’ve knew that shit from the beginning I wouldn’t had his ass so buffed…..it was like I created a fuckin monster and I had to destroy it….which was hard AF‼️🤣🤣🤣
The only game where the final boss' power was so... Overleveled compared to mine that I felt no respect in fighting fair. The only way to win was to exploit him/the game.
DEDEDELICIOUS It wasn't. The game was poorly made, in the end. Exploiting it was easy. I remember I played most of the game as Emerl and a broken Mine Trap Ability. The game didn't recognize it as a Mine Trap, Ranged, OR Physical; I can only guess that Emerl's broken Specials were given their own unique coding, meaning that no matter what, other characters couldn't be Immune/Defend against my 1-Hit-KO attack. That plus Knuckle's Recovery Move, that game really wasn't very.... hard. This last battle was more of a puzzle game of how to use the game's mechanics to screw up the opponent. Like most battles were. Just this one was harder than the others. Eureka. This isn't a Fighting/Platforming/Action Game, this is a Fighting/Puzzle/Platforming Game!
Didn’t own the game (didnt have a GBA), but I remember as a kid watching the story mode on a commentary’s channel, basically reading it for me and talking about the game/features. The nostalgia is real
6:00 the final eggblaster destroyed multibel star's and emerl copies this power and sonic still beat him just t show that even in his base form sonic is Op as fuck.
Emerl didn't copy that power, it tried and failed. Reason being that If it had the power to destroy multiple stars Eggman would have the durability to survive the destruction of multiple star systems too since he got beat up by the robot too. To make matters worse for this argument, it became unstable and was having trouble holding it's energy in.
This was tragic moment, no matter how powerful you’ve made Emerl, it knew the threat it would pose to others, to the point where death was the only means to save everyone he cared for. How is it that SEGA can make sentient characters to be sympathetic, yet so tragic. Examples include: 1. E 102 Gamma and his siblings. 2. Emerl of course 3. The SwatBot NPC from Sonic Chronicles (assuming you chose not to fight him). 4. Metal Sonic, I think that there was cut content for Sonic 06, where he has his own story and actually contemplating the nature of his existence and programming. 5. Any other robot from different Sonic media (comics, tv shows, etc). R.I.P Emerl the Gizoid.
Son!c The Hedgehog because just because he fought Emerl, and took down the Egg Cannon while having nothing but less then 30 seconds, doesn't mean he did it in an instant
adriianeut The sad thing is, even if you hack and equip all of Emerl's Ultimate Skills (Costs over 600 Skill points), the ai characters will automatically block your third attack, like Doctor Eggman does in this video, meaning you can't combo anyone effectively Funny thing I found with some moves: Shadow's Second Attack and Tails' Third Attack merge seamlessly together, which makes it extremely hard to guard agaist
