I like the changes from Unleashed to here! Fewer strings and more breakbeats signify a faster battle at slightly lower stakes. Basically a "daytime version" of the original Egg Dragoon!
@@TheTurdle It's too hard when you play it for the first time and it's too easy when you play it multiple times. It doesn't have the same balance as this and many other boss fights have
@@sl1v3r-31 I'm convinced that first time you fight the time eater is rigged because the way it took me almost an HOUR to beat the first time around but all later runs took maybe AT WORST 4 mins
The original theme was much more intense and badass, while this one is more tame yet still cool. The original Egg Dragoon theme has that dangerous tone that Sonic doesn't even know if he will survive. Hes falling to his death with Eggman making sure of it, Eggman Really wants Sonic dead in the fight because he already won. The new Egg Dragoon theme in generations is more on Sonics side. Sonic defeated the Egg dragoon in his Werehog form a few years ago. If Sonic beat him once, he can do it again, but last time he barely survived so the theme still has that uneasy feel and it fits great. Sonic Forces Egg dragoon in the game, and its awful. (Pun fully intended)
The fact this improved version can not only overtake Sonic while he’s running near straight ahead, but maintain such a distance as he boosts is a testament to the capabilities of this machine. It can not only target him reliably enough with all of its attacks to pose a consistent challenge, but flat out channel the Time Eater’s ability to warp space and time to completely alter the fight. This means it can compensate for part of its new modular design taking sufficient damage with a different form of combat. This thing is a legitimate threat, a true pinnacle of both boss design, and Eggman’s mad science. Then forces said “hey, check this out.” And absolutely defiled it with a fight that ends in like two minutes with quick and easy ‘shape-in-hole’ patterns. No I won’t let this go, this is one of my favorite bosses ever.
Nah man I just listened to the unleashed version and this one and I chuckled to myself a bit after. The unleashed egg dragoon fight theme was crazy and sounded like it was barely finished when it was time to play, just like the egg dragoon itself in unleashed. But In sonic gen it sounds finished and more tame and ready to pipe a whole orchestra of holy shit into my ears
So in the original we were falling down a gorge as Eggman puts it, but here, we're running along a massive tunnel. If it weren't for Eggman's change of pace attack showing that we aren't sideways, I would have believed we were running to the center of the earth
I wouldn't say this remix was bad, it was still really good, but I gotta say, I prefer Unleashed's version. It simply felt more urgent and went all out with it, while Generations' version sort of dialed it down a little.
I think it’s cause that similar to the biolizard and perfect chaos. It’s not as threatening anymore because they were already fought and defeated. Heck Sonic doesn’t even the chaos emeralds to fight perfect chaos anymore.
Honestly I feel like it was a good idea to remove the orchestral feel of the original theme because I feel like the point of the original egg dragoon theme was to combine the speed of the day boss theme with the power of the night boss theme but this version is fought like a day boss so it doesn’t make sense to have the night boss style music
I suppose when making this, Sega thought it was time for a change of pace. It’s not bad, and made me freeze in my seat. No amount of words could burn this masterpiece.
This boss fight is good, but Unleashed is way better. It felt more hands on in that game, especially the XBox 360 version. I also don't exactly understand how people say this theme was better. I get it that it's a more orchestral remix, but the original had that beat to it if you get what I mean. And not just the beat-em-up fighting style.
I agree. The Unleashed version is better compared to the Generations version, but the changes with the theme is understandable since the Egg Dragoon is not the final boss in this game, and having the pre-final boss theme be more epic compared to the final boss theme would have been a bad decision.
@@Mod3rn0ccult1st But in Unleashed, despite it having a final boss like theme, it is the final brawl between Dr. Eggman and the monster that he basically created being Sonic the Werehog and the fight is a bit more different than the other night stage bosses. I'm not saying the others are bad and I like all of them for how unique each are with how you go against them. The day time bosses are mainly just boost loops and two of the three bosses are basically the same just one decided to take it to an 11.
@@retrorezzie1746 true. I also think that Unleashed had the best version of Sonic. He's heroic, kind, inspirational in a way, a good friend, and can be funny. His humor isn't overboard so it mixes just enough to work out perfectly.
@@MochicoArtemis did you play the Wii/PS2 versions or XBOX360/PS3 version as both play out a bit differently. Yes they're very similar, but I honestly like the more cinematic points in the HD version of Unleaded showing a more unique way of taking out the Egg Dragoon. And it all ends with the Werehog testing the Egg Mobile out into starlight effect (a.k.a. He's basting off again).Generations did add a lot of new attacks or variations, but I just don't feel the intensity or risks that fight had as much as the one in Unleashed. Unleashed had greater risks with the entire planet splitting apart and the possibly complete revival of a god-like entity sho can bring the world into a permanent darkness. Yes Generations risked the distortion of time and space which seems worse, but it just didn't feel like much of a challenge in the end. Forces was the worst of the Egg Dragoon fights as it has no story purposes. The Ultra Hyper Prototype 1 was specifically made using some of the energy/power of Dark Gaia. So why would he make it again if it isn't gonna be powered up by an energy as strong as Dark Gaia's? But, I get that everyone has their own views and can prefer some bosses over others.
Played through Generations on my PS3 for the first time yesterday. This boss was super glitchy but still fun and challenging, unlike the final boss which was just annoying
@@ADoodGuy Sonic Unleashed had a Egg Dragoon Boss Battle with a slightly different theme but a completely different play style, which came out 5 years before Generations.
some of these parts sound like phantasy star bb themes specificlythemes like that of the forest level, I mean it is also owned by sega so it makes sense even tho they have diffrent composers for each.
@Kid Synthesize no I’ve played it completely it’s my fav sonic game ask me any questions but you’re actually stupid if you like this theme more than the original lmao
Here goes not bad here goes time for a change of pace FREEZE! BURN! not bad PREPARED TO BE SKEWERED!! GRRRR GRRRR here goes time for a change of pace not bad ....
@wipflashgamer6507 unleashed version was more heavy and intense to fit the werehog, generations version is more fast and energetic to fit sonic's normal style
