I love how much character this game has..everything is so detailed! Sonic's reflection in the special stages pinball machine is such a nice touch. It was cool to see the final stage, I always got stuck on The Machine!
Such a cool game, really hard but once you get the hang of it, it becomes super fun. Blown away by this speedrun though, I could never beat a stage in 9 minutes let alone the whole game
I grew up playing this game for years and had no clue skips like that were even possible, let alone skips in general! Was pause buffering or something used in the first skip?
Yea, I'm pause buffering in order to find the exact pixel perfect positions to hold a certain direction out of the pause in order to hit the correct bounces. Thanks!
@@DerpityDerpz1 Strangely enough, Spinball seems to have really big zones of pixels for its physics calculation, which are easily demonstrated with the flippers. You'd think you can go pretty much any direction, but there are less than 10 angles you can shoot yourself off in at any given time. You can see at 8:15 where he presses the flippers just to have Sonic immediately bounce in that same pre-determined direction the moment he makes contact with the flipper. Obviously much easier to manage on Normal speed, and once you understand how the game functions like that, it's relatively easy to complete. That is the main issue, though, is learning those unintuitive mechanics.
