The Sonicware Liven XFM is a synthesizer/groovebox but when you dedicate all its 4 tracks to drum sounds it also makes a great cheap budget drum machine with tons of sound shaping possibilities. Big potential to add unique FM synthesized percussion to your set ups.

The synth engines already make this machine worth the price, but then having an FM drum machine on top of it all is just amazing.

It really excels at drums and bass in my opinion. But melodic/chordal content is also very useful!

how much modulation/p-locks are available per step? if you happen to know. this seems like a cool synth.

Every parameter can be locked per step besides FX!

Does it respond to velocity over midi?

Yes! You can also edit the velocity per step

How'd you get the stutters? Around 0:45 - 0:48 ish?

If you have stutter 'on' all you have to do is hold down the step you want to stutter. I'm changing the tone of the sound while I stutter it as well.
