I'm just filled with joy that this fangame is back from the dead after nearly a decade. I really hope it gets seen through to completion this time. Gonna miss the tracks that'll be replaced...but such is life. Wish I knew this existed sooner, though. So many more jams than what the original demo provided! But seeing as it's Christmas, I guess this is basically an unintentional gift, alongside the fangame's revival.

Personally I have been a fan of the 2014 demo of this game and was absolutely excited when I heard it was making a comeback. Don't want to be rude but I don't like the new approach this new team is taking this fangame. Going for a "Sonic on the Saturn" feel and using a different OST all together does not feel like a true revival to me. It might be unfair to say this but as a huge fan of this fangame I cannot say I am a fan of this new remake.

Sad to know that leaks are the only way to see what has been cooked before indefinite hiatus, just like XG leaks. This stuff shouldn't be just tossed in the trash bin, just because it was for an unfinished product.

With the revival of Sonic Overture, here's a bunch of tracks that might not make it into the final game: - Every track made by Mr. Lange - This includes: - All of Sunrise Gate (the boss theme wasn't made by him, but, as it shares the same motif as his version, they might be changing it in order to fit in with the new one) - Granite Zone act 3 (act is not making it in either so far) - Waterworks act 3 (same fate as Granite 3. It's unknown if Waterworks Zone is still scrapped from the game) - Brass Tunnel act 1 (act 2 was composed by Sean Evans, but as it is heavily similar to act 1, it's probably being canned as well, it's unknown if Brass Tunnel will make it into the final game) - Clock Work act 1 (act 2 was composed by TheSymphonicGames, same situation as Brass Tunnel) - Clock Work boss - Green Hill Zone act 0 - Adobe Zone - Shining Zone - Moonrise Gate - Other tracks and a few guesses - - It's unknown if Diamond Capital is still scrapped. If true, then all of it might not make it. - Same as DCZ, Waterworks might suffer the same fate as it was previously scrapped during the old reboot. - Sparkling Music Machine (presumably, the tracks avaliable were composed by Lange) - Sparkling act 3 - Neon Zone went through some revamps during the rebrand. It's unknown if it is even going into the final game at this point. - Granite boss was, in fact, not a final version. - A few SFX. At the moment, we do not know which one iteration has been adopted by the new team. It could be a mix of both (zones reduced to two acts, but their order could be the original). The revival isn't a 1:1 recreation, so there could be entirely new zones. Only time will tell.

I never knew that there were tracks for later zones of overture… Ive been listening to all 3 Sunrise Gates for years. They’re some of the most beautiful tracks Ive heard from a Sonic fan game. They’re just so dreamy and hopeful… Always puts me in better mood

I love that some parts of the bonus stage is just Green Hill zone reversed

I really want Green hill act 0 to be brought back for the full game. It could be used at the very end of the game, where Sonic arrives on South island and takes his first few steps in Green hill zone, as visions of the future begin to flood in. From Sonic 1, all the way to Sonic Frontiers. This would mark the beginning of Sonic's long journey.

Wow, this is really interesting. I remember playing the old SAGE demo back when it came out. I had no idea that more music existed!

1:06:46 - Never thought I'd hear somebody sample "Downtown" by Petula Clark in an EDM song. Whoever composed this (DefaultMine, Lange, and/or Lone) really dug deep for their musical inspiration.

Honest really mixed about the game revived. Especially with all the stuff coming out about the BTS stuff from the 2014 version. Kinda feel they should have probably just been scraped in favor of making a brand new fangame. Especially the circumstances pertaining to the music and all that. Though, I guess it's neat to sorta see what the original game could have looked like even with how much things are being altered.

I kinda wish someone would try to make a revival of Sonic Overture...which might be unlikely to ever happen.

The bonus stage music has a reversed section of Green Hill Zone's theme i just realized

I still don't know what Great Lange did to make the overture team kick him out and completely disassociate him from the project. Literally everything I've heard has been a "he said this" and "they're a this." Literally no receipts, just people saying they're angry at him. Until I actually hear what they did, this version of the Overture soundtrack will continue to be my preferred selection over the new tracks.

For people who asking why in the new demo they change the music is because this was made by Mr Lange, the creator of Sonic Utopia who at the end was a horrible person, you can investigate by you own all the case but the point is that looks like isn't going to work in any relatable sonic thing again

While the new soundtrack isn't bad at all, it doesn't get me bopping my head like this does. You can tell the songs were made to fit those stages, so without them it just feels like background music almost. I know why they couldn't use them, but it's still such a waste.

Never played Overture, but listening to its soundtrack was such a joy, I think I'll check it out in the future :)

Maaaan, had Overture came out it would've been a banger. Well, maybe- Development drama seems annoying, especially if Lange is really as big of a jerk as he was made out to be in those twitter callout posts. I mostly mean the stupid standards he had up - very rude towards alleged minors at the time, if true. The N word stuff I could really care less about - people have bad takes and I recall Lange saying he no longer agrees with what he said in the past (which is common, I've said dumb stuff I immensely regret when I was a teenager myself.) A lot of stuff here sounds about on par with things we'd hear from Mania eventually, which either makes Overture a mania-like (soundtrack wise) before Mania even was teased to the public - assuming sparkling is from like, 2015-2016, etc. Also hearing a reference to Foliage Furnace from ATS makes me mald, really really deep cut reference there - being my favorite track from one of my favorite Sonic fangames. '95 looks alright, the new music doesn't hold a candle to the original (I'm also not the biggest fan of other changes, such as Sonic standing on totem poles really disrupting the gameplay flow, but generally it looks impressive.) Hoping we get more leaks, like footage from earlier builds, I'd really love to see some concept sprites/level design/gameplay from Sparkling and Waterworks, if any even exists. I've noticed some discussion regarding the project dying for real around 2021, clearly there's more we have yet to see, and I'd love to see everything the team has done for such a long time, even under such horrid circumstances their work deserves to be at least shared and appreciated. Thanks for the upload, real big childhood memories here.

Isnt rabbit ruin pretty much the song used for rustic ruins act 2 in sonic classic 2?. Maybe sean repurposed the track for classic 2 since overture was going nowhere at the time.
