Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Trailer Reaction 

Those crazy bastards. They're doing it. They're getting it RIGHT. They pulled off one of the biggest course corrections in cinematic history by listening to the fans and redesigning Sonic for the first movie. And now they're upping the ante in terms of characters and scope in this one. Tails. Knuckles. Chaos Emeralds. Adventure. FUN. Bravo, Paramount. Bravo.

That Knuckles shot goes HARD

As a Knuckles OG fan... I actually cried... like tears because this knuckles with Idris voicing him s perfection.

Adam went from not knowing anything about Sonic to detailing the Sonic cinematic universe in like 2.5 seconds.

I never knew I needed Idris Elba as Knuckles until this trailer. I'm so stoked for this movie! The first film was shockingly good, this looks like it's going to take everything from the first film and kick it up to 11

One thing that I love about this movie already is they brought in the voice actress who plays Tails in the games to reprise her role for this. Just think that’s neat.

At 5:05 the way Jay puts a finger up over his mouth, and that face when he makes when he laughs immediately made me think of Dr. Evil. Like this moment in the trailer was just so awesome he snapped.

Echidnas are adorable. Seeing them in the wild, waddling along, snuffling amongst the long grass, is just a delight that cheers you up for the rest of the day.

Out of all the reactions I seen so far, these guys seems far more genuine for some reason.

Knuckles is gonna be so freakin’ coool

If a couple years ago you told me that there was going to be a live action Sonic movie and it was actually going to be good enough to get a sequel i would have probably laughed. but now, I am so excited that this has done well. I am so in and already fully expecting Shadow to appear in the Third or even Chaos being in the Third movie. Paramount you have a huge win under your belts

If the post credits scene in this movie is Robotnik finding a diary and opening it and seeing “Maria” somewhere in the page I will have an out of body experience

It's amazing, cuz regardless of what people's opinions were about the first movie, it ended up being the number 2 film at the 2020 domestic box office (behind Bad Boys For Life). The facts that it was one of the last films people saw in theaters before lockdown began and that it actually made money was enough to green light a sequel. I'm very excited for this, not gonna lie.

As someone who grew up watching Sonic on Saturday mornings and played the games; the concept of getting a good, Sonic Cinematic Universe is really just frying my brain. Like Jay said, no cutesy tiny emerald. I want that chonky chaos stone hovering in the middle of an ancient tomb.

The bat was indeed called Rouge; but I'd bet that Team Shadow will be possibly set up for number 3; maybe Eggman gets some DNA from Sonic in this one to clone him. Alternatively it may be later down the line if they wanna be super faithful and introduce the Black Arms and Space Colony ARK, maybe even GUN, or the comics' Evil Super Sonic Also that's possibly a smaller version of the Master Emerald - which would make sense given how you see it on the altar plus Knuckles is its sworn protector - so other Chaos emeralds may still be out there.

I mean, Shadow wasn't created using Sonic DNA, but you know who was and who would fit into this cinematic universe MUCH better? ... METAL SONIC

As much as I would love the third movie to be Shadow. I think he should be number 4. And the third movie is Metal Sonic.

I'm so glad they fixed the original sonic in the movie! Just doing that boosted the movie up for me and now it's getting a sequel? Amazing. Unironically a good movie.

I think Sonic is the perfect series to do a video game movie trilogy with because there so many layers of character you can use and stories with the chaos emeralds. Like think next movie we can either get Shadow or Metal Sonic as the next villain while introducing Amy as another companion with Sonic, Tails, & knuckles. And then there so much they can do after that!

Just saying, it's wasn't a chaos emerald. It's the Master emerald and it's Knuckles's job to guard it. So we can already see where this story is going.

I enjoy the first movie but let's be honest about what it was. It was your standard family-friendly road trip comedy with some action elements thrown in that happened to star Sonic the Hedgehog. But this... This is a SONIC movie!! Unapologetically embracing the wackiness and charm of this world and just having a fun and exciting adventure with the universe's timeless characters. Hands down, I am there opening day!!

Sonic also cameo'd in Wreck it Ralph. A Disney movie while Mario only got a name drop.

I really hope this continues, because this could be one of the greatest movie game adaptations ever. There’s so much they could do with this! Infinite content. Egg man could make metal sonic and boom, sonic 3. Shadow comes in to do whatever he does and boom, sonic 4. I genuinely want this to be like 9+ movies

It´s incredibly stunning that SANIC (please read in Adam´s voice) a video game franchise that is known for being kind of swing and a miss, is doing video game movie adaptations so well, everyone is waiting for more. Awesome.

I am exactly like Adam. I had zero emotional connection to Sonic, I went to see the movie on one hand to support them because they redid the design but on the other because I was expecting a mess. I loved hearing the sfx from the games, loved that they added Sanic, Jim Carrey was just how I remembered from my childhood, and was a great movie overall. I'm excited to see this sequel and I can't believe I'm saying that

7 chaos emeralds and 1 master emerald that Knuckles is the guardian of, although the master emerald should be larger then what's shown I think that is what's being portrayed, Knuckles would not be involved in this way otherwise.

Okay for not knowing any Sonic lore, you know A LOT of Sonic lore. Oh Idris was Macavity, not Mr Mistoffelees

I remember seeing trailers for the first Sonic movie and not being able to take it seriously... but watching the sequel trailer legit had me hyped. And the moment Adam mentioned the potential of having Shadow in a future film... I think I've gotta give these movies a watch.

the live-action super mario bros movie with leguizamo and hoskins is the greatest AU fanfiction ever written, it is a glorious dumpster fire of warmth in an icy wasteland, a shining treasure pried forth from the dungheap of one of the worst production nightmares in movies. Is it what people expected or wanted? hell no. but is it a fun movie to turn off your logic brain and enjoy the cool sets and props and impressive for the time effects and giggle at the bad jokes and game references? YES. its also one of only 3 pieces of mario bros media that remembers that Pauline existed (Mario's girlfriend in the movie aka the girlfriend you rescue in Donkey Kong, AKA Mayor of New Donk City in another game which just proves that dating Mario is dangerous and his exes are more successful and 100% less likely to be kidnapped without him around. ^_^ )

NGL, I'd had zero desire to see the Sonic movie. Then I saw Adam rave about it today. My son and I watched it tonight and LOVED EVERY MOMENT OF IT.

They’re Spider-Man sequelling it, except instead of just multiple villains they are doing both multiple partners and multiple villains.

how does 2 guys who are like "I know nothing and don't care about sonic" and "meh we were a mario house" know several characters from that universe and love them that much?! haha It's impressive how invested and hyped Adam is, I thought the first one was okay, didn't feel that special to me tbh, but I guess I'll watch it again, trying to find my inner Adam and get hyped!

i absolutely loved the first one. it was the last movie i saw in theaters, it was a sweet simple story and you got to really like Sonic, Donut Lord and Robotnik, but with this one: I might love it more. there are SOOOOO many callbacks to the games like Eggman's drones looking more like he's Badniks, he's Egg-mobile and seeing what could possibly either Angel Island or the Mystic Ruins from Sonic Adventures and that's not even going into the stuff with Tails, Knuckles and the Chaos/Master Emerald! I'm over the moon!

They put Idris Elba in everything now he's in Knuckles

They could have Robotnik building metal Sonic in the end credits, they could have Sally and the rest of the resistance (bunny and Rotor included) show up , or chaos. They can go full Mobius Sonic , and make him overpowered like the comics. Add Mammoth mogul , or just shadow . Who knows what they could do.

I find it hilarious how amusingly fitting Jim Carrey is as Robotnik.

All the uproar about the design of Sonic when the first trailer dropped (and rightfully so, it WAS hideous!). Who knew that Sonic the Hedgehog would become such a fun and enjoyable movie? That first movie was a sleeper hit for me. What a pleasant surpise. Sonic 2 look great too!

Shadow is a whole like more than just "Evil Sonic". First of all Shadow technically came first created by Eggman's Grandfather 50 years ago based on a mural that may have prophesied Super Sonic. Shadow doesn't really age but he has been cryofrozen and imprisoned in a military bunker. Secondly Shadow looks like a bad guy doppelganger but his color scheme was made to be an intentional red herring to the players. Shadow starts off on a revenge quest to destroy the world because government agents came to capture him and murdered his best friend Maria (Eggman's Cousin), but at a critical moment he remembers this is not what Maria wanted...in fact her last wish was for Shadow to protect the world, so Shadow throws away all his prior goals and goes to help Sonic nearly even sacrificing himself to make sure Sonic gets back alive. Third, for all Sonic 06 did wrong, they did Shadow very right! He is a big damn hero all the way in that game. The Main Antagonist Mephiles parades around in a form based on Shadow and tried to corrupt Shadow telling him that Humanity will inevitably turn on him and blame him for a catastrophe he had no part in, to convince Shadow to fall back on revenge and join him. Shadow calls Mephiles out on his true nature, he only craves destruction, and tells him he will have no part in any of Mephiles' plan. He doesn't care what the world thinks of him, he will just continue to fight as he always has to protect the world.

Shadow will have to wait, we need Sonic 3 & Knuckles vs Metal Sonic first

So, here's the thing, Adam. Robotnik already TRIED using one of Sonic's quills to make an evil machine in the LAST movie, and the evil version of Sonic is literally just a robot that looks like Sonic, so if they did that, they'd be treading old roads, and these movies seem to wanna be unique from each other. Last one was a buddy cop film, this one's a superhero movie.

I'm ready for this movie, definitely going to see this. Love the first movie but this trailer alone brings the sequel up many notches. I love this trailer, seen it many many times now and on reactions. Hard to belive, finally a successful and loved video game movie and the sequel more praised and will be successful. Everyone should go see this movie. I give it huge 👍👍👍👍
