The 1st Sonic & Knuckles special stage is a little different in Mania. It has more spheres than the original design. It's the only stage (aside from the secret 8th stage from Sonic 3 changing some spheres to rings, which doesn't alter the actual mechanics of the stage) with a modification so I'm not sure why they did it for JUST that stage.

I just realized that the Blue Sphere stages use an interesting optical illusion. Ostensibly, you're walking across a giant 3D sphere in them, but the distance you can cover in them until you loop back around is far too short to possibly be a real sphere--its clearly a torus (donut shaped) sphere (or, in the most technical sense, a 2D square map that just loops you around)--BUT when you turn around to the left or right, the game still treats it like you're walking on a sphere instead of revealing what should be a giant ring you're traversing. In other words, the stages are checkered donuts visually projected onto a fake-3D sphere. Its a really jarring brain teaser, to say the least.
16 was giving me a heck of a time at the end. I have about 75% gold medals now and the rest silver, but until watchinbg this video couldnt figure out those last two spheres in that level. Thank you
They should do what they did in Mario when you got all the gold coins. The game would be like, Wow you got all the blue spheres? You must have god skills. And they reward you with a all blue statue of sonic.
I always loathed that stage at 31:42 because it requires some tricky handling and management of bumper spheres. It's the single hardest stage in all of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, IMO, and I always end up putting a lot of focus into beating it. Also the way you played the stage afterwards gave me a heart attack. I would NEVER use the bumper spheres like that, it's just a recipe for disaster.
I figured out what you had to do, but dinner attempt it for a while, because it’s so goddamn annoying and also confusing. My last gold medal and fuck whoever came up with that
I wonder if a lot of the stuff like blue spheres is stuff left over from the unreleased Sonic 3k remake that taxman proposed. I can imagine this how he would've done blue spheres game in that remake.
I completed Blue Sphere (Bonus Stage) in 3 Days . (31 Gold Medals) and (1 Silver Medal) in 2 days. On 3rd day I gotten the last Gold Medal on the one I gotten the Silver Medal. Requires hard practices. The Mania Bonus Stages are true challenges than Sonic 3 and Knuckles Bonus Stages.
Does anyone have an Egg Reverie guide? Because I made the mistake of getting all Emeralds before the endgame and now I'm stuck with AN EXTRA FINAL BOSS I CAN'T BEAT!
Nikash Gill Problem is, I can't go back to other levels and farm lives due to me getting all Emeralds too early, so in order to do so I have to beat the game under these circumstances. And Titanic Monarch is already hard and long as-is!
What I do is learn the fastest paths, and/or know where the extra lives and rings are. With all emeralds in play, also find where the big rings are too. All these should help you increase your life counter.
If I had a choice, I wouldn’t have been playing the bonus stages. But thanks to CW and Tee, debug mode can only be activated after getting 16 of the 32 medals. I’ve got 10 and I should get all 16 by Monday, but let me just say how much I hate Sonic 2 and 3 for their special stages
Oh god, every time I started trying one of these special stages, I could NOT complete any of them. Mainly with how Sonic speeds up over time. Also, could someone please explain what the purpose the stages are in mania? And, follow up question, what good will collecting the rings do?
I'll be honest I'm only familiar with these stages as chaos emerald stages so I don't know about the coins. But collecting all rings gives you a perfect run which leads to an extra life and a continue.
@@dragonman2168 fair enough. I'm not really a fan of the modern special stages. I feel like blue sphere was the best one because. Although it was challenging. It could still be learned and perfected. Plus I used to plug Sonic 1 into Sonic and Knuckles and play endless Blue Sphere stages.
My God, were they a pain to get. On my first run I got 29 gold and 3 silvers. Then on my second run, by a MIRACLE, I got the rest. Have yet to finish my second run and see if there's anything else to be unlocked.

I only have 3 left. The ones at 10:33 and 22:33 have screwed me over so many times because for some stupid reason, my controller won't respond when I try to turn, especially on the 10:33 stage. My controller works almost perfectly on all of the other Blue Sphere Stages, it's just these 2 that I can't beat.
