This is a playthrough of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the SEGA Master System. Please note this game contains strong, full-screen flashing lights, so viewer discretion is advised.
I know this one's not exactly that popular... for me, it's an "eh, it's a'ight" kinda deal. Kinda fiddly in a lot of sections and the final boss is unfairly hard, but I can live with it.

No rings during bosses, no checkpoints in the levels, no spin dash like on the 16 bit.... I remember this game as a kid. It was definitely one of the hardest Sonic games.

And a hair-rippingly hard first boss on the Game Gear version, because of the screen crunch making it easier to hit it directly and unpredictable cannonball physics.

The springs in Green Hill 3 did my head in a bit as a kid. Gimmick Mountain 3 also gave me trouble too at first, as did Scrambled Egg zone. It was funny how easy Crystal Egg zone was once you got there. I always thought the music in the game was pretty cool though - especially Scrambled Egg zone and Gimmick Mountain zone.

Great no-damage speed run :-) I didn't know Sonic 2 existed on the Sega Master, although I knew Sonic 1 was on it and I have played it. Like with Sonic 1, it's quite different from the Megadrive versions. I imagine players got a bit of a treat when they saw Green Hills Zone, a throwback from the original game

What a throwback, I remember playing this game and never managed to get all the emeralds. The hidden paths with no guides werr very difficult to discover, it added to exploration though. Just played in emulator and understood the level of difficulty was higher than the first sonic

I find funny that the only place that power sneakers are available in the entire game is in the most useless place possible. Aqua Lake, act 2 where you are under water nearly 100% of the time.

Sonic the Hedgehog 1, labyrinth zone was a nightmare Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Aqua zone 2... I never beat It, It s so hard as HELL >< I used to play on Game gear SEGA... Finally I cheated using the code that you can select the zone you want. I know... IS not the way U.U
