Did they ever get a chance to check his microchip to find his original owners⁉️ I know they said in the beginning they couldn't because sonic was scared but I think they should try again bc this dog I'm sure his orginal owners are most likely looking 4him worried sick. I think just bc he was scared b4 and couldn't check it they should try again

Rocky. I had a female malamute when I lived in Pacific Grove, California on the pacific ocean. Every time I opened the door she would run past me and out the door. Some times I wouldn't get her back for 3 days! It was so stressful. Finally I realized she needed way more space than I could provide for my beautiful Kiska. I reached out to a family who lived in Carmel Valley. They had acres of land and as hard it was to give her up I knew it was the right thing for her. I took her to this family and even though it was hard I knew she would be way happier with them. 😢😂❤

@@DougFox-hm1qz maybe u shouldnt open the door wide if u know your dog has potential of running rt out. I had a dog like this & I would have to check if he was behind me when I would open it & open it slowly so he wouldn't get out. I would not want my dog escaping, let alone getting hit by a car. I would loose it if my dog went missing days if it could have been avoided.

I’m right there with you, I couldn’t care for our animals by myself, and I’m grateful to be living with family. And where I was used to working so much and my work meant a lot to me, I want more of a purpose in my life. I want to do this so bad, but I can’t even walk or stand for more than maybe 3 min. My wife and I rescued a dog from our local shelter who took to my wife immediately. She wanted this dog but when we got home it was obvious she didn’t like men. We assumed it was because she was mistreated in some way. One day when my wife was not home I went to pet the dog and he bit me, not deep but just broke the skin. I didn’t mistreat her just let her know it wasn’t right. It took about 4 or 5 months but she now comes up to me and lets me pet her and give her treats with no problem. I would like to spend about ten minutes in a locked room with the guy who did this to her. She’s not with us any longer because of cancer but the last part of her life was great, no stress and a big backyard. It actually makes me feel good to have helped this dog and love her.

I don't actually own him, I would say I'm lucky enough to live under the same roof as my best furry friend. These dogs are simply amazing. If the opportunity arises I will try to adopt another Husky/Malamute from one. So happy to see he got finally adopted. Seems Sonic is in good hands now. ;)

They are wonderful, but can be very challenging. I can’t have one, I have chickens, and only a four foot fence. They are absolute escape artists. But if I bring a pet home, except in very rare situations, it will live out its life with me. I did place a super sweet kitty about three years old with a family who could make her an only cat, the center of their world. And one stray who just showed up, I found a home for.

With our rescue boxer, it was between 3-6 hrs, that we saw the worst moments. It was definitely overwhelming. We had him trained in a month and by three months, he learned how to interact with our kids. It's been 2 years and he is the biggest cuddler and has become part of the family. You need to be able to work through bad habits and train them. You can't see the gem of a dog if you don't put in the time and effort.

I used to foster and rehabilitate chihuahuas… but due to illness had to stop…. With the tiny dog I always told adopters to use the 12 12 12 method…. They need more time for acclimation to their new home…. Little dogs can be stubborn and resent authority……. It’s ok for you to loosen the reins, because they will see you as their leader…. For knowing what they need… which is a smile, a hug and lots of kisses-all given freely with no judgement….i was never a foster fail, but being a foster strengthened me to always want to rescue…. I have a half chi, half miniature pincher right now….quesa looks like a min pin, but has a chihuahua heart and soul…. Smart as a whip, but incredibly stubborn… I focused on her good parts, and ignored her naughty side…. Took 3 years for her to decide what kind of dog she was going to be…. But I decided to love my little goofball no matter what-and I’m glad I did!!!!
@giftofthewild6665
@giftofthewild6665 7 месяцев назад
@@cheryldumas953 I don't think little dogs are stubborn or rejecting authority. I think they're just scared because they're so small and weak, and people tend to just pick them up and force things on them as its so easy to do with a small dog (no one would do that to a large dog that was obviously unhappy with it for fear of getting bitten). They become reactive and handler aggressive from the constant lack of respect of their personal space they experience. I've also seen people laughing as their chihuahua guards bones from them (while the dog is snarling with teeth out and hackles up) no one would laugh when a large dog does this, they take it seriously and start training immediately.

@@giftofthewild6665Yeah, they for some reason think the smaller the dog is the more you can treat it like a toy which is quite frankly ridiculous. Ppl kinda do that to all smaller animals and even people in general too, u can see it with children or even with ppl who have dwarfism. It's so weird how ppl think easy to pick up = automatically comfortable with it and being babied.

Great Pyrenees can be an excellent breed for specific living situations, but I caution people to do their research and not jump on the Pyrenees bandwagon just because the breed is popular right now. They're true sheepdogs, so the night-time patrolling/barking, hole digging, and massive amounts of shedding can really be too much for a lot of people. The amount of leaves and dirt alone mine brings in from outside on her fur requires quite a bit more vacuuming and sweeping each week!

Her story really touched me, and we all know breeders are doing the same thing with other dogs, but just seeing the end result of a life of breeding is something I wish more ppl would see. She also clearly loves it here, and every visit the vet says how good she looks, so I think I was right to think I would be a good dog owner again. And she is very boxer-y, nothing but jokes. I grew up with Huskys, my father had a sleddog team. My mother remembers a time when we had more than 30 dogs. They are all goofs. There was no snow for a long time, so since he couldn't race them most of them had to be sold. but one went to my grandfather, and another we kept. The one my grandfather had lived until the ripe age of 22 (very old for a husky), the one we kept made it until 16. We also had cats, pretty sure by the end since he was with them all the time he thought he too was a cat. 90 pounds trying to climb in your lap like a cat. I am so happy for Sonic, that he went to a family who will know to give him enough exercise and attention.

Sad to see a great pyr. You got to experience the pyr paw!!! I have great pyrs and you are so right. These are specific dogs that need dog parents that really know how to work with livestock guardians. Pyrs are so sensitive, my princess is so amazing, but a lot of understanding and work. Then you get the pyr paw and the incredible love that they give. Thanks for doing what you do.

Sonic is such a pretty, snuggly fluff muffin! I am glad he found someone for good. My family had a Siberian Husky called Sapphire. She was a fluff muffin too! We lost her in early March (cancer) and we are no where near ready for a new fur baby. Sonic, the fluff muffin, gave me pause (paws!) and I did start wondering if we could be ready. In the end, the pain from our loss is still too sharp. I am glad he is home now though!

I have a rescue husky named Sapphire too. She was about a year and a half when we got her and we were her 4th home. I didn't Change her name bc I thought it would be hard for her to learn a new name with all the other changes. It took her 9 or ten months before she let her guard down and u could see she knew she was going to stay this time and be loved. She's going to be 11 next year.

Yep, you can't expect a dog to adjust in a few days. We have six, all resuces. It takes time, three months is about right. Until they feel safe and can express love and feel part of the home. Six dogs, a cat, and a house sparrow. Love them all.

I have a Maine Coon cat who had been adopted and returned twice because she didn't let humans near once out of the shelter. I didn't care. I'd adopted her as a companion for my elderly male that was grieving himself to death after we lost his litter mate. She bonded with him in short order. For 3 years she wouldn't let me near her. I just let her do her thing except for vet visits. Then we lost the old male. About a week later my beautiful girl jumped up on the couch beside me. Since that day she's been the most loving cat of my 30+ years of being owned by cats. It's been SO worth the wait.

It took years, you achieved the highest honor! Thanks for sharing. As I shared your story with my husband, I couldn’t stop myself from crying in pride of your and for your courage in waiting as long as it takes! Never give up! Never give in! This is you! We adopted a red-and-white border collie (~4 years old) in 2012. Unfortunately, we very nearly returned him after a couple of weeks because among other things, he wasn't quite housebroken. Eleven years on, we are so very glad we hung in there with him. He has been the best dog anyone could have asked for - loyal, obedient, calm, goofy, sweet - we are so lucky to have found him. He gave my husband something to live for during some dark times; he has quite literally been a lifesaver. He is now in the twilight of his life; his hips are bad, he's developed mild dementia, and he doesn't see very well. But he still loves riding in the car, ice cubes, and herding the cat, so we will gladly continue to take care of our precious boy until it is time to say goodbye.

I have to say, every time I volunteer in our shelter, I adopt a dog! Only once did I have to bring one back and sadly it was a Rottweiler/lab mix. We kept her for 3 months during one summer and then my son had to return to school, and she just hadn't settled down. She was the sweetest dog and it was devastating. I checked on her every day and brought her treats and food until they did find her a new home. ♥♥ Your channel is so heartwarming and we need this so much right now!

I have to say. I love your videos. I know a respected dog rescue one time mentioned that sitting with your back to an animal was not the best way to do it. I did not see you respond to his comment, but noticed immediately you started sitting beside the dog. You still use your technique of not looking some of them directly in the eye to begin with, but you have been sitting beside the pups. I love this. I love in life that we can adapt and change and make things safer for all. When someone gets the attitude of knowing it all and refusing to adapt, sometimes unnecessary events happen. Thank you for all you do, and always learning and growing.

My Maremma does the paw thing, too... she sleeps on my bed with me. Three dogs and two cats share my bed every night, cuddling up during cold winter nights or spreading out during summer. She was a rescue from a breeder, too, and had spent most of her life of just one year in a cage, and it took a while for her to relax and not be scared going through doors or closed spaces. My dogs and cats are loved and cared for and will always be with me!
