@@eccoakadicco hell yeah!! this version of Freedom Run from the Wretch era is still my favourite compared to the one that ended up on Blues For The Red Sun... it’s fucking heavy and I love it. Kyuss in their late 80s era is the absolute best thing ever
@@seacaching So many records/bands were like that. I had the CD radio-promo version of Greta's demo, right before No Biting came out. The original demo of "Rocking Chair" was far superior to the album version that appeared on their second and final, This Is Greta!
I remember the first time I listened to Welcome to Sky Valley back when I was in high school and being absolutely BLOWN AWAY by it. I then told my old drummer friend Jaxon Kearley who I was in history class with who still likes the same music I do, including Kyuss and I recommended Welcome to Sky Valley for him to listen to... After we'd both listened to the album, him and I discovered Blues for the Red Sun and this demo tape - him and I have been HUGE Kyuss fans ever since (I used to also turn him on to ALL KINDS of different music - I'd spend hours writing down album and concert recommendations for him). This is back when I was a junior in high school. Him and I were trying to start a band because Jaxon was (still is, actually) a drummer. I'm a multi-instrumentalist; I play guitar, bass, didgeridoo, keyboard, and percussion - I'm not too bad of a singer either. 🤘🔥Most unfortunately, Jaxon and I haven't really talked since we graduated high school... 😕 Three moons, I miss Jaxon... 🌙🌙🌙😢 😔 ❤️ I'll ALWAYS be friends with Kyuss tho! 🤘🔥🏜
I had never heard this song before but I immediately got vibes of One Outnumbered by Prong. One of my favorite songs by them, and it was recorded 3 years after this came out. Who knows if Prong was listening to Kyuss demos at the time lol, but it's a remarkably similar riff. Both great songs!
I keep coming back just to hear this cut of freedom run. Desert/stoner demos never fail to be amazing. Thank you for the upload, and im sure I'll be back to listen for the 10000th time soon... hell yess
IT SURE BRINGS BACK ALOT OF GOOD OLD MEMORIES WHEN I USED TO ALWAYS WHATCH THEM PLAY IN HOLLYWOOD (DRAGONFLY)UNTILL TODAY IT"S STILL MY FAVORITE ROCK BAND. THANK YOU KYUSS
You know I think this cassette is playing back at a higher pitch and a little faster than what was recorded. Sounds like it's maybe C# instead of C. Still awesome!
It's supposed to be in C#; they down-tuned most of the "final versions" of the songs to C on the Wretch album. The demos are tuned higher to few cents above C or maybe C#. 🤘🔥🐲💯🎸
Well they're probably the second-most popular band in the genre (after they became known as Kyuss that is), coming only after QOTSA... which is basically the "spiritual successor" to Kyuss.
