Did anyone get the vibe that Mike doesn't like or has a problem with James Lebrie and his style of vocals? He used The Canadian and referenced that he didn't want the high operatic style vocals.

Since Mike left DT I always thought the main reason of his departure (aside of being burnt out) was a beef with James LaBrie, which I find to be kind of an asshole as well. Also, in an interview Mike said that he invited "the members of the band he is still friendly with" for his birthday bash on cruise to the edge which emphasizes what i said

When does he say "The Canadian"? I heard the bit about operatic vocals, but if he thought that's how LaBrie sounded, why would LaBrie have become DT's vocalist in the first place?

opps. I watched a few vids with him and the Canadian reference may have been from another vid. It just seems from this and other interviews with him that he always references DT by the guy's names except LeBrie. He may have evolved since DT and doesn't want his new projects to be like his old ones. Most of his vocalists now are nothing like LeBrie.

I think the problem is that, live, James won’t just sing the songs. LaBrie always has to go over the top and fucks up the vibe.

Thomas Martini Its quite clear that James might have been a reason for not accepting Portnoy back in DT.. And that is quite a obvious reason for a grudge Working out hard for 20 years to make a band stand recognizable in the international arena and getting kicked out and non-acceptable because of someone who was never the core(other core members- Petrucci and Myung) hurts

Why the SoA blast just before 15min while he's still talking? Were you guys covering information that shouldn't be heard by the public? (If so, that's 100% fine...it just seems really abrupt & abrasive)

i honestly want to ask is this true? I mean these ppl really work this much, like hes talking about in the vid? I thought after leaving DT, apart from touring, he works 1-2 days a week tops, and then be with family, friends, doodling around, writing some music with no pressure, and living from his (well deserved) royalties... kinda hard to believe for me that hes got so little time...
