Sonic Forces seems to be considered VERY bad from what I read after completing the game. From the "sonic" community anyways. What was your experience with the game like?
THERE ARE TWO MAIN ISSUES WITH MODERN SONIC GAMES: If you look at Sonic games post Yuji Naka/original team, there are a couple of problems that have plagued Sonic games. One is the "gotta go fast" mindset. If you look at earlier games they had a combination of the fast, looping areas mixed with slower areas that involved platforming, attacking enemies, etc. Going fast all the time takes away variety, leaves you with completing levels too quickly, etc. What they need to do is use the speed to make interesting gameplay, as opposed to just moving forward as fast as possible with that being the only intent. The other problem is a reliance on copying earlier games. That might seem to contradict what I said about being more like the original games but I'm referring to rehashing the zones. Instead of yet another Green Hill Zone they need to come up with different areas. I guess there's a third issue related to my second point that plagues all games. Trying to make games to fit with what you think people want is a terrible way to make something great.
I can agree with this, especially after going through a few of them recently. The best games so far that I had in my back log where Mania and Generations, which lean HEAVILY on the old games again. I haven't played Frontiers, but from what I read it was a step in the right direction, they have really struggled to find a balance. I think it all comes down to world and level design around who Sonic is and what he can do, they just can't ever seem to get on the right page. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts!
I'm happy to see another Sonic Forces fan. I agree, the game feels a little undermade and the classic levels aren't the greatest, but the sense of speed, cool levels with impressive visuals and decent boss battles made the experience a fairly positive one for me as well
My son used to love this game, but back then he couldn't tie his shoes and would sometimes use the bathroom without washing his hands. This game sucks.
I've been deciding wether or not to buy forces on switch i already have mania and frontiers but if im being honest probably the only reason why im gonna buy forces is because of infinite and the joker costume because persona 5 is my favorite game
From what I've hearding those 2 games are suppose to be better then forces. I think you can get Forces for pretty cheep these days though, so might be worth it!, Thank you for watching!
The thing that made me upset about forces was the fact that if they spend more time and or just had no specific dates, they really could hasve made something special. Edit I got sonic forces free 😊and when I mean free I mean it came with mario 8 deluxe when my dad bought the switch
i think that you should stick to your opinion no matter what.if you like a game,just continue liking it even if people try to change your mind.i never played forces but i do think that i would like it and yes i am a die hard sonic fan but i love almost every sonic game.....except for sonic chronicles,yeah that game was garbage (don't worry,on youtube we're the good part of the sonic community the bad and trash talk ones are on Twitter or X for that matter,i wouldn't advice any casual sonic fan to go there)

@@JimmyPotatoTV My biggest gripe is the controls in this game. I wouldn't have nearly as much of a sore spot for this game, if they actually made the characters control decently. It's also especially noticable after going back and playing a level or two from other Sonic games. Frontiers even uses the same engine as Forces and is leagues better when it comes to controls. While I will say that I agree that Sonic Forces can be fun, to me it basically serves as a poster-child of what not to do with Sonic Games. I am fine with glitchy games, boring games, heck even janky games. But Forces for me is just a level of carelessness that has become unacceptable at this point. Sure the game has its good points, but the problem is that compared to basically any other Sonic game or heck just most other videogames, this game just doesn't feel as fun or worth it to actually play. This is the only game where I have been straight up UNABLE to get some of the S ranks despite this game giving out S ranks for just playing and beating the level. And that's largely because of aforementioned control problems. And the nail in the coffin for me is that, this Sonic game has some of the greatest potential out of every Sonic game in terms of what it COULD be. But because of weird and stupid decisions made behind the scenes, it remains as basically a soulless husk that you can briefly get some enjoyment out of, but lacks any real tangible connection with the audience. I've played plenty of games that I have found fun before yet others say that they are stupid or something. But in this case, the overall experience for me was mostly one of frustration and annoyance because I was constantly frustrated with this game when playing and annoyed at all the stupid little decisions that were made once I got a better look at it. Anyway I digress, the point here is I don't like Sonic Forxes as a game largely because it simply feels, for lack of a better term, half-assed. I as a person just don't like half-baked or half done jobs so combined that with the fact that this game is objectively one of the worst games ever released by Sonic Team, and you get my very numb opinion on this game. I will say that Forces is not the absolute worst Sonic game out there, I mean, Sonic Boom and Sonic 06 probably contend as the top two from an objective standpoint, but honestly, the quality difference between something like Boom and Forces is so non-existant that it's basically the equivalent of a test beta versus a broken one. And pretty much all the "bad" Sonic games look pretty and have there own sets of missed potentials. So it's not like Forces is doing so hot when it comes to games to outclass. Again I'm rambling so I'll stop it here since you most likely get the gist of my points. I am genuinely glad that you got to enjoy the game as is but I honestly cannot say that it is anyway good enough to justify praise. That's just me though, I have no problem hearing others thoughts on this as well and hope that every who is reading this comment has a good rest of their day despite my more pessimistic take here.
@@JimmyPotatoTVa little fact Sonic Forces made me hesitant on getting Frontiers, I thought about waiting for the reviews, but after hearing about the praises, I decided to give it a shot, and Frontiers was the best sonic game I have ever played. So good, that I didn’t hesitate to pre order Superstars because they earned my respects for that game.
