Big Boy ; not really, but the beginning is always buggy and this game makes better use for the super gems consequences, in Sonic 1 it ads flowers to the ending, in this game, if you don’t collect all the time stones, even if you make a good future in all the zones, you will still get the ending.

Naoto Ohshima, who actually directed Sonic CD by the way, actually sprinkled in the idea of going back in time and changing the outcome of the future. That kind of concept of time manipulation was experimented deeply when he also directed Blinx the Time Sweeper after he left Sonic Team and formed Artoon.

Mister Bacon I personally think what this game does with its level design is really unique. The past and bad future levels represent the dominance of nature and the dominance of technology, respectively. But the good future represents a healthy marriage of the two, where they can coexist without conflict. It's certainly not a take we see much at least.

Some people love the level design of Sonic CD but I like you thought it was sometimes really messy and not well thought out. A shame as I really want to like Sonic CD. I wish Christian Whitehead had been allowed to redesign the levels of Sonic CD (and add Desert Dazzle and Final Fever) when Sega contracted him and his team to remake Sonic CD for the mobile devices, PC, and console stores.

@@Colddirector I think you're getting a little too lost in the sauce with what he meant. The levels, be it past, present, or future, are just all so busy looking. It's hard to appreciate the design when everything is just thrown at you. The genesis games had graphics limitations that made for more simple levels which were just way more visually pleasing than this.

I like both versions of the soundtrack... the first time I ever played this game it was with USA version. I love the act 3 soundtrack because Robotnik's laugh is very scary. I like too every Tidal Tempest and Metallic Madness soundtrack (USA version). However, when I played Japanese version, I have to admit that the sountrack is better (in my opinion), especially PAST acts (the soundtrack are the same in both versions, I know). In my opinion, the music of act 3 in japanese seems like a gym teacher in a running lesson... in USA version the act 3 Robotnik's laugh is awesome...

Man I remember moments on this game where I was on the last special stage on the last level (Metallic Madness Act 2) I had 6 seconds and I missed the Timer UFO But the last UFO was behind it and I had 3 seconds left and then 2 1 but slightly after it went to 0 I got the UFO and I was like 😮😰😲😵 NO WAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
