@styggythestegosaurus5740 there's a button to go and 2 directions to steer. The only difference between this and any other racing game ever made is there's also a jump button.
i played tf outta this game as a kid. it was the first 3D game that could run smoothly on my mom's PC and i was blown away. so many hours spent just free roaming the levels to look at the most insignificant details. i still remember how the disc and cover art look. very nostalgic for this one.
It’s easy to say that now, but some kid must’ve begged his parents to buy this for them at full price back then! And they already messed up by owning a Saturn too! 😂 They got a dope ass soundtrack though
You know, This is one of my favorite sonic games actually! The music is pretty KICKASS!!! my favorite songs are living in the city and super sonic racing!
Can you feel the sunshine? Does it brighten up your day? Don't you feel that sometimes, you just need to run away? Reach out for the good times, forget about the rain. Just think about the sunshine and then you'll come back again.... 🎶 🎵
Tbh I wish sega did a remaster of this. Granted it wasn't that good but the potential is there, the music is great and the new characters were always fun to unlock! Imagine if they did this but with a modern spin (eg. sega all stars racing or sonic team racing, but without the transformation vehicles or team gimmick). Characters able to drift, each having their abilities along with a beneficial boost with it (like knuckles glide can charge a boost while gliding to close the gap), new characters, drop dash for every character, new levels and cinematic loop-de-loops/ moments. All with the classic models and music as an extra mode you can unlock after 100% AND you if you 100% that, you can use them as unlockable soundtracks, levels and skins! All complete with a story mode for each character and if you unlock all the secrets, you get each character's super form. Eggrobo even becoming Heavy King and Metal sonic becoming Neo Metal sonic!
Bought this game for 1p, didn’t work at first, so I looked up a fix before I installed a windows xp vm, and found the updater. Holy crap it looks and plays really good don’t it?
Is it just me or does this actually look fun, I’ve never played the game even when I was with my friend who had it cause of the tails doll stuff and the fact I had a plushie of tails Made it worse and I would cry in the corner as they played as tails doll on tag mode which would horrify me but now that I am 1% less stupid this looks like a fun game to binge out in a session
I played the first 3 games a bunch on genesis as a kid, but I'm pretty sure I played this almost as much on my dad's saturn as well. It's got a special place in my memories.
I feel like the races against the robots should've all had unique songs. Metal Sonic with Stardust Speedway's bad future Tails Doll with CD's US boss theme Metal Knuckles with either Big Arms or a remix of Knuckles' theme from 3&K Egg Robo with Sonic 3's act 2 boss theme And Eggman keeps the song used in the video
Never knew Sonic R's texture resolution was kinda high for Saturn, with the texture filtering enabled, it'll match the dreamcast quality. Obviously this is the original texture right because its too low quality for an HD texture pack?
I'm surprised how many people here actually like this game lol. The ost is all I care about. TJ Davis and Richard Jacques really killed it. Dashie would definitely say, "WHO THE HELL WAS IN THE STUDIO!" (if he hasn't played this)
I use to have this game on the computer I beat this game with just using the errow keys and the space bar and I unlocked all the characters and I got the super sayan sonic.
Whoever is playing made the controls look easy. I remember trying Sonic R at the local Toys R' Us back in 1997 and the controls felt absolutely atrocious to me after Mario Kart 64. The soundtrack is amazing, but the gameplay is jank. Nowhere near as good as Diddy Kong Racing that released earlier the same month. Sonic games determined if I invested in a Sega console and this wasn't it.
Well the version you were playing at Toys R Us was the Sega Saturn version. This is the PC version with mods that improve the controls as well as other stuff like visual enhancements. The Sega Saturn version is the worst, the controls suck and it’s way worse than the PC and GameCube version
@@Sonic_Beyond Thanks for the quick response! I knew it was PC version with mods since you put that in the description, but didn't know it improves the controls as well. Those pinpoint movements are like if the 3D Control Pad had analog instead of digital support. Looks SO much better without the camera clipping through walls, too!
