No, Sonic 3 is happening regardless, but Rggman coming back is dependent on Jim. Jim did say Sonic is the only thing he'd actually be willing to continue doing, I believe, since he has a niece that likes Sonic a lot

The comedy, action, the build-up of Sonic's friendship with Tails and eventually Knuckles, Jim Carrey's performance, and the Master Emerald. This sequel is just so epic than it needed to be

49:37 they actually did use the water music it was just a soft orchestral version of it instead of it's usual anxiety inducing version. It was easier to hear in the theaters.

Two details: 1.- The name of the coffe shop is the Mean Bean, is a reference of a game, Dr. Robotnik's Bean Machine. 2.- The manual Eggman made of the giant robot is literally made after the box of a sega game.

As a Shadow fan, the slight slander hurt my soul but then it immediately bounced back imagining Shadow witnessing 9/11 and I shouldn't have laughed that hard at the thought! Also, this version of Knuckles is by far my favorite because his way of speech and behavior gives off Starfire from Teen Titans and I like the idea. Plus, my personal beliefs is that he still sorta talks like that for all versions in the beginning but due to his environment, Knuckles speaks with a more "modern" speech pattern. He still talks like that tho. Anyway, great reaction and I loved the video!

Jim Carey said he's retired, but he's still checking movie scripts and he said if one likes it enough he'll take the role.

I can't wait till the 3rd movie is out, Shadow is one of my favorite characters, I just hope Amy is introduced as she is a big part of his story.

While the reveal of Tails spying on Sonic is pretty creepy, Sonic himself stalked Tom and Macy for at least 3 years. Tails at most spied on Sonic for only a year. But Tails was aware of the legend of Sonic from their home planet and never saw the side of him that was alone. So I understand the initial reaction to Tails stalking him but Sonic is no different. This actually just shows how alike the two are bros4life

Going by what we've seen, don't sleep on Longclaw. It looks like she managed to take out Knuckles entire clan by herself, while injured, before going out.

what I find "Interesting" is these three kids could actually be adopted as a band of Brothers trio from different ages. Knuckles being a year older than Sonic and Tails being half of Knuckles's age. Or to make better sense of it: Knuckles the Echidna is 16 years old (Power Type) Sonic the Hedgehog is 15 years old (Speed Type) And Miles "Tails" Prower is 8 years old (Fly Type)

About Shadow, he wasn't just conceived as a simple "edgy character", he did have a bit of nuance and development to him in Adventure 2. Unfortunately, later games sometimes oversimplify or even misrepresent him, but his connection with Rouge and Omega is nice. His absence in Frontiers makes me wonder if they might re-assess their approach to his character in the future; it gave Sonic's main 3 friends some proper attention, and opens the way for others to be handled as such in the future

A little Easter Egg that I love in the movie in case you guys are unaware @45:28 notice the cafe Stone setup is called Mean Bean coffee co. There was a Sonic Spinoff of I believe Puyo Puyo called Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine on Sega. My friends and I loved it haha.

I got some things to say. 1, I believe the whole GUN plot line with the wedding was direct setup to the third movie, where they will play a bigger part. 2, Robotnic being "not found" at the end even tho it very much looked like he died is a safe hazard for if Jim Carry wants to return in a future film. Right now, he's retired, but if he wants to return, he can, and it would be justified with that one line at the very end.

For some insight on Shadow: he's the Vegeta to Sonic's Goku. I mean that entirely literally, until a few months ago SEGA had a clause in all their contracts for licencing that basically said 'If you portray Shadow, you are not permitted to show him as a developing character, he will stay the edgy rival to Sonic and that's all he can be'. I think they only started relaxing that this year, it was a nightmare for people doing the comics and stuff.

My theory is that Longclaw completely decimated Knuckles' tribe in battle, but then she succumbed to her own injuries and died right after. That's the only explanation for why it seemed like she never went looking for Sonic or why no one went back to the village to get Knuckles. And to think that in the original version of the script, Longclaw was supposed to go to Earth with Sonic where she continued to raise him until dying of old age but it was scrapped.

“You defeated junkrat but he dropped his bombs” As an overwatch connoisseur, I can say I understood this joke.

I like that Tom doesn't frown on Sonic wanting to be a hero and use his abilities to help people, he just wants Sonic to think everything through a little more before he does it and take better care about the collateral damage.

Eggman built a secondary power source using the engines of the vehicles he stole while he still had the power of the master emerald, just in case. Smart man.

Knuckles is said to be as strong as Sonic is fast, so he is hella strong.

I think the ones that were guardians of the Master Emerald (on the game) were the Echidnas that survived Perfect Chaos Wrath, they named him as "the god of destruction" and guard the master emerald so it doesn't get in the wrong hands and stop everyone that try to use it's power because that could bring chaos back, but with the passage of time, that knowledge of Chaos was lost, to the point that the Echidnas that protected the emerald did not really know why they did it, they only did it because it was their duty.

I haven't seen anyone talk about it but there was a prequel comic for this movie that explains more of the miniscule details like the origins of Blue Justice One more important detail that gets explained is who the guys Knuckles was with were. Basically they're called Scavengers and as far as we know they're trackers that run Casino Night Zone which is a level in Sonic 2 and they capture random people and creatures then hold tournaments for spectators to bet on There's also a Team Chaotix reference so they confirmed exist

Here's an interesting point someone brought up that I didn't think about, even though it's staring ALL OF US right in the face. Someone OTHER than a Hedgehog turned Super (it was a different appearance, but not all Super forms look alike). This is way more significant than people realize, because it means the movie universe has established that ANYONE can turn Super. It's not just limited to Hedgehogs. This opens doors that most people probably aren't thinking of.

The death egg robot looks so DUCKING COOL in the movie

The name GUN is a parody of SHIELD from the Marvel universe. Using a gun for the acronym is pretty fitting given their history - GUN in the games is initally presented a lot like the Marines in One Piece, in that they have an absolute justice policy and have gone to extremes in the past to carry it out, and have more than a few skeletons in their closet that they wanna keep hidden. By the end of Shadow's game they started mellowing out. The Commander during Shadow's game is shown to be more like Sengoku, someone who's more interested in protecting people than preserving GUN's image, and I'm pretty sure that's who the Olive Garden Guy is supposed to be, though it's not a 1-to-1 thing.

Watching this reaction a year after its release, and you've probably heard by now: Jim is back as Eggman for Sonic 3. Keanu Reeves is Shadow. What a time to be alive.

This movie was SO GOOD! It has no right to go this hard and be this awesome! Hell it even took the way overplayed "Stick the non-human character from another world where there aren't even humans on Earth and and add in a bunch of plotline about random humans" plot line and made it work! And yeah, best Knuckles! Making him a total meathead, but also a total fucking badass, Tails was his adorable best, just, everything about this movie was damn near perfect!

Oh my god, rewatching this after Knuckles’s spinoff that whole discussion of wade and his sister saying they know someone from Gun and how they were saying that sounds fake is hilarious to me now because there IS an actual corporation called Gun in their universe! 😂

If you guys are looking for shows to watch may I suggest RWBY by Rooster Teeth? RWBY (pronounced "Ruby") is an American anime-influenced computer-animated web series created by Monty Oum for Rooster Teeth. It is set in the fictional world of Remnant, where young people train to become warriors (called "Huntsmen" and "Huntresses") to protect their world from monsters called Grimm. The fight choreography is amazing, every weapon is dope, and the soundtracks are absolute bangers thanks to the talented Casey Lee Williams and her amazing father Jeff Williams. In some ways it’s similar to My Hero Academia with the majority of the characters have what we would consider superpowers.

One thing i really would have loved to see, even though i know it would never happen is Fleetway Super Sonic. Ya know when Knuckles was worried about Super Sonic being not himself? Yeah, this version gives that some real ground.

I'm not a Sonic fan and I don't know a lot about the lore. But this movie in theater felt so good ! Tails, Knuckles, Chaos Emerald, Super Sonic... Seeing Shadow teased at the end was amazing. We're getting a third movie and this is fantastic. I don't know how much there is lore for but I want to see it ! And now, I'm thinking about the Mario movie working as best as this, even more. I'm so hopeful for the futur !

Always weird when I see people who are somewhat Sonic fans reacting to this movie and explaining it to other people. Because they show they were exposed to a lot of lore. But don't remember it well enough to relay it accurately or differentiate it from the movie's lore. Nothing wrong with it. But a few notes, despite being months late and no one caring. In the games, Knuckles' ancestors lived near the shrine of the master emerald and chaos emeralds, and tried to steal the emeralds to win a war with another tribe and conquer other lands. However, this land was sacred and belonged to defenseless beings called Chao. The chief's daughter tried to stop them but they pressed on, trampling her and the Chao. A liquid being that was a guardian there appeared and used the emeralds to wipe them out. The chief's daughter used the Master Emerald to lift that land into the sky, now called the floating island, Angel Island, where the remaining echidnas were the guardians of the Master Emerald. Knuckles is the present day guardian and last of his kind. He fights Sonic when he meets him because he believes Sonic is trying to steal it according to Robotnik, who is actually tricking him to steal it himself. In the movie, Knuckle's people, modern times, were at war with the owls. They CREATED the Chaos Emeralds and merged them to MAKE the Master Emerald. THe owls took it to keep them from being too strong. Longclaw and the echidnas killed each other. But secretly, Sonic was given the secret hiding spot of the Master Emerald to essentially become its guardian where he must protect it from Knuckles (role reversal), but Robotnik is only helping him to get to the Master Emerald so he can steal it for himself. There are similarities, but it's very different.

Having Shadow being written correctly isn't the only VERY important thing that the Sonic 3 movie needs, it also VERY much needs the song "Live and learn" from the rock band Crush 40 to be playing during the climax of it at the right time! That song is the main theme of Sonic Adventure 2 and from research, seems to be 1 of the most popular songs ever made for a videogame, an absolutely awsome one that HAS to be put into the upcoming third Sonic movie!

I'm surprised that I myself didn't notice this until someone recently did a video on it, but there are a few times in the movie where Jim Carrey's voice sounds like Mike Pollock's Eggman

Shadow is actually a great character, he's probably the most complex and interesting in the entire franchise. The edgelord thing is something he became in the 2010s when most character were simplified to the point of feeling more like a parody of themselves since a lot of people used to criticize the more serious stories they thought didn't fit with a cartoony character (something I completely disagree with) Thankfully it seems that era is over thanks to Frontiers, which actually handles its characters really well

That Giant Robot robotnik built is called the Death Egg Robot. It made its first appearance as the final boss on Sonic 2, 3 as final bosses (in 3 if you collect a 7 chaos emeralds) also in Generation's & Lost World (Lost world's kinda looks similar in design)

Perfect timing, just watched this yesterday.

I saw this on release day. I did NOT expect super sonic at all- the audience was flabbergasted. Then post credits scene I was expecting metal sonic or shadow but my money was on metal, so when shadow was revealed the whole cinema just lost it- myself included. YES go play Frontiers- it’s slightly confusing to start as they’re trying to tie in the old games and create actual Lore and flashbacks but it’s a great story and a fun game!

A few things i like to mention. -Not only is Knuckles being on Robotniks side due to misunderstanding canon (It was like that in Knuckles introduction), but Knuckles being able to punch the master emerald out of robotnik is also a refference to Knuckles' introduction, where he punched the Emeralds out of Super Sonic. -I also wanna compare the temple to Angel Island, though i need to rewatch the movie myself. -Oh yeah, and the little push with the foot as Super Sonic? It's a Sonic 06 refference. -(Again, i really wanna add more rn, but i need to rewatch the movies and revisit some sonic media to pick everything out).

I hope we wont wait for 3rd movie for too long.... I absolutelly loved this movie more than first actually and cant wait for Shadow. And personally I'd love him to be voiced by Sam Witwer - voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars Clone Wars. His serious voice would fit in soooo much. I even asked him personally about that and he knows Sonics lore and would love to do that. Also as Czech guy, I can confirm that ,,Pivoňka" is flower here. Pivonka is just something made up forr the movie.

I mean, the 3rd one is confirmed, also there are other villains that can be used for the movies, Chaos, Metal Sonic, Dark Gaia, the scrapped villain of the first movie, even agent Stone, in the cómic pre-sequel showed that he could be a good villain and even know hoy to use Robotnik's machines, he could use Robotnik's robots with the idea of conquer the world on his name even he is not there anymore

Man I hope Jim will be willing to do 3. Its already greenlit and they said they wouldn't try to replace him with someone else so for the movie's sake too hopefully we'll see him one last time.
