Slight correction, from what we learn in 06 solaris before actually had a physical form (most likely the eagle like statues we see with 4 legs) and was worshiped. Then something happened involving dark magic that reduced it to a flame and the royal family was tasked with protecting it
Mephiles is definitely one of my favorite Sonic villains. Just wished he appeared in more games as a primary archrival to Shadow the Hedgehog. And want revenge against Sonic and Silver but mainly on Shadow.
Something I never understood about 06 was the way they reset the timeline. Did it reset the entire sonic timeline up to 06 or just erase the events of 06?
All the prior games happened, just without the Solaris project happening. But, at least Sonic himself remembers the events of 06, due to the white space in generations being stated to be a part of Sonic's memories.
An experiment gone wrong, it happened when The Sonic the Hedgehog himself was only 5 years old(in universe), completely unaware of the Solaris project's existence.
