that1cameraguy hello, in 18.50 - 19.00 there is a zoom function, i did all step according to you but why that function doesnt work? My cam is a6000 with lens kit. Sorry for my bad English. Im from indonesia
that1cameraguy when I changed the file format to xavc s, it says memory card does not support recording of xavc s. My microSD card is a 32GB san disk extreme pro up to 100MB/s read speed and up to 90MB/s write speed, supports 4K UHD and full HD video recording and playback. What’s wrong?
Thanks a ton. I have been using this camera for three years, but never really knew what all the custom settings were used for. I read the manual when I first got it, however I learned so much from your video. You talk a little fast for us old folks, I just had to scroll back and replay it over again. I look forward to checking out some of your other videos.
mbiraside I would appreciate if you would check out the videos on my channel they're filmed with the Sony a6000 and the kit lens. Thank you in advance.
mike leonardo I would appreciate if you would check out the videos on my channel they're filmed with the Sony a6000 and the kit lens. Thank you in advance.
Your videos are awesome. You have a high school teacher vibe and I love it. I bet you’re really patient and a good teacher, just based on this video. Keep it up man.
@@SteveStevescu007 a 50mm f1.8 OSS lens is nice for portraits. If I were to choose one for portraits, though, it would be somewhere between that 50mm and the 85mm f1.8. Or if you like a general purpose lens, I would suggest either the Zeiss 16-70mm f4 OSS or the Sony G 18-105mm f4 OSS. Those would be good enough for portrait photography.
Super helpful video. I am in Africa on vacation and realized I was vastly unprepared when it came to understanding my settings and functions. Thank you for the quick and easy to follow tutorial.
Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm and knowledge as I now can venture with the confidence that I need. I'm a canon shooter, too but wanted to lessen my load and delve into the world of mirrorless. So glad that I found you.
I bought my sony 6000 and I used it without knowing how to operate it. I happened to see your video it helps me a lot. Only you're so fast for me. Thank you it helps me a lot
In 2023, I'm still shooting with my A6000. The 50mm and the Sigma 30mm is super sharp! I actually need to reset my settings over again with yours! Thanks bro! Continued success!!
Just got my Sony A6000 and have been searching and watching several videos on Utube touching on this camera. Yours is the most informative and helpful. Really appreciate your time and effort...thanks very much....two thumbs up...cheers !
I'm 50yrs old and have a daughter that is graduating high school in a week and a son on his second enlistment. I purchased this Sony a6000 to be my go to camera for a very long time. I'm tired of iPhone and Android phones. I want to thank you for these settings. I took my daughters photo's Saturday for Prom on the green mode dial. I know nothing about the 1/250, the F5.6, and ISO. I am trying to figure it out. I want to take really awesome pictures of the moon at night and so many other things. If you have video's tell me and I will watch them. You definitely have a lot. Thank you very much for the instructions. Semper Fi
Thank you for this. I got an a6000 last year but haven't had the time to really learn it. I decided to finally get into it and yours is the first video that is detailed enough but you don't ramble on.
Hi im from Malaysia, i just got my A6000 this evening and now charging my first 8 hours before i can start using it tomorrow..bought it cause of your reviews..keep up the good work =)
Oh my God. I am in Turkey and thanks to your wonderful explanation, I have adjusted my camera settings. English is not my native language. Although you speak very fast, it is fun and understandable. Thank you very much for this wonderful video you prepared with such beautiful explanations. I will stay tuned.
Love that this is a free lesson, I refer to it often to help remember navigation. I would purchase photography classes if available specially if the camera used was the a6000 and speedlite added. I will make my purchases through your links when applicable. Searching all you a6000 videos. Thanks again
I watch this video about 2 weeks ago and I got lost. I'm not only new to the a6000 but also to photography. I did some studying and came back to this video today and a lot of it make sense now. Thanks for sharing and assisting in my education.
+René Van Wyk awesome thanks for sharing this. I'm planning to release a video in a day or two that goes over the a6000 and manual exposure controls to take full control of your camera.
Absolutely brilliant - I just bought the camera and followed you all the way through, changing the settings as appropriate. I am just into video but I took the photo advice on board just in case!
Your video is aging well :) Just purchased a Sony a6000 (yeah, they're still selling those in 2020) and this was one of the first videos I came to. It was extremely helpful - loved your video format. Thanks so much!
This is like the most USEFUL video i have ever watched! I am a complete beginner with video making and cameras but really want to start learning and i have this camera... thank you SO MUCH! so grateful i found this video!
Been a long time user on Canon, but got an A6000 for video and as a back up. This video is brilliant. There were a couple of things I wasn't sure about, but it's all explained. Thank you!!!
Great video it helped me a lot. I just purchased Sony a6000, I jumped to it from a very simple camera that didn't had soo many settings. Thanks a lot :)
Holy moly. There's a lot of features on this thing.........well done video. I will be watching it twice (or more).... You are the "Gold Star" winner for the day.
Excellent tutorial cameraguy , I’ve taken up photography since I retired early due to ill health at 45 and I bought the Sony A6000 it’s an excellent camera but you’re RU-vid videos are excellent mate. Greetings from Liverpool England, Mark
Love the video! Recently bought one of these and didn’t know what I was doing at all. This video helped me understand a lot more about the capability and options of my camera.
Thanks. Way too much for a guy who just unboxed 3 hours ago. Thanks to my Olympus EM5-2 I'm familiar with deep menus. But this gave a feel for what I'll be doing and your recommendations made sense.
A lot of these I already knew but there were quite a few I didn't. Thanks, it was very helpful. My old IT leader's motto was RTFM but I'd rather watch video any day.
I believe you can digitally zoom up to 2X before losing any quality, that's what the "ClearImage" zoom setting is for (Camera menu: 2nd tab page 3). If set to ClearImage the A6000 will not let you digitally zoom past 2X...In order to achieve 2.1X-4X digital zoom you must set it to "ON Digital Zoom". This way you can use your optic zoom and then magnify your optics up to 400% more with the digital zoom as well. But anything over 2X will degrade the quality of the picture/film. Hope this helps! Great quick overview btw!!!
I actually found this video really helpful. A lot of other tutorials I saw only explained PICTURES not VIDEOS so I got what I needed, thanks! BTW you're hilarious. lol
Thanks @that1cameraguy for your videos. I just got myself a new a6000 and I'm new to camera, totally 0 idea where to start with. Your videos help alot! (subscribed!)
I've had my camera for over 4 months and this has been the BEST video I've seen so far!!!! I wish I would of found this sooner. Amazing job! I bought my camera with a kit lens so now I'm looking for a better lens to shoot videos and portraits. Any affordable suggestions ?
The 50mm f1.8 is good for portraits on the cheap geni.us/8OTf. For shooting video, the 18-105 is a good versatile lens, but it depends on what types of videos you're doing geni.us/enwOU
Thank you very much for all the videos on the Sony A6000 and A6300 cameras. I purchased the A6000 and tried it out for two weeks until I ultimately decided that it was worth it to spend the extra $350 to upgrade to the A6300. During my A6000 trial time I watched a lot of tutorial videos (including yours) which really helped me fast track through the setup process, compare the A600 and A6300, and find the gear I should purchase. Ultimately, I decided on the A6300 because of the 4k video, enhanced phase defection AF points, mic port, magnesium body, and the weather sealing. I felt all those upgrades was really worth the extra $350. However, I did notice that it seems there is more heat across the body of the A6300 than the A6000. As I left my A6300 on for a 30 minute setup process, the body became much warmer than the A6000 during the same process. I'm not sure if the A6300 gets hotter than the A6000 or if the new magnesium body is dissipating the heat to keep the internals cooler. If anyone has an answer to the A6300 body heat, I would appreciate it.
I found an answer to the body heat issue. The camera does warm up because it is made of the magnesium alloy and dissipates heat so it will feel warmer than the A6000. I'm assuming this also helps when shooting video. High Thermal Conductivity - Magnesium disperses heat quickly, making it ideal for electronic enclosures, heat sinks and other items where heat must be dissipated from electronic devices. Magnesium is 33% lighter than aluminum, 60% lighter than titanium, and 75% lighter than steel. It is also 100 times better than plastic for heat dissipation.
I was tired of trying to understand and control my a6000, and just about to sell it when I saw your video. There were weird settings I did not know how to cancel and shooting modes I knew existed but did not know how to implement. The manual is confusing, your video is the contrary. I decided to pospone the sale, and start using and relying on it. Thanks for sharing!
Just found your channel...really enjoy it. Would love to see a video specifically for setting up the camera for filming YT videos. Just bought the a6000 (always used a point and shoot before) and would love a dedicated video for in home filming and vlogging out and about in the world...beginner. So far I'm overwhelmed. Thank you!
I just want to say thank you for this video I been having a hard time with figuring out my camera. I loved that you went step by step I was able to fallow along with my camera, it did get a little fast had a go back a few times but I got. Hopefully now I can take better photos for when I go on vacation =)
Before I get so involved with more of your videos, I just want let you know you are one of the best on line teachers that I have watched. I really appreciate the method that you teach in. I'm trying to use my a 6000 , with the Sony 10 - 18 lens shooting real estate. Including phantom 4 pro and Osmo both using my Samsung 7edge (when the real estate application called Zillow I'm required to use a cell phone in order to interact with their program, otherwise I use the regular head that came with the Osmo. I know shoot all my real estate in HDR raw. The folks that we have processing for it makes it look very realistic and not cartoonish. Also it helps with being able to shoot more real estate a day versus using a three flash method to use before. After this long message I wanted to explain to you my set up, I need to find a way to be able to reproduce my shooting both inside and out without having to spend so much timetrying to focus refocus and finding out that it's not focusing right and it is definitely hurting my business as well as potentially working with the team I work with. Are use a back button focus replaced in the AEL and I am all over the board with what I use to focus and shoot HDR. I also use a hand remote so that way it prevents shaking. If you'd like I can send you some examples of the properties that I have shot. My method of shooting is to be able to see clearly out the window as well as be able to see clearly inside. I'd like to get any suggestions you have on Settings so I can reproduce every time I focus and not spend so much time on trying to figure out the settings I need to consistently and her Peterle focus and I have all the The picture focused. Every time I shoot both inside and outside I white balance inside and outside I have it set at 100 ISO and I try to keep it FAA and then sometimes I mess around in a preset at 10 which I really don't know why am doing that but I'm just doing it hoping that I will be able to get more of the image clearer by increasing the depth of field. Again I really appreciate anything you can comment on this or if it would help my email address is John@wideiphoto.com if you and my sharing yours if you want to get privately that we could speak to you directly and not leave these long messages unless you think this will help others. Cheers! John
Ummm this video was very helpful . I am very new to DSLR cameras and I purchased the sony A6000 over a year ago and I haven't used it to its full capacity because I don't know what I'm doing. So every time I try I get overwhelmed and put it right back in the box. I was wondering if you could make a video on how to actually vlogg with the sony A6000. I don't know how I should do my manual settings in movie mode.
