I sometimes ship Knuckles and Rouge because they both have something in common. They are treasure hunters and they know gems. To me they are always gonna fight but sometimes they put their differences aside when there’s danger or a threat. Rouge doesn’t always feel any love for him but she likes flirting with Knuckles to make him angry. Knuckles just doesn’t like Rouge trying to steal his Master Emerald because he doesn’t want his island to fall. But sometimes they do work together, not in a romantic type. Shadow and Rouge don’t usually have a romantic hint because they are just best friends or partners and are GUN agents. Shadow doesn’t always show feelings for her but he does show some concern like the time he saved her from her fall. Rouge can be a tease to him when she calls him handsome. Other than that, they are just partners.
I ship Knuckles and Rouge together but I'm sure she wouldn't forsake her character or someone else over a gems(as much as she likes them). Personally I think Rouge gave up on the Master Emerald and she probably taughts him over it like she does in the ending to Heroes.

I'm on your side Alyssa, as a Knouge fan, I adore this couple because Rouge loves flirting with him. And I prefer Rouge understanding that the master emerald is important to Knuckles and she will never want to steal it. And yes I'm on your side that I also dislike Knuxsu.

To be honest I don't really ship Knuckles and Rouge because Rouge more likely uses Knuckles for the Master Emerald and Knuckles seems to kinda hate her. I respect your opinion though. I do however ship Knuckles x Shadow, not just for what they have in common, but also their interactions. My headcanon is that Knuckles and Shadow secretly had romantic feelings for each other, but Knuckles feared that Sonic and Tails would think of him differently, and Shadow feared that Rouge and Omega would think of him differently, so they pretended to be against each other in order to keep their teams (Knuckles is on team Sonic and Shadow is on team Dark) together. So basically Knuckles and Shadow have a forbidden love is what my theory is. I respect your opinion on Knuxouge but I'm just saying my opinion here.
I prefer Knuckles single, tbh. Idk... he just... a person who don't know alot about romance. The only ship i can approve is Knouge (not that much because she might using him) or Knikal (i'm also confused and don't know Tikal is his ancestor or not ) . Knuckles x Sticks.... i do kinda ship them because they're kinda less genius so i see the reason why people ship them but they don't have feeling for each other so no at same time.
I mean I USED to kind of ship Knuckles and Rouge but now, I don't think Rouge really likes him I think she just flirts with him to get a hold of the Master Emerald. I understand why you ship them though and I totally respect that. But I still prefer Knuckles to be with Shadow (a lot people are going to attack me for this lol). I know they aren't actually a couple in the Sonic Franchise but in my book, Shadow and Knuckles will be a thing.
