From what I read from comments, Original is in D minor and the Shoko is in G minor. Since G and D are a 5 notes apart (a fifth) it makes it harmonically pleasing to hear. And according to physics, 5ths sync up very nicely with their vibrations, so it sounds good according to science too :)

There's an occasional moment where it syncs up nice, like at the end of the first line, which makes it more pleasant than ever

They are in different keys, the original being in Gm and Shoko’s being in Dm. It just works because as long as they are a fifth apart, it will alway harmonize.

Witch Döctor To make a melody sound harmonious, the amount of semitones between the notes in the melody has to change. In the key of C, the notes C and E are 4 semitones apart, but the subsequent notes in the scale, D and F, are 3 semitones apart. Then E and G have 4 semitones again. This type of alteration between 4 and 3 semitones is what makes the melody harmonious. It sounds good because it changes the amount of semitones between the notes. So while G is the 5th of D, all that means is that every note on the G scale is always going to be 5 semitones away from its corresponding note on the D scale. D and G are 5 semitones apart, E and A are 5 semitones, F and Bb are 5 semitones, G and C are 5 semitones, A and D are 5 semitones, Bb and Eb are 5, and so on. It creates a feeling of monotony and uneasiness in the mind of the listener, because it doesn't feel right to have notes always be the same distance from each other. Following this logic, if the songs are arranged the same way, then the notes Shoko sings are always going to be 5 semitones away from what Tommy sings, no matter what, and that just doesn't sound good.
