Sonic Generations is a Blast

And we're coming in live with the Famous Blue Blur himself Sonic running through Green Hill Zone! Thankfully our truly Amazing camerama was able to keep the camera on him the entire time!

Clever idea. It also shows a big part of what was wrong with Sonic 3D Blast - you couldn't see where you were going, so running around was not as much of an option (though the level design was changed to have that in mind).

I wonder how many people got the pun about Sonic Generations being a "blast" in this. Sonic 3D Blast style Generations makes me laugh, but could be the start of an RPG mod.

I admit, this does look strange, but kinda' cool! One question, though: Where's Sonic's shadow? I know Vanilla Generations' shaders aren't the best, but I know there should be a shadow under Sonic...

Y'know, I always wondered how modern sonic would be like with the 3D Blast camera. Thanks for making that a reality! Now I can only imagine how classic sonic would be like with his spindash (athough it's broken beyond repair in 3D sections) with the camera.

It actually looks like really interesting idea! It's pretty cool how different the game looks just by moving the camera. I think if there were levels designed around this camera angle, it could be really cool. Or at least it shows a remake of the first zone in Sonic 3D Blast is somewhat possible in Generations

This actually seems to work pretty well. people just need to make stages that suit this style.

All that's missing is the flickies you need to get in order to progress.

While it sounds like it plays pretty badly, something about seeing this kinda classic angle in modern quality is really cool to me.

This looks like it could actually work as a standalone game; a hybrid of Sonic: 3D Blast and the modern boost-based Sonic games. Just give the player enough room on the screen to see their surroundings and make it so that controlling your character is not nigh-impossible (as well as doing other things that make playing a video game enjoyable in the first place) and it _could_ actually work.

This actually feels satisfying... somehow...

It is at the weird camera angle so you got that right, It would’ve been more neat if Green Grove Zone act 1 were more accurately recreated through the level design though for an extra bit of immersion

This is insulting, yet, charming.

This might actually be semi-playable if there were silhouettes of important entities (enemies, springs, rings, SONIC HIMSELF) that are drawn above all surfaces if they're hidden from the camera by the stage. I still say *semi* because orthographic rendering fucks with my brain, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that.

If Classic Sonic had 3D segments

I was just wondering what this game would be like if it had an isometric camera.

It looks weird, but I would love to see Sega design a game like this using the engine. Make a game designed around this and it probably could come out rather nicely.
