Yeah, but the Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis port is poorly made. The sounds are far more inaccurate than the homebrew and gameplay has some errors and bugs.
It's pretty much a direct port of that version, albeit with some minor differences (Bridge zone act 2 doesn't auto scroll for example) and superior audio. The C64 is well known for its audio capabilities, courtesy of the SID chip. Note that this version requires a 256k RAM expansion to run.

Fun fact: that one is called Sonic Genesis, this is a demo and a proof of concept to show that an actual good game can be made with proper physics unlike that crappy Sonic Genesis one we got for the GBA
