Credit where it's due, Sonos have nailed it with this, it's so well thought out. Those features put it in a league of its own. I didn't realise you could use it to share from an existing bluetooth speaker either. Looking forward to getting my hands on one!
Wow. This was an extremely well done review! Truly. What I've always wished reviewers would do with audio products is tell us in decibels how loud it gets, and (in decibels) how loud it is when you start to hear distortion. That would give us an objective way to compare speakers in that sense. At any rate, thank you for caring enough about what you do to do such a good job of it. Your humor, your outline, your edits, your everything was just really well done. Thumbs up and subscribed. PS: at 5:16 you say the word "horizontal" when I think you meant to say "vertical". 🙂
I was an early adopter of Sonos products. My brother-in-law got me into them and I've had a collection of a couple of play-3s and 2 play-5s since Sonos was a new company. When we bought a new home 5 years back, I added two Sonos-amps and some outdoor speakers to our front and back porches. A year or so ago I was thinking "Wow. I wonder why Sonos doesn't make a portable solution?" so I went to the website and found this little guy! Then I thought "You know what would be cool? A wireless charging pad, so I can easily pick up the speaker and roam the property without having to mess with cables or worrying that it's charged" Duh... they make that too! Nice work, Sonos. One of these beauties (plus the charging pad) is on the way to me right now. We get amazing sound from our other Sonos devices. I'm looking forward to adding this little guy to the mix.
I see a lot of reviewers keep leaving the below info out.. 1) When you are on Bluetooth and AWAY from WIFI, YOU CANNOT USE THE SONOS APP. So that means you won't be getting access to your Sonos Playlist and if you LOVE the crossfade feature and the SONOS RADIO etc, sorry, no LUCK THERE. SUCKS! 2) Also, You can't use the WIFI option in HOTELS/CAFEs etc where they require you to ACCEPT TERMS AND CONDITIONS before accessing the internet in those places. . Aside that, IM LOVING THE SONOS ROAM. i got the one in LUNAR WHITE to use in my cubicle in the OFFICE... HOME SONOS QUALITY sound in the office... Cant BEAT that!! Thanks for the video tho.. you can update it to include this if you want :)
I'm a huge fan of Sonos and have loads if them around my house, including the sub woofer. I wanted to like this speaker, but having given it a good listen today, sound quality-wise, I was very disappointed. I have £30 similar sized speakers that sound better. Very disappointed with the sound quality. Seems to be the general consensus, sadly. Overpriced. Won't rush out to buy. :(
Question , so you continue to use Deezer through the sonos app while your on the go ? Same as at home ? You can therefore create a separate room so it’s only music on the roam . ?
Good review. Currently deciding between the Roam and the Move for outdoor use, prefer the portability of the Roam but several reviews saying the bass is poor and it’s nowhere near as good as a Sonos One so need to hear one in person really first.
It is awesome. It bass is good, but it'll never as good a speaker with a bigger chassis & a bigger driver. If you want that deep bass the Move will deliver.
I have sonos beam, sub and lamp in bedroom. Still undecided on what speaker to go out with. The sonos radio HD sound makes Spotify sound average. But not sure if you can use the app when outside with a roam? It's a Roam or the sounlink flex,maybe something else?
Best review of the Roam I have seen so far. I have ordered it as a bedroom/ outdoor speaker but one thing you mentioned interested me the most and I apologise if it has been answered here. At 13:20 you mention casting a bluetooth device that is incompatible with Sonos to the Roam and then (in my case) sending it to my Beam + 2 One's paired in surround. I have been considering buying a bluetooth turntable for some old vinyl but was struggling to find how to connect it to my Sonos eco-system. Could the Roam be the conduit that would link the bluetooth turntable to my Sonos speakers without the need to buy another Sonos product and feed wires into walls? Thanks again for a great review
Hi I have this Roam and it’s amazing, it’s waterproof and is compatible with both Alexa and Google Assistant, it works great with Alexa but I have a few issues: Music is cutting out when using Apple Music through Alexa so often and with Airplay is very unstable, How can I fix it? My Wifi signal is good but my home walls are made of concrete and Sonos Support says it’s wireless interference, but all other devices are working fine in my network. Is it a firmware issue? How can I clear the interference? Anyways, great speaker

Thanks for the great review! You mention the Roam can use a charger block with up to 15W, but the optional block sold by Sonos is only 10W. I wasn’t able to find any info about it supporting up to 15W. If so, could I use my 12W iPad charger? Thanks in advance!

I hate mine ! Had it two weeks and im returning it today . The sound is great but its so glitchy , the power button sticks , causing it to switch on and burn the battery to zero . The sonos 2 app is appalling too
As a plumber I do a lot of building site work and the radio gets carried around room to room or if an empty shell gets put central oh the house. Do you think this would be loud and durable enough to withstand the odd knock?
Heard (pun) it’s a pos The app kills it. S2 supposed to kill all your connections. Sound is supposed to be great, the required app is shit. Read the reviews. Got an Anker 25 buck speaker instead. Sonos sucks
