Hello mate. Well I was originally not going to compare against the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0..but they are my personal headphones, so I thought it would be interesting to see if these newer competitors are better. What we found out in the review is that the Momentum 2.0 was as good in all areas I tested, and in some areas they were alot better. So one would expect that the Momentum 3.0 would be even better still! Overall my preference would be either for the Momentums or the Bose (the Momentum if you care about sound quality primarily, but the Bose if you care about up-to-date features). Also take into account I had to buy EACH ONE OF THESE headphones with my own money (small channel so manufacturers don't send me stuff to review!). So I took a BIG RISK with this review! I would have loved to buy some Momentum 3.0 but...the money mate!!! Thanks for the like - I appreciate that!
Really appreciate your A/B listening tests with these popular models. I had the Beats and I also liked them, but returned them because the ear cups came loose in 10 days. I like the XM4s for their bass - I may be picking up the Yamahas next! XD
Enjoyed the comparison. I can only acknowledge your findings on the Sennheiser momentum. Years back my wife found them a clear winner, only based on the Ivory white and retro look, lol. But I have to say, they sound quite OK. I'm a bit sensitive re. 'pressure' that some cans with noise cancelling (can) have, so noise cancelling is not my favorite. Perhaps we give the Momentum 3 a go. For me, I just can't part from my trusty old Sennheiser HD 25. At first they clamped like crap, but with frequent use you won't notice it's there. Actually they shield well against outside noise (for on-ears) and they can take a punch or two.
I've got a pair of Momentum 3's still in the box. Haven't even listened to them and they're in ivory colour. Running this channel can make a man go bonkers - I've had them about 3 months and I still haven't touched them! All I can say is the Momentums were the clear winner in this test I think - they were the only set of headphones that I could say 'sounded like headphones'. The other were just a really odd flavour overall - Beats Studio3 weren't too bad but they lacked any definition whatsoever. Also not a fan of ANC heapdhones - but on the plane they are invaluable! HD25 hehe - one of the first sets of headphones I used when learning music tech - good memories on those hehe
That was the most British reaction ever at 13:12! Couldn't stop laughing! I have an old pair of Sennheiser Momentum on-ear and I never could wear them for long cause of the metal arch making it really tight around my head. I am going to look up the Sony though!
Haha well they were soooo bassy! I don't know what on earth Yamaha were thinking when they calibrated that headphone. The momentum 3.0 are out now, and the headband seems to be a bit 'plusher' shall we say. Maybe worth a try as I really do feel the Momentum 2.0 were probably the best in this test. The Sonys are ok and alot of people seem to like those so they'll also hold their value quite well I think. They weren't to my taste sound-wise, and I think perhaps the call quality could have been improved. The noise cancellation definitely is the most aggressive of the bunch though. The Bose actually scored quite highly, but I dunno...there was something fake sounding about those headphones and it just seemed strange! Another pair of ANC headphones I've come across is by DALI but unfortunately I haven't reviewed those. Best of luck and if you need me just give me a shout!
Hi! 👋 Which wann is the clearest sounding quality? (I know you said Yamaha has more bass) but i wanna know how good is the sound if we see pure quality? Compared Sennheiser vs Yamaha. Thank you 👍
@@propercushty oh by the way, i want to buy this week, new headphone for the gym and films at home. I want to buy the b&w px7 but i’m wondering if the apple airpods max are better (in sound quality)… have you tested or listened to them?
Hii. Which one you can advise for metal and rock music? I`ve bought momentum 3 but still wonder how about Sony 1000XM4 and Bose quietcomfort 45.. Thank you
HI Murat. It's hard to say which will be better for metal music as it comes down to your personal taste. Watch my most recent video of the Sennheiser Momentum 3 vs the Bose 700 (similar to quietcomfort 45) - this should help you finalise your choice.
Well I will leave that up to you guys decide that! Because I guess it's horses for courses isn't it lol. E.g. if noise cancellation is very important to you, then the Sony does that best. However...if you want my opinion on what I would keep...I'd have to say the Sennheiser Momentum is the overall winner with the Bose a close second. I think it offers the overall best sound quality, the Bose has better microphone quality in calls, but the Sennheiser has better call quality on my end. The Bose has better ANC than Sennheiser, but it's quite close. I prefer the Sennheiser's case. The comfort is also great on the Sennheisers..but the Bose is pretty special too. You also have to consider that the Sennehiser Momentum 2 is quite a bit cheaper as it's now discontinued. Also, you have to consider the new Sennheiser Momentum 3.0 is out..and I am assuming that is better than the Momentum 2.0 in all areas. But I personally wouldn't touch the Sony, Yamaha, B&W or Beats. The Yamaha was a bit unfortunate - I think it could be a great set of cans but it just has some teething issues as it's new product. Perhaps the next iteration will be alot better
My worry about buying the Yamaha is that I think they won’t fit. I have a huge head and those yamahas look like they barely have enough extension for you
answered your question already - but I would go with the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless 3 these days. My favourite up to about £300 and has all the features you want
let me suggest, now that you have a good collection of well known brands now compare them with good chinese brands, I think you will be surprised, sound quality wise atleast. btw you have one brand missing B&O.
haha yeah couldn't get all the brands mate. I had no money left! I'm sure there were some other brands I also missed :D Could you name me some good Chinese brands you think would offer up good competition to these headphones?
