Happy birthday, Sonic The Hedgehog! I don't know where my channel or were I would be in general in life without this blue bastard. And with Sonic Origins getting an expansion with Sonic Origins Plus and Sonic Frontiers getting Update 2... I played neither of them.
For Sonic Frontiers, I haven't touched it in months, even after Update 1, I barely touched it, but what I saw from Update 2, I might be tempted to get back to it... I just did everything before said updates, I had no motivation to return since... really, I'm just aimlessly moving in the open world without an actual objective besides trying to have some fun moving around. Most of my fun came from messing with what little the combat had to offer and speedrunning Cyberspace levels...
And Sonic Origins Plus... yeah, what of it lol. Amy is nice on paper, but she's mostly a gimped Sonic 3 Sonic with some... questionable sprite work. And Game Gear games... badly emulated Game Gear Games... for 10 euros... I'm really not that grateful of a Sonic fan now, am I?
So, to be more positive, what I am always eager when it comes to Sonic related media is the Sonic fangame community. And well, Sonic Legends just released an Alpha Demo and honestly it has seen a huge glowup. It's a short demo, but it really sells you on the premise and gameplay, despite not shaking much the tried and true formula. Really looking forward to it.

@@MarkerMurker Yes. I love Fallen Star's stylized look and use of colours, but I still find this fangame more technically impressive as a pixel artist. I cannot speak for Quantum Collision, I did say I was talking about fangames I have personally seen (or remember seeing).

@@bk_3775 If we're talking about the main game as it currently is, I'm not a big fan of SRB2's badnik designs and colour palette. The main appeal for me in many cases is the quality of the pixel art, and SRB2 doesn't have anything particularly impressive, and it's not particularly compensated by the way it renders in game. I'm easily praise SRB2 for being the best Sonic fangame, but I don't think it's the best *looking* Sonic fangame. On that front it's even beat by Before and After the Sequel, as well as by Fallen Star, in my opinion.

@@Kiwi-fl8te If you think about pixel quality it's even more impressive, remember that each animation is drawn in 8 directions, and the transition itself. Having a simple style mean that it would be easier to point it's errors, which is pretty much none, the color palette is something that you can fix with your monitor or putting the render in Software, since the color palette was and is made with an engine that works both visual and gameplay wise on older monitors, you can see that with both Software and OpenGl mode butchering the colors in some kind of way, but OpenGl is the one that butcher the most. Yeah we can agree to disagree, It's just that (in my opinion) fancy pixel art doesn't actually make something prettier, yes the style of this game is amazing, and i would also say that it is more pretty than Fallen Star, but animation wise this game is pretty lacky, there isn't inclination on Sonic, and smooth frames are exchanged for prettier style, something that Saturn Games didn't do at the time (Chaotix is pretty and have great animations!).

Any fangame that has Feels The Rabbit playing a major role in it is a good fangame to me. Also wasn't expecting that Frenzy Adventure would make an appearance here but I really appreciate it regardless.

I think it'd be nice to see the classic formula with anti dick move measures such as, emphasis on camera zooming, tighter controls, setting running as an instant toggle, height indicators for obstacles, ways to dodge obstacles by timing right at the time

This is looking fantastic so far. Pretty much on par with Sonic Mania in terms of art and animation. Speaking of Sonic Mania, I find it interesting that the Drop Dash was so popular that it went on to become a core part of Sonic's moveset in both official and fan made games since then.

That eggman fight is perfect. He is just out of reach from Sonic’s basic jump which keeps the fight anything but short lived. You could either wait for his attacks to launch you into the air and take it at your own pace accepting the risks of his attacks, or stand vulnerable charging a spin dash to build up just enough momentum to jump from the slanted ground and gain enough height to hit eggman.

The art, the animations, the physics look beautiful! My problem is that they are still the same as the classic ones, because they don't move the cameras a little further away so you can see what's ahead to give you time to react, I understand that in the old days it was like that due to limitations, but nowadays it's not we have them, we could benefit ourselves in a positive way

I love it and I would play it. I love the curve on Sonic's body when he spindashes and the runcycle change when he runs very fast! But I do have some silly complains like... Christmas island? Where is the snow? Or Santa? Or... did Jesus died for Sonic's sins? And why Amy's blinking eye is white? But yeah, if that's all I can complain, you should be proud of your self for making this gem! To me, this feels better than Sonic Mania, which is a game I didn't enjoy.

The problem with games like this is they do not get enough attention from the actual developers to get support for a full product. The work in this is amazing. The small graphical improvements, the smoothness in movement and similarity with other versions of the game is top notch. I really wish this would get Sega backing to produce a full product. Thank you for the demo and the effort you have put in, its amazing and this is something that sonic fans can truly appreciate the work to continue a successful sonic formula.

sigh another fan game with the annoying drop dash...well at least the look of things, the stages are ACTUALLY designed around it for once. But yeah this move is overstaying its welcome greatly, and look slike even in this game there's no real point in using it. But everything else looks great though, although they should keep away from copyrighted music. Since you had to mute at the end.

I think the drop dash is pretty much integral to classic Sonic's kit at this point, in any 2D Sonic game that doesn't use boost, that removing it would honestly make no sense, but to each their own

So, from observation: -Very well done, very detailed spritework. Feels like a lot of soul went into these. -Enemy firework, and Sonic's "brake" sound fx sound a bit too out of place with the rest of the audio. While not a dealbreaker, it does kinda clash a bit. -Introduction of "Mystery New Character(TM)" has me intrigued. Love that the tune that played was a parody of the original Sonic The Hedgehog theme. -Stage layout has that iconic Sonic charm that feels right at home. All in all, an impressive demo, and I can't wait to see how it develops, moving on

Yo, Christmas Island! Sonic's birthplace! It's surprisingly uncommon to see folks use it for fangames! There's so much to love in here too! The sprite work, the music, Feels the Rabbit... even the Hey Ho returned, but as a miner, and he's powered by a Dark Ring! Even all the things Eggman does are crazy, this game has so much creativity bursting through its seams! And... the moment Sonic entered the ring... all those images, are they of other fangames? Or the future zones in this game?

Hello! The art style and sprites of this game game are phenomenal, on par with the official games. I like that sunrise gate act 2 has some extra lives to find out by exploring. Gameplay is fresh, elegant, and fluid. I think the game needs more secrets to find. Keep up the good work !!👍 PS: getting 100 rings doesn't give you an extra life

I'm just being honest here and giving my feed back what I had seen so far and so don't take it to heart its how I feel about this fan game don't set me right at all, I don't like the fact that they are using weird music on this sonic fangame, and I am not very convince this is even a true fan of the sonic universe, I mean they could of used other sources. also they could of used there own sprite rather taking it from Sonic Mania and you can clearly see their were a lot the sprite elements from Sonic Mania. "used sprite" Not even pure original and there no sign of creativity at all, Very disappointing. also the Clear Stage music from Sonic CD is bad choose they could used another sound to go with it. I'm sorry to say this but I'm very sad they could of done a lot better but I have give this video a dislike for not showing no effort to the game or love.

This is pretty good. I would say that the level design is as good as Sonic Mania. My only complaint is that the ring and sound effects are too loud. You can barely hear the music. I hope there is an option to turn down the sounds effects a little.

Very big sprites(?) make it look... like 4:3 ratio(?) Clever if intentional. Gives off some amazing Sega CD/Saturn-esque vibes. Finally a Sonic fangame that isn't a cringe half-baked open world! Absolutely keeping an eye on this. Great work!

The boss fight was the most interesting part here: a little complex without being too complex and forces you to use our favorite buzzword MOMENTUM to beat it. Besides that, I hope there's more to the final product than a rehash. So far I'm seeing green hill zone AGAIN. The few newish ideas like the drop dash and time travel are all taken from Sonic mania.

The game came out great. alot of spectacular Sonic fan games released lately. The visuals to me seem to be a mix of Sparkster, Ristar, Sonic Mania and Rayman with a little bit of Sonic Advance. I see Buster Bunny from Tiny Toons Adventures has finally been put in a Sonic game been years in the making. It would be crazy to have Felix the cat & Mickey Mouse in the mix.

I'm not into sonic games at all, stumbled in here from a YT recommendation. Gotta say this is better animated than the mainline games and the pixel art is the superb. Sonic's movement looks more dynamic and the Eggman fight like one of those "impossible" Megadrive hardware tricks. Sega should allow creators to sell these as a special non-canonical Sonic Fan-game series on PC & Consoles. Slap the Sega logo on them and make it official. Creators would earn some extra money and users have a better place to find the games.
