You make alot of compelling arguments for me to replace my Panasonic G85 for an A6100. But I'm currently using my friend's A6500 and the way Sony handles the highlights is crazy. I feel like I have to underexpose my video by like 3 stops just to not blow out my white shirt.
A6500 is the older color science. I’m not sure if it’s better in this generation. But I hear you Sony has never been the best at highlight recovery unless you shoot hlg.

I just want the a6100 so bad, I've chose Sony as my entry to the camera world. Fuji toooo expensive in India, no upgrade to FF in the future. Even Sony A6100 costs 907usd in India.
Dont know why fuji and sony cameras are too expensive than others country in India. Why? . I want to get a6100 but price is too high here .now I'm go with fuji xt200🙄
I had researched both the A6100 and A6400 and opted for the A6100. Between the two, I know B&H has a special body-only $150 difference. K&M is $300. Depending on where you order from from, date and specials, the difference is closer to $250-400 less for a 6100 for a turn-key package. On both models the lens and camera coupling are susceptable to weather. Yea on the S-Log. Some have commented that there's a lot you can do in post with Davinci Resolve. Yea on Magnesium feeling more solid than plastics. I had done some 200g vibration/drop tests on aircraft electronics and I agree with this comment: "Plastics generally do better when they strike a hard surface because the shell can flex slowing down the impact jarring the interior components less than a metal rigid body would. A metal body falling against concrete would be a hard shock to everything inside." Regarding features, going from a 6000 to a 6100/6400 is more significant wouldn't you say ? Having the Flip Up Screen, 4K video & Mic Input are significant. I'd like to see the price of the IBIS feature on the elite models come down as they are over-priced since the video still looks bumpy on the 6500/6600 Perhaps when the 6700 is introduced ?. As you see in many comments on lenses, price should be a factor in comparing the degree in which model 2 is better than model 1.
I think its pretty close in terms of using luts. . . . Put we will definitely lose some DR Like 1.5 stops or soo. . . A6100 at $448 is a terrific value
Bought the Canon M50 mark II a few months back and sold it shortly after, and bought the a6100..I hated the soft video quality of the M50 so much so that nowadays i kinda able to tell which video is taken with a Canon budget friendly cameras. The Canon 1080p is like 720p or even less in comparison to other 1080p videos...Enough of the "skin tone" obsession, people can look at themselves all day long, for all i care....
I left Sony A and E mount several years ago. I regret it now at times. But alas I could always just buy up their camera bodies and lenses again. Especially knowing how useful they are for a VLOG in 4K.
Hey Lee! Amazing content and excellent audio/video! Could you please tell me, which has better autofocus system between the Cannon M50 and A6100 ? I want the camera primarily for the video to be taken at 1080p and mostly shooting automobiles. I will also need external mic and in case sony A6100, it seems to be cumbersome with that tilt display. I just bought one, too. I spent 712€ on the body and 210€ on a Sigma 30mm F/1.4. I'll use this camera for my RU-vid channels, but also for taking pictures: portraits, street photography and architecture. I'm finding the autofocus quite reliable, and you said that it's made out of plastic, but with the Sigma lens it feels substantial in the hand. My former camera is a Nikon D3300, so I confront the a6100 to that DSLR.
@@prasadamit1765 It should have no record time limit, and it's never overheated on me (although, to be fair, I've never recorded for vey long, as I usually record 4K24). FHD image is not great, but it's still very usable. And I don't know if other competitors do better... probably Panasonic and Fuji? I'd still prefer to record 4K, and instantly downscale to 1080 if needed when importing the file on the computer. That said, FHD is the only way to get higher frame rates than 30

Guys, I got ax100 and it seems not strong AF (blurring, very slow) I don't know if any of a6100 or a6600 or Zv1 could match or give better image quality than ax100 because the lens in AX100 is very good. I understand the sensors difference from 1 inch sensor all the way to Aps-c but still the lens in ax100 is very good (if anyone knows how much the lens cost of ax100? In equivalent to sony lens?) Both Zv1 and ax100 is one inch sensor both same sensor but I don't know if zv1 lens could beat or same ax100 lens? Do you think that a6600 or a6100 can beat the ax100 or zv1 with their own lens come with the body (in term of video quality)?
Solid video, I was just on best buy debating if I should make the purchase. For the price it's a steal, I'm going to buy one and just color grade in post just to get my film making started. This will have to do the trick until I can get my hands on a 6400 or 6500
The problem with the A6400 over the A6100 is that for only a little more than the A6400 you can get the A6600 with the bigger battery and IBIS. So I think really the best idea is to ignore the middle ground and go A6100 or A6600.
The A6400 is designed to last for 200,000 shutter releases and the A6100 half that at around 100,000 from info from a number of different sources on the net.
@@LeeZavitz thank you for reply. But I'll do street interviews and also youtube videos. But won't need 4k. But I heard there is limited lenses for canon m50 also good battery life. But some said sony's menu is little complicated. But I think I'll get used to it.
The Sony a6100 is 820$ in India. Whereas the a6400 is 1050$. So I'm able to save up 230$ if I pick up the a6100 instead of the Sony a6400... and the only compromise is the build quality, and the picture profiles! heck yeah! I can add some money to that remaining 230$, and pick up an extra GoPro for some fpv!

Pretty much, I currently own one and it's easy like that. HOWEVER, if you're in the middle of a long shot you will need extra batteries and the dummy battery charger anyway 😉
Im deciding between a6400 with kit lens 16-55 and 6100 16-55 + 55-210 they are same price .... Im new into photography but i used canon 80d. I wil shoot mainly street photography some portraits and car photography ... And later on plan on buying 50mm 1.8
My go to for real estate video. This and the sigma 16. Both under 1k combined. Anything more is overkill for something only being viewed on vimeo. Makes a great B camera for weddings. Don't look or feel stupid with 2 A7riv's strapped to my hips. Everyone gets gear crazy when gems like this exist.

Most who use the sigma 16 1.4 on Sony APS-C for streaming just run the video straight out of HDMI. I don’t think OBS has a plug in to correct video inputs and if there was it might create significant delay and high CPU usage.
Thank you. I’m looking for the best mirrorless or DSLR for around $1200 or less (body only) to record my nieces. One is a gymnast and the other does local community theater. I will be purchasing a 70-200mm f2.8 lens for whatever body I choose as well. I’m looking for eye autofocus that functions in 4k. Some have suggested Sony a6600 (I’m a little concerned about the rolling shutter) others have suggested Canon M6 Mark ii (some have said eye autofocus doesn’t work in 4k) Any help from other viewers would also be appreciated.

Hi, i got a Sony A6100, the issue i have is that ik can not set the 4k on. Also i have a atem mini. Therefore i need the 60hz setting and i have the 50hz setting. How can i change that? Please advice ;-)
