As the one who commission this I had two other track names in mind "Gotta go Dash" "Way past 20%" in the end both AwesomeEthan and Brandon convinced me to go with "Sonic Rainboom" glad they did thx again

2:00 Dash: You ain’t bad, but let’s face it Hedgehog, when you can fly, the sky’s the limit. This race is mine. Sonic: (Smirks) Is that a fact? (Suddenly seven strange gems form around him, as he suddenly starts glowing in a golden aura and begins flying) Dash: Wha…What did you just do!?! Sonic: Leveled the playing field!

Wiz: When it comes to speed, many of us like to live life on the edge of high octane adrenaline. Boomstick: So when you’re as fast as these two blue speedsters, why not be a little cocky? Wiz: Sonic The Hedgehog, Sega’s Blue Blur. Boomstick: And Rainbow Dash, Hasbro’s Hyperactive Horse. He’s Wiz and I’m Boomstick. Wiz: And it’s our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!

This art takes Sonic Colors to somewhat another level. I love it.

Sonic aint even fast. I was in the drive-through for like 15 minutes for a single order of mozzarella sticks and a cherry limeade and they miscounted my change. Big mismatch... amazing track though

Now this is a fandom rivalry or rather friendship classic. The use of Green Hill and MLP's peppy style blends together for a beautiful track. Edit: Listening again I hear parts of Rainbow's songs like "I'll fly" in this as well, neat touch.

If Sonic has a new game, I want this track to be included. This is a fucking banger.

This brings me back to when I would watch some old animations during the early 2010's where it would be Rainbow Dash vs Sonic in a race. Good times

Can't say this is a MU that I ever once thought about before but.. it actually kind of works. Plus the track just sounds so high energy in a fun and delightfull way; just like how these characters should be.

Let's take a look at the stats for these two blue blur freedom fighters. Sonic Strength and Durability: Capable of moving around massive golems and mechs on occasion. With the aid of a chaos emerald, or through scaling, he should be able to rend entire continents with his power of chaos. He often fights Shadow as well, who is frequently able to match Sonic. Speed and Stamina: Death Battle states that, with the black hole feat given to Sonic and Shadow, they should be able to move about 200,000,000 MPH with just a somewhat worn out base form (Sonic had just fought the final boss, and is sometimes a little tired out after fights like that. Ex: Sonic Unleashed.) His stamina is immensely high, despite this claim. He has almost always gotten up in the face of danger or times of need and acted upon them with little weakness. Skill: Often practices alone and with friends, trained in several fighting styles, and has extreme agility to greatly compliment his speed. Rainbow Dash Strength and Durability: She is often compared to Twilight's Alicorn form and Applejack, with her extreme speed, some magical ability that isn't to scoff at, and immense strength. Applejack has caught and thrown massive boulders before, and Dash has matched her frequently. Her Sonic Rainboom can clear entire cloud formations as well. In terms of durability, she has fought a dragon whose snores could shake mountains, and resisted it's roar better than others. Speed and Stamina: She's faster than Twilight's Alicorn form, and can fight for an entire day straight no problem. Skill: She has claimed to be a black belt, and has fought an army of Changelings mostly on her own. Magic: While not as impressive as her other feats, she can also conjure lightning and rain from clouds, as well as walk on and move them, which is technically considered magic in MLP. She does have Rainbow Power and the Elements of Harmony as well, but those are harder to use and/or require outside help. Results: Strength/Durability/Power: Sonic Speed/Stamina: Tie Skill: Sonic Technically, both are capable of moving faster than light, so speed is kind of irrelevant. Sure, one can be a bit faster, but it isn't going to help too much. Both are around this level of speed, and get faster with their forms. Sonic takes the win in Skill because of his frequent battles. While Rainbow Dash has fought a good bit, it isn't necessarily part of her lifestyle like Sonic's is. Sure, she has flown a whole lot, and likes to go fast, not unlike the other blue blur, but fighting is a bit of a different story. She has even cowered in fear instead of fighting at certain times. Sonic takes the category of Power as well. Put simply, the Chaos Emeralds being able to move parts of the planet is just on another level, and since Sonic frequently uses their power and can tap into it a bit without their help, he should be able to emit a comparable power to this. No, not quite continent size, but somewhere under a whole state seems reasonable.. which is still larger than Rainbow Dash's probably small country size attack power. Even with her techniques like Sonic Rainboom, Buccaneer Blaze, and even her cloud shenanigans, Sonic still has equipment and techniques of his own to resist the pegasus' literal rain of terror. Even if we didn't use scaling to Chaos powers and just relied on Sonic's own feats, he has moved and destroyed massive machines and beasts capable of destroying at least entire cities, which would again put him on Dash's level. Rainbow just didn't have the strength, toughness or sheer speed to match the super sonic hedgehog. This blue blur's blaze sent the flying filly flaring.

Oh goodness! The ultimate rivalry speed battle!

Seeing this pop up on my recommended feed flashed me back to the early 2010's. Honestly I really hope that DEATH BATTLE revisits MLP someday, and if the episode is as fun as this track, I would welcome it.

Script 'o clock! Beginning: Rainbow Dash is seen at the Sugarcube Corner, about to bite into a cyan-rainbow cupcake when a blue blur speeds by and splats the cupcake against her face, visibly vexing her. Sonic is seen tearing down the streets of Ponyville at high speeds, a cocky smile on his face before Rainbow Dash shows up flying parallel to him. 0:00: Rainbow Dash: "Hey, you big jerk! You ruined my cupcake! Just who do you think you are, anyways?" Sonic flashes a cocky smile and scoffs. Sonic: "Uh, hello? Do the words "Sonic T. Hedgehog" ring any bells for you? I'm pretty famous after-WOAH!" Rainbow "accidentally" bumps Sonic off course and into a nearby apple cart, laughing as she speeds off. Sonic bursts from the cart and leaps onto Rainbow's back and starts pummeling her head as the two crash into the dirt. 0:10: Both stand up with scowls on their face. Rainbow: "Come at me, you big bully!" Sonic: "Alright, time for me to beat the rainbow out of you!" Both bolt towards eachother at supersonic speeds, meeting in a blur of fists and compressed air waves. 0:23: Sonic homing attack's Dashie's spine and bounces her off the floor before landing on her and surfboarding down the streets with Rainbow as the board. Sonic: "WOOOOOOOOOOO! Riding the ridiculous!" Dash: "Hrrrrrrrrrngh! No.... free.... RIDES!" Rainbow Dash flaps her wings hard enough to create a miniature sonic boom beneath her, launching Sonic into the air with a surprised yelp as she dives at him multiple times, only for Sonic to grab her tail by the last dive and throw her into the ground. 0:34: Rainbow Dash explodes out of the ground, now spinning like an equestrian drill and attempts to drill into Sonic, only for the blue blur to curl up and preform what may be attributed as an aerial Spindash towards Dashie, causing a horrifically shrill sound similar to nails on metal to ring out before Sonic flipkicks Dashie down and starts repeatedly homing attacking her. 0:56: Rainbow Dash eventually kicks Sonic off using both of her hind legs, then pins him to her front and extends one foreleg down, grinding Sonic against the gravel road before flip-kicking him into the air. Dash moves in with a thundercloud and chucks it towards Sonic as he recovers, then gives it a powerful kick, causing lightning to explode out of it! 1:07: ....Only for it to be revealed that Sonic had destroyed a Lightning Shield monitor moments prior, and stands on the cloud with a unimpressed look. RD: "Uh..... hehehehe..... I'm-" Sonic: "Not cool dude. _Not cool._ " Sonic then dashes into RD using Boost, the added effect of the Lightning Shield electrocuting RD before slamming into the ground, both taking off in different directions. RD looks behind herself as she sees Sonic take off in the _opposite direction_ , confusing her before Sonic appears out of nowhere and clocks her with a fist at near-speed-of-light velocities, throwing her through the city and tearing much of it up. 1:29: Sonic stops and flashes another grin as RD let's out a yell of anger before dive tackling Sonic and repeatedly hitting him with one of her forelegs. RD: "WHY-ARE-YOU-DANG-EV-" Sonic quiets her by kneeing her in the stomach. Sonic: "Woah woah woah! Your the one who killed my mojo! I didn't do squat!" RD let's out a makeshift battlecry before charging towards Sonic, who simply crouches down and hits her in the cheeks with a powerful kick, launching her into a nearby water tower. 1:51: Sonic turns away from the impact zone and chuckles at the result. Sonic: "Well, guess that's one way to make a rainbow!" RD then bursts out of the same hole the impact made, now snarling like a feral animal. Sonic: "Huh, must've misjudged how-UGH!" RD: "SHUT UP!" RD unleashes a barrage of kicks on Sonic, knocking him higher and higher into the air before Sonic counters one kick and dive kicks her into the ground. RD rises up again and grabs Sonic by the chest before diving down and unleashing a Sonic Rainboom, driving both deep into the ground, only for RD to rise out, seemingly victorious. RD: "AW YEAH! Now that's what i call a super sonic-" 2:13: Sonic: "NOW I'LL SHOW YOU!" Sonic bursts from the ground, now golden and enveloped with Chaos Energy, Super Sonic has entered the game. RD: "......oh." Super Sonic teleports behind dash and knocks her into the air, then barrages her with split second attacks that she can't register before charging up and striking her back with a Super Sonic Spin dash, flattening the rest of Ponyville and leaving a giant crater in it's wake. 2:30: RD reengages the Super Sonic, both clashing at near-incalculable speeds and both about to deal a finishing blow when...... Sonic's fur changes from gold to blue, his super transformation having worn out! Sonic: "Gh! No!" RD: "Aw yeah! Now to wrap this up!" RD grabs Sonic by his head quills and flies him directly above the earth, almost to the upper atmosphere as she begins warming up her wings, Sonic however seems to be concentrating on something..... RD dives down, ready to make one HELL of a Rainboom..... 2:52: .....Only for a flashing, multicolored figure to stop RD in her tracks, practically holding her back by her head. Gone is the golden shimmer of Super Sonic, now comes the multicolored god that is Hyper Sonic. HS flipkicks Dash away before forming a small orb of Chaos Energy in his hand, teleporting behind her and smashing it into her back, launching her into Equestria's moon and fragmenting it into multiple shards. RD then zooms out, her mane frayed and one eye bloodshot like an animation from years past, Hyper Sonic's only response being to extend one arm and challenge her once again as both clash at beyond supersonic speeds. 3:03: However, Hyper Sonics invulnerability and sheer speed overwhelm the wonderbolt. Sonic grabs RD's wings, prompting her to yelp. RD: "W-wait! Don't do it!" Sonic: "Snazzy pair of flappers there! Mind if i take 'em for a...... SPIN?" Sonic curls up into his ball form and uses the momentum generated by his spin dash to tear off RD's wings, the Pegasus letting out a howl of pain as Sonic spin dashes into her back, using the Boost to rocket down from orbit towards the crater that was once Ponyville. Atmospheric reentry causes a flaming aura to surround both Pegasus and hedgehog, a bright multicolored shimmer now beginning to engulf the hyper hedgehog. RD: "No..... NO WAIT!" Too late. Sonic uses his Hyper Flash just as they touch down at the center of the crater, causing a giant flashing multicolored nuclear explosion to erupt from the middle of the crater, widening it even further and wiping out the neighboring city of Canterlot. As the explosion dies down, Hyper Sonic is seen at the center, floating before a few strands of flaming rainbow hair before he suddenly turns back into Sonic. Sonic: "Gee, if you really wanted to make this flashy, you could've just asked Hyper me."

Really fast horse that can fly, manipulate weather, travel faster than the eye can track, is the head of what equates to the Military, and has already bested a Transformer vs super saiyan walking buzzsaw that can time travel under the right conditions… Sorry RD, this wasn’t your day

Even disregarding the higher end feats and Super Sonic entirely, Sonic wins easily. The track sounds amazing btw. (Edit: Turns out Rainbow Dash has multiversal feats)

Y'know, even if this is a massive stomp for Sonic it still almost feels like a legacy matchup given those old animations of the two racing against one another. The name of the track couldn't have been chosen better either. Absolutely perfect. And the song itself is just magnificent too, catches both franchises/characters perfectly. That piano part starting at 1:51 works surprisingly well too, you wouldn't expect piano of all things to work in a matchup such as this but it works great either way. Art also does really well. Overall a really good song that I'm surprised wasn't commissioned earlier.

If Sonic ever comes back to death battle, I have a feeling he’s gonna fight RD or at least some other speedster, maybe even Goku. Hopefully they don’t downplay both characters if that happens

Man I remember when this crossover was everywhere in the early 2010's. I really like the rock mixture of green hill and I'll Fly here. Very fitting for the characters here. Pretty sure Sonic wins even without the chaos emeralds.

The connections between Sonic and Rainbow Dash is that they are considered the coolest loyal and fastest blue animals in their respective series (Sega and My Little Pony) Both are friends with the smartest animal (Miles Tails Prower and Twilight Sparkle) a crazy girl (Amy Rose and Pinkie Pie), the strongest animal (Knuckles and Apple Jack) and one who is attracted to jewels (Rouge and Rarity)

It's time for a speedy script. Startup: we start off in Green hill (I know, I know). Rainbow Dash is flying around however she wants. When she flys past the waterfall, she zooms by a napping Sonic, who wakes up startled and annoyed at her. Sonic: "Hey! Could you please keep it down!" Rainbow Dash looks down at the blue hedgehog and flys down. Rainbow Dash: "Sorry, it's just that I sometimes can't help myself when I fly, being the fastest and all." Sonic: "Fastest?" Rainbow Dash: "Yep. The fastest in all-" Sonic: "Sorry but, uh, I already claimed that title." Rainbow Dash: "You?" Sonic: "Yep. Sonic the Hedgehog, fastest thing alive, at your service." Rainbow Dash: "Well, this is a problem. There can one who is the fastest." Sonic: "Well, here's an obvious solution: we race. First one to race across the planet and back here win." Rainbow Dash: "You're on!" The two jump down on the ground and get ready. Rainbow Dash: "On the count of 5. One, FIVEGO!!!!" Rainbow Dash takes off like a rocket, literally leaving Sonic spinning around and to collect his bearings. Sonic: "Wha-?! HEY!!!!" Sonic takes off and quickly catches up to Rainbow Dash as "Sonic Rainboom" ques. 0:00: Sonic: "Cheap trick pony." Rainbow Dash: "How's this for cheap?" She rushes ahead and headbutts a tree and kick it at Sonic. Sonic slides under it and sees that Rainbow Dash isn't afraid to play rough and dirty. Sonic: "Alright, my turn." 0:11: Sonic does a homing spin attack and knocks the pony down. She gets back up and charge kicks Sonic who parrys with his own. This keeps happening until Sonic makes a tornado with his speed, sucking RD in. Sonic: "What's wrong? Can't handle a little wind?" Rainbow Dash: "I don't know. Can you?" 0:29: Rainbow Dash uses her ability to control the weather to reverse the tornado and launches Sonic out. She flys ahead and headbutts Sonic into the air. Rainbow Dash: "Huh. Guess not." Rainbow Dash takes off as Sonic uses his stomp ability to get back on the ground. Sonic: "I need to catch her by surprise. (Sees a laser wisp) Perfect!" 0:40: Sonic absorbs the wisp and takes off. He hits Rainbow Dash just as the wisp gives out. Sonic: "Thanks little guy." The wisp waves back and leaves as Rainbow Dash gets up. Sonic: "What's wrong? You to slow?" Rainbow Dash is starting to get annoyed and yells back "How's this for slow?! 0:56: Rainbow Dash trys to charge tackle him, but Sonic just side steps her. Sonic: " Yeah, I think that's pretty slo-UGH!" Rainbow Dash cuts him off, using his arrogance against him as she follows up with more attacks before kicking him into a thunder cloud and making it electrifie Sonic. . . 1:16 only for Sonic to reappear with an electric shield. Rainbow Dash flys up and immediately back down, creating a sonic rainboom while Sonic uses a spin attack and (Thanks to the shields extra abilities) double jumps out of the way and does a homing attack on her. Rainbow Dash then body slams Sonic into a sign, destroying the sheild. The two continue racing and fighting (NOW you can use your imaginations). 1:35: Rainbow Dash needs more power and speed in order to beat Sonic, so she taps into the tree of harmony, her spirt of loyalty. Her mane and tail grow longer and spiky and her wings glow rainbows. Sonic looks behind him and sees the pony's new power. Sonic: "What the-!?!?" Rainbow Dash: "Like that? Watch this." Rainbow Dash shoots all kinds of magical projectiles at Sonic and while he avoids them for the most bit he can't doge them all. After the onslaught, Rainbow flys above him and laughs. 1:51: Rainbow Dash: "You're fast, I'll give you that, but when it comes to power, I'll show you how outclassed you are." She flys off as Sonic closes his eyes. 2:00: the 7 chaos emeralds encircle him and Sonic goes into his super form. Super Sonic: "I'm in a class all my own. Time to put up or shut up pony." 2:10: Super Sonic catches up to Rainbow Dash and speed attacks her. Rainbow Dash: "Wha- YOU AGAIN!?!?!?" Super Sonic: "I missed you too. Hehehe." Rainbow Dash: "Grrrr." The two duke it out in the sky as the clash rapidly, with Rainbow Dash launching more magic attacks and Sonic dogging them. (GO WILD HERE). 2:39: unfortunately, Sonic's super form doesn't last long and gives out, causing Sonic to fall and land face first in a box of rings in his games which he quickly collects. Rainbow Dash then attempts to use BFR (Battle Field Removal) to eliminate Sonic once and for all. . . 2:48: but Sonic turns into his Hyper form and uses his speed combined with his hax to resist the effects. He then launches RD above the clouds with Hyper Sonic having a serious look on his face. Rainbow Dash, who is in a desperate state and has the face to prove it, charges at Hyper Sonic while Hyper Sonic uses hyper flash. Does Rainbow Dash have a plan? Is she safe?. . . . . .Well, that's for you to decide. What did you think? Get ready for a script filled with power. "A Cold Inevitable" (Thanos vs Frieza) is up next. Oh my God this song is awesome. This MU has always seemed weird to many but it's a pretty good MU tbh. This song has great elements of great Sonic music and kind of "orchestral" element from MLP. Also I believe Sonic should win unless this MLP Multi or Uni stuff applies to Rainbow Dash.

Now this is just way past magical.

Some might think this is weird, but I actually think this fight would work well in three distinct phases with each one being in a different animation style. Have the first be in sprite where Sonic starts running a little faster than normal through green hills and gets himself lost and ends up running into RD[who was practicing flying or something idk]. They get into some sort of misunderstanding and then the fight starts, with both characters getting into a race of sorts as they're fighting[think Archie Sonic vs Wally West]. Then the fight transitions into 3D to pay homage modern Sonic games. Once the finale act kicks in, then have showdown end in hand-drawn[think Mario vs Sonic 2].

As a long-time major Sonic fan since childhood, I've recently finally given MLP a shot and gotten into it, (and as it so happens, Rainbow Dash is my favorite,) which has suddenly _really_ made me want to see a crossover of some kind between these two. I would love this match-up lmao

This What If Battle Score is so awesome and an absolute banger, it makes me wanting a Vocal Version of this song. That would be really great.

I'm not a MLP fan by any stretch (I don't hate the show or people who like it, I just kinda don't care). But this piece makes me happy on so many levels. The references to Sonic music, the upbeat guitar solos and carefree nature, and the piano numbers that simultaneously slow things down a hair while not sacrificing integrity... It's all a big ball of comfort-music. And I absolutely love it for that.

This still exist..... nice Also Sonic stairght-up stomps both literally and figuratively. Regardless of wether you use the games or Archie comics, both versions have calcs that put him around uni+ to multi-uni+ in their base and speed have been calced to be between infinite to immeasurable. And that's ignoring their super forms (and Several power-ups). So Rainbow Dash may have defeated starscream but she had definitely reached the end of her rainbow. Also I have an idea for a track Greed within the lamp( Eraazor djinn vs Jafar) (sonic and the secret rings vs Aladdin 2: return of Jafar)

Would Sonic get his full list of power-ups and abilities, or would this be like Mario Vs Sonic rematch where they intentionally screw him over with one power-up and 10 second hyper form vs a bunch of non-canon material? What? No, I'm not still salty over that mistake of a 100th episode.

People are still shit-talking this matchup on the Death Battle Fanon Wiki when in reality if they actually did the research by delving into the show and IDW comics (of which are canon), they would realize this matchup is far closer than it appears. Sure, Sonic still wins but at least the people would stop thiningk that the bronies and MLP fandom are crap. Cause that type of thinking is what leads to gatekeeping, toxicity, hateful speech and harassment.

Besides how much of a stomp this is, it's still a cool match, it's just sad now that if it ever does come true that is will be an Matchup, then this song won't be used for "Legal Reasons" As Brandon said.

Even just base form Sonic could stomp Rainbow Dash, since he defeated Erazor Dijon, who was able to erase the Arabian Nights World, which are basically seperate dimensions, and he erased all of that. And Sonic beat him in BASE FORM. And given Darkspine is omniversal due to defeating Erazor Dijin in his strongest form when he erased the entire Arabian Nights... Rainbow Dash is fcked.

While I am sure game Sonic wins, I imagine this would be a pretty cool fight as both are incredibly fast but have other specific abilities to make it more interesting with weather manipulation or elemental shields and both having access to incredibly powerful mythical power (Chaos Emeralds, Elements of Harmony and whatever replaced them). Reading some of the comments, I also gather Rainbow Dash also has more impressive feats in the comics which are apparently canon unlike Archie Sonic which is his own character so while I am sure Sonic is stronger, having defeated enemies that can eat whole timelines, this should still be a good fight and the personalities of these two would bounce off each other so well. I have heard that Death Battle is unwilling to do MLP matchups anymore, I even recall them mentioning they couldn't really think of who else to use besides Discord so this will likely never happen but I'd love to see it. I'd also love to see Applejack vs Sandy Cheeks, I assume the only guaranteed MLP matchup we'll be getting is Discord vs Bill Cipher but despite what DB thinks, they still have some good matchups for the characters. RD could be used again, I have seen Twilight paired with Spyro, Applejack could fight Sandy, Luna I have seen compared to the legendary from Pokemon Sun and I even considered putting her up against Amaterasu from Okami for a Sun vs Moon fight. Death Battle really shouldn't discount the series, there are some interesting and unique matches here.

Sonic Rainboom really suits it😅. If he had a super emerald then it would "Ultrasonic Rainboom😉" which is also a move from Rainbow Dash. Like always the name and cover are super and the music is awesome. 2:14 This really shows that this is about Sonic and Rainbow Dash because I can hear at this point their speedy natures and want for action and adventure. People who read about the IDW comic of mlp knows how crazy powerful the ponies are. If this were IDW Rainbow dash vs Archie sonic it would be somewhat of a close match but Rainbow dash would have a higher chance of winning even though I hate to admit it.
