Sonic Superstars Public Demo Coming SOON? 2D Modern Skins, Super Amy In Origins Plus REVEAL, & MORE! 

So do y'all think we're actually gonna get a public demo for this game? Also what do you think about there NOT being any modern skins for the characters?

To clarify the wanting shadow in superstars, i watched the shacknews interview and the interviewer asked that question as a joke. The interviewer was aware of shadow being modern, it was only a joke. Don’t know why some people took that as some seriously considering shadow for a classic game lol

People are still forgetting that there is a PC port for this game and that mods exist. Even if there's no modern skins, it's still possible that people can import custom character models

🤷 I THINK, a Shadow outfit for Sonic would be cool. Like how the newsletter Amy Skin is Modern Amy. Don't really care not classic characters. Me and I’m sure a few others would be so down to have a classic shadow looking cosmetic for Sonic. That's just my opinion. Call it cringe or lame or whatever, I just like the character so I think it would be sweet. He would still be stubby and short, have black eyes, same animations, just a different appearance. That’s just my opinion. Probably won’t happen but I think it would be pretty cool. I don’t think it rlly has to make too much sense, considering with what we’ve seen in the Sonic Universe so far considering it’s just a skin and won’t change anything I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Bet their will be more alternative costumes for the characters too. Like giving knuckles his hat from that game I can’t remember. Maybe soap shoes for Sonic? No clue. I just think these would look neat in this amazingly looking game.

I'm surprised Espio, Charmy and Vector couldn't be featured characters. Timeline wise they would fit. They were that last sprite based characters before the 3D era. Even more fans are familiar with them now then they were back then. Either that or give us a new Chaotix game.

Man, the other characters really draw the short end of the stick with Super forms. And since Sega refuses to use the Super Emeralds (for some FUCKING reason) it's probably gonna stay that way.

Honestly I agree with you on shadow. Despite I’m a fan of the character it’s gotta make sense, like they can’t do classic sonic like how they did him in forces.

I think its crazy, but funny that Christopher Lloyd is going to be in the Knuckles show. I can definitely see him being Gerald Robotnik, but what if its something else? What if he's being cast as a voice for an animated character? Maybe instead of another mad scientist, he'll be a villain like Judge Doom from Who framed Roger Rabbit. And maybe that villain is an echidna mad scientist with white fur who uses rings to teleport to Earth. And yes, I'm totally suggesting a Doctor Finitevus type of character. I mean if Sonic movie 2 is able to include Archie homages like Enerjak and Knuckles having a father, they can make an original villain that bares the spirit of Finitevus and Doctor Zachary from STC. I'm not saying they have to include Archie elements. I just think it would serve as a neat way to bring in more characters like the Chaotix, Rouge, and even Amy through warp rings and to have a new villain influenced by what came before.

I just want Mighty, Ray, The Chaotix, Bark, Bean and Honey the cat to be in the game for dlc. 10:32 The classic characters could have their modern shoes.

If Christopher Lloyd is the doc from Back to the future, I can definitely see him play Geralt Robotnik in Sonic 3.

TBH, I wasn't shocked that Shadow isn't in Sonic Superstars, and side-note Shadow is from the Morden Era, not the classic era.

Amy was "hard mode" in Sonic Advance. Especially the first one.

The thing is, if it is in the split timeline, it does make sense at some point to see an alternate version of some of the "Modern" characters - after all the timeline only Split in Sonic 2/Sonic Generations not over 50 years ago, so Shadow is still buried away somewhere(like Cell), as is Chaos, Dark Gaia etc. I don't think they should just make classic style adaptions of the modern era games, but it would be cool to see new games using some of these characters and concepts in very different ways to what we saw in the existing games. I think people were mostly expecting Shadow and Blaze as Sonic skins in Superstars, to be honest, just to get a look at what an official classic shadow might look like.

It be cool to have these modern characters as skins for the characters but I have thought about that or just Amy clothes could be modern only.

10:05 I think the wording of their tweet might have misled you to believe that Amy is the exclusive character to have an alt skin in the game, rather than the skin itself being exclusive to players who signed up to the newsletter. Just because Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles don't wear clothes doesn't mean they couldn't modify their gloves and shoes. They could either give Sonic the Soap shoes like in Frontiers or give him the Light Speed shoes and Crystal Ring from SA1. Tails could have mini Jet Anklets and the Rhythm Badge or the goggles he wore in the OVA (which were also referenced in Mania). And of course, they'd have to give Knuckles the OVA hat and maybe even the Shovel Claw from the Adventure games. If anything, the less materials they'd have to rework on their models would make it easier to give them alternate skins than Amy. I just don't see why the devs would go out of their way to either remodel or reconfigure Amy's model to switch her clothes for a free newsletter reward and not give the other characters the same treatment. TL;DR - Literally nothing confirmed or deconfirmed for modern skins besides Amy's.

Iizuka, you can't really bring up Frontiers and Superstars as examples of looking to the future. Frontiers is a game full of past references, and Superstars is in the classic style.

Classic Chaotix would be perfect to add to a DLC expansion for this game, just putting that out there. Especially if Mighty doesn’t end up being in the launch version of the game, it can totally be the whole crew as another 4 characters to do full co-op with. Alternatively, Mighty is in the base game as that fifth character that’s being speculated and he’s the bridge between the base game and a possible Chaotix DLC. That’s getting way too dar ahead though, feels good to be this excited foe a Sonic game man, haven’t felt this since Mania,

I'm not against bringing modern characters into classic games. I may be alone in that opinion, but I think the modern characters could spice up the classic style. We always get Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, Imagine using Shadow's chaos powers in 2D or silver's telekinesis. Those could be fun different playstyles. As for continuity, games like Generations and 06 already messed it up. It's too late to start caring and using that as a reason. Unless the main series gets rebooted, it does and always will have huge problems.

So many people growing up on SA2 is a myth, it was on console that barely anyone owned. I bet that way more people grew up on Sonic Heroes which was on everything.

Dragon Ball Z is the name of the anime adaptation of the latter two thirds of Akira Toryama's Manga, which is just called Dragon Ball all the time, so the example doesn't make much sense because the character is in the one and only Dragon Ball by Akira Toryama. One would have to ask a Toei animation guy on why, and the answer would be what I wrote just above.

Oh wow never thought I'd be pissed about the reveal of Super Amy, but here we go... What should have been the climax of a Sonic Adventure 3 plot gets reduced to a bonus feature in a game collection, in the most shabby way ever possible. Sonic the Hedgehog (m) can go Super Sayan. Shadow the Hedgehog (m) can go Super Sayan. Silver the Hedgehog (m) can go Super Sayan. Amy Rose (f), also a Hedgehog, cannot go Super Sayan. Sega went from being lightyears ahead in terms of cast diversity to questionably ignorant. Remember how Amy's storyline in Sonic Adventure 1 was all about emancipation? Where are we now 25 years later?

If they are going with classic by leaving SHADOW out of it then it makes no sense at all because shadows is the one that started using each emerald individually while everyone else had to collect all 7 plus time travel won't be anything new but not as a mechanic maybe as a back story in this case it's just all excuses not to add a character a tons of fan are really hoping to get but let's face it shadow the hedgehog is getting the WALUIGI treatment.

It would be plausible for classic shadow and blaze to exist one day. When generations happened there was a canonical timeline split. Modern sonic was still classic sonic once, but not anymore, modern sonic didn’t experience sonic mania or now superstars because they are in a different timeline. Now classic sonic won’t ever be modern sonic either, meaning he most likely won’t experience most of what modern sonic has done, or if he does he will experience it differently. Like meeting shadow or blaze

I won’t even bother getting it if they made shadow in here. I wish the game was hand drawn. With sonic CD art style but this will do. Especially if the background elements of the presentation are good.

What he meant with Amy was: the super state is having the abilities of being super, but you don't look like a super, think Tails and K.T.E from heros vs overlord, the super FORM can only be achieved by male hedgehogs, that is the thing that makes you glow yellow and have your hair bend up, that's what SEGA meant i think, so other character can officially go super, but in a super STATE, not forms.

I rather want to see the 2nd or 3rd DLC if Sonic team include the momentum physics properly and in frontiers 2 with good adventure/GT open world design and see what they learned before making a SA1 remake heck Sonic team really needed to remaster SA1&2 on the same quality as 06-P

Shadow was put into stasis for 50 years and then awakened by Dr. Eggman Not Dr. Robotic. If they put Shadow in Superstars the whole Sonic series timeline will not make sense. Mighty, Ray, Espio, Vector, Charmy, Bark, Bean and Tails Doll will most likely make return to the series if SEGA cares.

Ayo, could've been hand drawn? That's visually the best direction a 2D Sonic game can go, imo. Maybe you're right though-- it takes too much time. Assuming all of good quality: Hand drawn > 3D/2.5D > Retro Pixel Sprite (yes, it's an overrated visual style)

I would love a hand drawn Modern Sonic game but still ya I agree. Like Cuphead's development, it would take ages for them to finish. I still wish Superstar had sprite graphics cuz I don't really like the Gens Classic look tbh, but still I do like hope Bridge Island looks and I'm definitely interested in how the other lvls look. Wish we got a Toei Sonic look or 3d model of it instead of Gens Classic Sonic but at least either skins or mods will come through.

Well, for a 2D Sonic game in 2023 that'll cost 60 dollars, the least they can do is pack up at least 20 zones, 3 acts each (longer than Mania) and release a free demo almost obligatorily. I'll just get it on sale anyway - not looking forward to playing this one for now.
