Most of the people who're truly devastated by the Vs. Sonic.exe mod being canceled are the longtime fans of Sonic.exe because the mod gave the community much needed publicity and new blood. Now with the death of the mod, most people in the .exe community (myself included) are worried that Sonic.exe will fall back into obscurity and slowly die again.

Sonic.exe crying even more blood is both hilarious and sad. Even an announcement like this can break a demon's heart. It's a real shame what happened but I honestly feel it's the better for the devs even though I would've loved to play all of the songs that were gonna be featured scrapped or not. But I'm very thankful that we've gotten a chance to try out the unfinished build. I just hope to see another amazing Sonic.exe mod like this sometime in the future.

Some the reasons why the mod got cancelled are: 1. It had a lot of leaks 2. The team got overwhelmed, and they didn't had a lot of time left to finish the work, or at least couldn't finish it at the time they wanted to 3. I’m pretty upset that the mod was cancelled but I am happy for the people working on it to finally have a break. On twitter they said they cancelled it because it wasn’t fun to make anymore, they were having problems, and so many leaks were being produced, so I don’t blame them for stopping.

Honestly by now with how many mods have gotten cancelled either because people got face-meltingly mad someone leaked a thing or because of dumb drama, I feel like the community needs to finally have something set in stone/planned for in case something like this happens so entire mods/weeks/ect. don't just get canned and then left to die or the mod dev goes scorched earth over sodium with whatever happened to get it ended to begin with. Otherwise I'm worried there literally won't be much of a community left at all period by the time the actual FNF team finish their game if everything keeps burning to the ground either due to backstabbing or because someone had what is essentially the weekly twitter drama happen to them.

This is proving that anything good has to come to an end, It's a good thing we have people "completing" the mod with all the songs and sprites and stuff, I was really just mad and heartbroken to see the best mod fade away just like that. The good thing is that a Re-Run Mod of sonic.exe will come out sooner or later (Another whole mod)

My reaction to the cancellation of the mod was a mixture of anger and sadness. Anger because of the people who were leaking parts of the mod that was supposed to be secret and sad because I was looking forward to playing it when it came out.

Well, sonic.exe does have a tendency to kill off things we love dearly, doesn’t he? in all seriousness tho I hope the devs get the rest they deserve. No matter if some of them come back to this or not, I think I’m pretty satisfied with all the songs we got.

(Just getting this off my chest because I am absolutely devastated to know the sonic.exe mod is no longer being worked on and got cancelled because of people stressing out the team and constantly getting their stuff leaked too early) The whole fnf community is the definition of friendly fire. We literally can’t go a month without destroying a mod project with so much effort engraved into its coding. Building something so architectural just to watch as people decimate the surprise. Finally, something that doesn’t involve pedophilia. However genuine question, why do most creators suddenly be into children after creating the greatest thing to ever exist. It is physically impossible to list the amount of creators who have lost their reputation because either them or a member of the team becomes a groomer. I will just lose all faith in this community if there is one more creator/developer who becomes a predator after their highly successful mod that took days or even months to make only to take it down because of their past mistakes. I’ll let this controversy slide because it’s understandable that they got stress and felt like canceling the mod was the only option

I feel like those who still have a developer ver. of the 3.0 still remember it, and have it and want to keep it alive. I still have it, I just don't know what's going to happen with everyone else.

When I heard the news that the mod was coming to an end, I couldn't help it but to shed a tear. I remember way back before the mod even existed when I first got exposed to the Sonic.exe community. I even remember all the nightmares I've suffered from watching gameplays of it. Classic young me lmao All though that phase didn't last for long. That was all until I heard about the Sonic.exe mod (Around when the 1.5 update got released is when it all started for me). So I started getting back into it. And then after the 2.0 update I really started to get interested in it. All the memories... Really sad to see this mod go, let alone one that I actually liked. That was probably one of the reasons why I'm even still in the FNF community. I fear the fact that the Sonic.exe community will possibly die.. Again.

I like to think they're still working on the mod with people thinking it's cancelled so no one will rush them, and they can work on it at their own pace and then just release it suddenly out of nowhere to everyone's joy

This is why a small dev team shouldn't work on such a large ass, ambitious project

I swear I'm going to learn digital art, programming and good music making just to make another mod continuing the legacy.

It's pretty sad that such a wonderful mod had to come to an end. And i got pretty disappointed that 2.5 wasn't even finished. I had pretty high hopes for the mod, cuz even the slightest details of the mod were freaking awesome. But now it just ended. It took so long to receive the news that the new update would come out to simply end from one hour to another. I really wish that we could get at least a full 2.5/3.0 version.

this mod is what made me enjoy sonic.exe. seeing him in fnf form made me realize "yo this guy is epic"

You have now made me think that in every mod the characters are just paid actors, Xeno isn't actually evil he's just playing a character, it's like the star of the show being promised a sequel and then being back to looking for work a few months later after hearing about its cancellation. At least BF was there to comfort him.

To be realistic, Sonic.exe received the most attention only in 2021 due to the mod and the fact you could do and still can do a lot of things with it, when it first appeared in 2012 no one talked too much about he. as it is now.

the devs of this managed to make sonic exe come back, but now due to the cancellation of the mod hes gonna slowly go back to the shadows atleast until they pull a mcm/tgt moment and the mod is revived

The team should've sticked to making small changes or just enter a new project. There is a line that one shouldn't cross when making a passion project, you don't want to burn yourself out. That is why the Sonic.exe mod just needed a 2.5 release with small changes and JUST a couple of new songs and leave the future to a new project.
