the amy thing does make sense, but if you've followed the story in SA1 and SA2, her portrayal in generations was actually a regression from that. I think it makes more sense if she isn't as much of a fangirl as she was in the original timeline wise, but they should (and might, we havent seen the opening cutscenes to my knowledge) keep some elements in other places of the story
I saw a lot of people angry about the Amy change cuz she "isn't flirty anymore" but 100% telling someone you'll "repay the favor" can be flirty, ESPECIALLY from Amy to Sonic and it'd explain his reaction better too
They should've reanimated some parts as well to fit with the new dialogue. The lip syncing looks off in the Chemical Plant cutscene and Sonic's reaction to Amy's comment in the rewrite doesn't really make sense,
i have a feeling that they will, i think theyre just using old cutscenes for example purposes. if you saw the leaked shadow encounter cutscene, sonic looks way different in that compared to the others
@scarversion2 I think that Shadow encounter cutscene is part of Shadow's campaign, which is, of course, going to have entirely new cutscenes using the new engine and models.
i dont mind it, i like Amy being less flirty personally, but no one really took the threat of literal space time being destroyed seriously in this game back in 2011, everyone acted and talked kinda goofy and non chalant about it so they may as well have kept her silly lines
Do people notice that Amy stopped the whole "fan girl" thing even before Frontiers? In Lost World she took it back a little, and by Forces she just stopped altogether. They didn't really have a reason why before Frontiers though so at least they can add some background and maturity to it.
5:35 The problem is that, she never had said progression. It’s more like the writers of each game cared less and less about her love, and so it was pushed to the side. Instead of an actual arc, Forces is right there for easy humbling of Amy’s obsession or whatever word to better describe it.

Yeah she doesn't do much except try to kiss him or whatever, but no one in generations did anything except Sonic Tails and now Shadow. That isn't character regression, thats just a symptom of the course correction SEGA was tryna do in the 2010's with sidelining everyone.
I think the Amy change was a good thing. She had her character progression in the Adventure games, but from Heroes on, she went back to being that overly clingy fangirl that was just annoying. I much prefer her new character, she's actually likable now. Even Sonic 06 did her better than Generations, though I'd say Battle probably did the worst to her character.
Overall I don’t think Gens needed a rewrite, mainly because of its by-the-basics plotline. Unless the go in and change/ add new animations, the complete story will still be the same. In Amy’s cutscene, they actually made it worse. Because of the change, the context for him being embarrassed is now different. He’s now shaking his head now because Amy shouldn’t promise returning the favor? This makes him look like a jerk!
@@IconPNGDid you watch the cutscenes? The Original does make sense. Sonic was understandably annoyed because Amy was being silly and has screwed priorities. In the remake, Sonic was disgusted and saying “Not really thinking about that right now.” In response to Amy saying she wants to return the favor and help him back. You claim that it’s because he wants to help his friends but Sonic himself debunks your theory. If that was his problem, Sonic would have asked for the help she just offered. He was fine with Knuckles offering to help. Sonic makes no mentions that caring about his friends is why He was annoyed with Amy. Sonic was just being rude and/or sexist. Though it’s not really his fault since I hear that the game makers were not interested in reanimating the scene so Sonic had to be written as annoyed.
@@SonicXShadowGensHype I know that’s the intention, but that animation showing more annoyance. Honestly, if they swapped the animation or have rewrote the script with Amy’s original character personality in mind, I wouldn’t really have a problem with this
I have the impression that the focus on this part is due to the fact that there is a lot of new content, whereas in the Sonic Remaster part there aren't that many changes, so they are focusing on what matters. not that they don't care about the Sonic Generations part anymore and that they didn't make many changes and for sure some things are surprises for when they play which for sure which are the Redubbed Cutscenes and the Drop Dash additions which have already been leaked before which makes the Sonic Generations part less attractive I can say that they just didn't make many changes because it's Shadow's year and certainly the biggest investment in Shadow's part, so Sonic's part was overshadowed, so a more complete remastering would be unlikely
4:56 Not really original in my opinion. As I feel like she became even more obsessed with Sonic Heroes onwards. I don’t mind her being obsessed with Sonic, but I always felt like the 2000s took in a direction I didn’t care for as much, especially that was what she mostly was treated as. Not really having her show her other personalities more, especially that I do think Amy can be more her own thing when around Sonic without needing to love him. I think Ian’s Archie Amy does a pretty decent balance of having her show signs of still being obsessed with Sonic, but is able to get more out of her out side of her love. Maybe have more focus on her love, but I still think it was good. I love the idea that she would help Sonic when he’s on a date with another girl, because she cares about him being happy. Even if she believes she still will get together with him one day.
I think there’s something wrong with this fandom where changed dialogue from a game that everyone agreed had a nothing story, is sudden a huge problem to them. At this point, you’re looking for a reason to be angry. And please don’t bring up this stupid “ modern audience” nonsense. Sounds like you watch too many “anti-woke” RU-vidrs. It also shows you’re pretty ignorant on Ian Flynn if you think he has something against Amy’s crush on Sonic. Guess you haven’t read the comics.
8:07 I’ll be honest, the joke is slightly different, but it’s still there. (Mostly with how Sonic reacts) Honestly, I found this scene way funnier than the original. And I personally enjoy it more than the original for how Amy is portrayed.
Resident evil Remakes had annoying woke tempering as well, they completely changed Leon's flirting playboy personality in RE4, And made Jill a stereotype angry badass woman in RE3.

Ok, leaving the "Political terms" behind, im not necessary against character growth, & Amy leaving the obsessed cheerleader personality behind has been a great ark for her imo. But going back to old games and retconning her to always be this "Independent tough girl" seems like pandering to me, which you see alot of these days.

Rlly hope you're right about this Amy situation just being a misunderstanding of what fans want from her, which tbh given Sonic teams reputation for overcorrecting stuff, could be just the case of them trying to make Amy less annoying for some people but going too far with it.
