There's a lot more to this franchise than some people think. Sonic's not only an inspiration to many Sonic fans such as you, but he also represents a piece of ourselves and has probably played a large part in the formation of our individual identities.
Very late to this but With this it makes Infinite feels less like some overly edgy, angry someone But someone grieving, maybe not even fully able to control themselves, this being more like a cry in battle than a battle cry if that makes sense Like infinite is holding back tears in a battle, like he's geninuely suffered so much and just wanting to find some justice for it even if taking it out on the world
also his real name , the fandom seems to agreed with his current one "zero the jackal" because infinite has two circles , if you take out another circle of infinity , you get zero , so thats how they came up with the name "zero" "zero the jackal"
Maybe the original version of the song is the boastful facade Infinite puts on in battle, while this version represents a more accurate picture of his state of mind.
0:13 I was getting ready to Rock out like crazy there but then I end up hearing a calming piece of music to go with a wonderful voice.. I can certainly say I didn't mind being surprised for this one.
This is what would play if Infinite survived being beamed away by Eggman. After the resistance has won, Infinite is left in the ruins of Eggman's empire. When he wakes up, he thinks back on what just happened. But instead of being filled with anger like he was when Shadow beat him, this time he's filled with an overwhelming sadness. He thought this was his chance to prove himself, and yet he still failed. Maybe joining Eggman was the wrong thing to do. Maybe he should turn his life in a different direction... but what? With this new question, Infinite gets up, throws his mask down, and walks into the sunset, going nowhere in particular. Honestly, even though the original version was about Infinite gloating about his power and how his opponents can never stop him, this version really does sound like he's instead disparaging himself for his failure.
See if they didn't play with the fucking "pathetic" and being weak and instead did something with his worth as a mercenary and like in general i think theres much more here and along with what he's lost what you said makes it feel more right in my head.
When I first played Sonic Forces, I thought the thing powering the final boss was Infinite's injured and stressed body due to the ruby being stuck in his chest
Me on first 10 secs " Are you serious?! Idk you are such a metal Emi " After proceeding more into the song "Ouh...ouh... this suddenly sounds beautiful and sad"
You know if infinite's origin and motive weren't so weak(hehe)it probably would make less memes and could be more emotinal like for example:he always was seen was worser and weaker but one day eggman gave him one golden chance and shadow took it away but now he isn't weak,he has the phantom ruby, hes gonna get his revenge, hes rising higher,he is infinite
1:14 _~When everything you know has come and gone...~_ 1:20 *~you are at your lowest, I am rising higher!~* 1:22 _~Only scars remain so through it all...~_ 1:26 *~what I find in the ashes, you lose in the fire!~* 1:30 _~When there’s no one left to carry on...~_ 1:34 *~this is an illusion, open up your eyes and!-~* 1:37 _~the pain... persists..~_ 1:40 _~I can’t... resist...~_ 1:41 _But that’s what it takes to be_ *INFINITE!*
Really shows the tragedy of Infnites characters, always compensating for his trauma with the illusion of power. And he needs INFINITE of it to feel better
Angelic Jester the only way you can effect me if you drove/lived/bought airplane tickets Austin, Texas and went looking for me in 3-roomed, 1 bathroom appartments in a poorish side of the neighborhood.....
I love how this cover is more of a tragic ballad rather than a badass boast. I think it changes the song to have a more tragic meaning. Like infinite is realizing how alone he is and that no amount of power is ever going to make him feel whole
Y'know, if people see this comment, let me tell you something: There is WAY more to Infinite's backstory than people think: he had a squad. They were his friends, his ALLIES. And when he joined Eggman, they were unsure of Infinite's choice. Then, one day, Shadow came on a mission to destroy Eggman's facility (as seen in Episode Shadow) and off screen, he murdered the Jackal Squad, save for Infinite. Neither Eggman nor Shadow cared, but Infinite did. Infinite wanted to avenge them for what Shadow did to them, but he got beaten and crushed, and, instead of Shadow finishing him off, he just mocked Infinite by calling him pathetic and weak, along with saying he's not worth anything to be finished off. And then he left him. COuld you imagine the ACTUAL pain Infinite felt through this encounter? In a way, his backstory is similar to Whisper's from Sonic the Hedgehog IDW. (Btw, this is the second version of this comment I made, since the first one wandered down to a gorge after a week of the original being out.)
It's true. I just wish they fleshed it out better because the Jackal Squad was only in the comic and a quick mention of them was made in the actual game. Maybe if they had Infinite mention right before or after the final level of episode Shadow maybe it would have been done better. To those never read the comic probably forgot about that mention to his squad. Which is probably why most people think he is pathetic. I feel like Infinite is the biggest example of wasted potential. Also to people who didn't play Episode Shadow. The game makes you think Infinite was literally created by Eggman which makes everything complicated. I do hope they are able to bring him back and hopefully fix up that mess but I really can't say. They had the right idea and did a few things right but failed in execution.
@@kellyrichards7659 I agree! (And didn't expect anyone to find this comment. XD) I loved Infinite and his potential, despite his flaws, and I hope that if/when he returns, he'll be a lot more appreciated and fleshed out! Might I also add that your reply felt VERY nice and well-reasoned, along with ACTUAL constructive criticism and analyzing. We need more Sonic fans of that sort.
Only the lyrics if you want to be precise, the composition is what makes me really like this cover, it gives a completely different feeling while still being a villain's theme. And also, IT SAYS COVER
0:17 Sonic:w-what's going on? 0:29 *Infinite sings* Sonic:So,uh...are we,are we gonna fight or...? *Infinite ignores him* 1:16 Sonic:YO,WE GONNA FIGHT OR NOT?! Infinite:LET ME HAVE MY MOMENT HEDGEHOG!! Sonic:O-ok...
@@GameTimeWithKim you call that cringe? Look at your video list buddy :/. And the fact u liked ur own comment makes the salt hurt ur would even more :/
@@bomberhood7234 no he's dead how do I know this you may ask there is a video showing a guidebook (or was it a regular book?) and the guidebook says he's dead so yeah he is dead and is not coming back because he is dead
When I saw the beginning I thought, "I do not think the voice of this girl remains" but after listening to the rest of the song, WOW seriously, you have a gift, you're a real artist, I'll just start a vocal theme of Sonic in Spanish. You have a gift, do not miss it.
So glad everyone else can finally hear this!! It ended up being one of my Emi favs yet. Taking your vocals and making ‘em soar as far as they can go is always so much fun, pleasure working with ya as always ❤️
Cassius Clay Amisi Does it even matter why she did it? It was her decision to do this for thousands of people and it turned out beautifully! You're just a hater dude. Let her do her things and you can do something to stop listening. You know what that is? It's called click off and ignore it.
Actually, I feel like this song cover represents Infinite's OTHER personality: sad, lonely, just needs a friend, but refuses to make any, and really misses his squad since the day Shadow ended them.
Me: Taking a song with lyrics like this and making it beautiful is impossible. Emi: I'll make you eat those words Me after the song: Well I'm big enough of a man to admit when I'm wrong.
As pointed out by several people, this cover paints Infinite in a more tragic light. The regular version of the song is battle cry or a hype song, but this version sounds like he’s on his last legs. He knows he’s been beaten and is about to die. A part of him doesn’t want to accept this, which is why he still has the boastful lyrics. However, he eventually is forced to face reality. He has lost. Lost his squad, his dignity, his power, and soon his life. He’s lamenting this fact. His time is up. Everything he tried to build for himself is falling down. Everything he knew is gone. The only remains of the Mobian he used to be are his scars. He lost his friends in the fires of the same war that brought Sonic closer to his friends. And once he loses against Sonic and the Rookie, no one was there to have his back. Only irresistible pain and agony. His powers were a lie, unlike Sonic, Shadow, or The Rookie. All the jackal can do is wonder if anyone can, or will, save him, his only solace being that he might see his squad mates in the afterlife. Infinite is monster, yes. But he’s a monster born from pain, loss, tragedy, and self hatred.
I can imagine this song playing while infinite is dying and his life flashing before his eyes as he remembers who he was, what he originally fought for, and all of his regrets while eggman take the phantom ruby to power up him machine for the final boss.
tbh i never was interested in any covers until so many people suggested your covers and i usually dont give chances since im picky with music but this is my first time listening and i got the chills. your voice is amazing and beautiful and changes the emotion of the songs you choose. nice work emi!
This is really emotional, it makes this whole thing look like Infinite doesn't want to hurt anyone but something is making him do all the things he doesn't want to do, it goes back to a phantom ruby theory where Infinite was a good guy but got possessed by the phantom ruby..
This. This right here is how the orig song could improve, and this did it justice. The rapping is ok but i wanted all the lyrics to be melodious . I love this ^_^ .. I really like this line "only stars remaining through it all" kind of gives it a planet sized destructive feel to the song
I saw this on another video, but Infinite wasn't a bad idea, the Backstory wasn't bad, its that they barely did anything with it, honestly forces should've had more time in the oven, don't make the episode Shadow a thing, just make stages for him in the base game, maybe give him some unique chaos abilities. (I'm saying this if they delayed Forces) and actually focus on Infinite, if I'm remembering correctly Jackal Squad with killed by Shadow, who then beat him up and called him worthless, maybe instead of having outside tie in comics, have some of the stuff in the game, maybe explain that Jackal Squad was literally the equivalent of his family, people who actually cared about him, only for him to work with eggman, and they all die because of him. And have him be almost emotionless to everyone, and when he sees Shadow, he just looses it, instead of just pulling a prank on him
Great job! This is like the movie trailer version of Infinite's theme. Cue slow motion clips of Sonic, his friends, and the world getting wrecked by Infinite.
I feel like a song that sounds something like this could be the perfect theme song for Sage in sonic frontiers. We’ve already had evidence of NateWantsToBattle singing the main theme for this game, but what if he wasn’t the only youtuber to sing for frontiers and Emi was the singer for Sage’s theme? In the end this is just me thinking of random things I want to see in the game, but it would be nice.
I predicted this the moment I saw your comment on the original version, And I must say this is some beautiful edge. Never have I heard such edginess and beauty combined to form such an amazing cover. You never cease to amaze. #EmiForTails2017
I really like this cover of the song I think this should have been infinite's personality someone who's control over their own body has been taken away from them by the phantom ruby and is being forced to do all these horrible things and before you say that they had intentionally found it to make themselves more powerful archaeologists look for ancient items and boy, I the phantom ruby ancient! And I also thought that original the character was going to be a childhood friend of infinite's host body and that their motive for joining the resistance against eggman was to free their friend from the phantom ruby's control and that in the end after they had defeated infinite and eggman the phantom ruby would detatch itself from it's host body and absorb a ton of metal and then transform into the phantom titan and that modern sonic, classic sonic and original would all have to go super and battle it in a rift between dimensions and it would be as powerful as Solaris and dark Gaia combined and literally throw neutron stars at them and all that would finally lead to the destruction of the phantom ruby and the end of the story and keep in mind the phantom ruby can literally bend reality this would put into on a threat level up there with BILL CIPHER the multi dimensional monstrosity who's only weakness is being inside the mindscape and the person' mind who he enters being erased by the memory gun and he can also bend reality to his will! That's powerful!
@Klone Runeflower I see. That's pretty good. I'm writing a book for me and my friend. Me and her have been doing roleplays and I decided to write a book containing all the stories we have done and out them together as one full story.
It's funny that JessePajamas is in this. Knight Of The Wind did a Sonic Chronicles cover and in the end he told you to go check him out so I did and I subscribed to him. Either way great job.
First few seconds is Infinite at 11:59 PM crushing people at Mario 35. Then it hits midnight. This is Infinite mourning the loss. this is my headcanon infinite where he picks up a gaming career, for context.
Me: *obsessed with the cover and video* Also me: WHERE IS THE FULL VERSION?! MY HEART IS HURTING AND I’M CRYING!!! TvT Love the video!! I actually do want to see a full version(if there is any… /v\), if there isn’t one yet, I’ll wait for that day to come. And if there is, where is the link or where can I find it? OvO
Maybe this could be seen as a conversation between Infinite and his arch enemy, Shadow. Each of them is trying to sway the other to a certain point of view or perspective. Infinite is trying to prove to Shadow that he whatever he does is hopeless and meaningless against him but Shadow is attempting to help Infinite and the last few verses before the end are Shadow telling Infinite that he is living in an illusion and Shadow can show Infinite what it's all about if he let's him. The last line says that he is the only one left in this world that sees him as something other than a weapon and a monster, a person being lied to and manipulated just like Shadow was. "It's only me and you. Who is gonna save you now?"
I literally almost cried. I think that some of this song's lyrics are pretty sad and then you make this calmer version of it and with your beautiful voice... I was so close to crying
i was brought here from curosity by some guy who hates the game, and gotta say... why does he like /this/ version? I mean its an okay remix, i've heard better, but jesus. Your voice is very nice, I'm sure if I went rooting around your channel, you'd have fantastic songs uploaded where your voice shines, but it's just that your voice does not fit the idea and heart of Infinite's theme. There are plenty of other versions of Infinite's theme that capture and remaster his "edge", and while sometimes angelic, female voice covers of said songs can be BANGIN', I don't think this is one of those cases. I'll recommend this song to my friend who just digs female covers
This is beautiful on every level. A song so chaotic, fuelled by hate and fear and then there's this cover that adds this raw beauty to the chaos. I'm beyond in love with this.
