Sonic fans make some crazy spinoffs in a space where sonic team doesn't really want to experiment. Let's see what Sonic fans have created in areas where Sega doesn't dare to go! Join the discord: / discord JJJreact
I feel like sega is recently trying a more creative approach with sonic spinoffs, the biggest example is "The murder of sonic the hedgehog" that took a more narrative/mystery deduction approach that weird enough works amazing. I feel like the reason that sega made the game free was to experiment what would be the people reactions to a odd direction to the sonic world
Classic Sonic Simulator is really good, and it’s impressive that they were able to replicate the Classic Sonic physics into a Roblox game of all things. Sonic Smackdown is a fan game I’d really like to play, but I don’t know where to get it, and I don’t think I have the ideal computer for it. Fans being able to express their own creative freedom is always great to see, even if I don’t play fan games that often. 4:39 I actually like TSR. :P
classic sonic simulator might as well be its own thing. While at times it may be held back by roblox limitations, after getting to know the level creator and the near accurate sonic physics, its honestly become one of my favorite games. Makes me really excited for stuff like Sonic Studio. Also, Sonic Rush 3D seems like a really cool project! Sad the devs left
@@sallytrix8713neither other engines has limitations but they still have good games but except for Roblox, it has already happen that a developer abandons it's project from Roblox to another engine because of Roblox limitations. Roblox is not about good games is about teaching kids to make games
Saying Sonic spin-offs haven't experimented with many genres is holy wrong to say the very least. You could make a Spin the Wheel with every genre of gaming known to man on it and spin it, whatever genre you land on on that wheel rest assured the Sonic franchise has a game in that genre. Not even the mainline games aren't not experimental, remove Mania and S4 from the equation and every single mainline game has tried either reinventing the approach entirely or branching out into something completely different.
it feels a little rude to say it scares them since they allow them to make them anyway, plus when the spin dash came out people were not quite on saying it felt like a mod. which shows where they got the inspiration from.
Sonic GT is also a good though quite short fangame IMO that is more in line with 3D Sonic than Frontiers; Sonic Robo Blast 2 shows Classic Sonic in 3D can work; and lastly Spark The Electric Jester 3 might be one of the best highspeed 3D platformers despite being a spinoff made by a single fan. These 3D games are worth looking at IMO!
Spark the Electric Jester was never a spin off, it was always its own thing. What happened is that the first game started as another Sonic Fangame (about to be the creator's 4th) but he decided to make it his own IP
@Daviron I mean, I think we've had experimental stuff in and out of the spin-offs like The Fighters, Sonic Battle, Story Books, Cronicals, Advance 2-3, Rush, Free Riders, Chronicles. They all experimented in different ways, but alot of people didn't like alot of the experimental stuff so SEGA dropped half of them.
I've actually used classic sonic sim for my levels and I love it because you can add contrast to your characters, you can make it look like a real fan game, and it's just fun overall.
Nah, Sega is fully aware of the fangames and ROM hacks of Sonic. They are ruthless with their other IPs, but they let fans make Sonic fan content because it is part of their strategy of growth since the merge with Sammy. The fan content keeps the Sonic brand active, even if the official games are bad. The games are a portion of the Sonic brand. They have comics, TV shows, movies and merchandise, where the real margins are. At this point the Sonic fandom is used to make fan content, and if Sega decides to strike, therr will be a massive uphoar in the community.
I was an og of the first one -- classic sonic simulator I played it before the level creator, before the parallax backgrounds, before the debug mode, hell even before the multiplayer
There is an official Sonic fighting game, though. Maybe not the best out there, but it was some enjoyable arcade fun, sprinkled in with some classic difficulty annoyances.
i legitimately loved Sonic chronicles so much. shame others don't seem to agree, and the whole legal thing...i liked the gameplay and story both! a lot of the art was great, even if the gameplay was a little grainy at times. also my favorite sonic fangame i have played so far is SONIC GT. because the controls felt as closest to perfect as i could ever hope for. very fluid movement.
I believe running Wii Sonic Games on a portable device is alot more easier being the fact you can set up motion controls as an an analog stick like playing Sonic and the Secret Rings but with an analog stick.
Sega should prevent their own mistakes not fixing/learn from them. They are not learning from them. I mean they are still failing at doing experiments.
Just curious but did you get the point of Sonic Dreams Collection? It's unsettling and whatnot because it's supposed to represent the weird parts of the sonic fandom in a sort of meta commentary
"Lets see where they can take the franchise not even Sonic Team are allowed to do by SegaSammy.." There fixed it. Sammy's actually calling the shots in SegaSammy not Sega.
I'm not a huge Sonic fan (well I love the characters and the world, but I can't get into many of the games). But I absolutely love that SEGA just embraces fan content. Like I know people wonder why Nintendo don't do the same, but I think with Sonic it's specifically because the games are kept alive by the community rather than sales figures. Which is why SEGA aren't as receptive to fan content of other properties like Yakuza or Bayonetta.
if sega is gonna keep bringing back the first 3 games, why dont they do a mario maker but classic sonic, clearly those roblox people already knew to do it!!
Thank you for sidestepping the “O” word, that was a train wreck of bad design, owtheedge cringe-worthy plot, and the game’s infamous development. I maybe trying to “get gud” at it: that doesn’t mean the game is.
bro said roblox of all things like it's a bad thing, dude roblox holds one of the best (and one of few) good 3d toei Sonic things or smth Idk haven't played it in a while anyways someone is recreating Sonic Frontiers and it's good. yeah.
