3 years later , I have an a6400 and for some reason my lcd went black and I was going to send it in to repair and I found this video....Thank you so much , you have a new fan and subscriber....keep up the good work.
thank you, exactly what I needed. Mine was on Auto and I'm getting into self-recording with a tripod and flat surfaces, was losing my mind every time I placed it on a flat surface it would go to viewfinder until I moved it and it would turn back to monitor. now it's on fulltime monitor and my brain isn't caving in on itself. again thank you
we might have bricked the A6000... We had some problems getting the viewfinder of the camera to work, which simply remained black as you would put your eye over it. Thinking it was just a bug in the sensor, we set the camera to "viewfinder only" mode, forcing it into viewfinder mode and which turned off the back lcd screen. However, the viewfinder still didn't work and now the screen won't turn on as well, since it's in viewfinder mode. This means we now can not enter the menu to turn off this function. The camera is still responsive and does still take pictures blindly. We tried switching on/off, random button pushing, trying to access the menu blindly (seeing a youtube video accessing that particular part of the menu) and trying to update the firmware/connecting through a laptop. That last bit also doesn't work, computer can't connect, as it probably needs to be set to USB mass storage mode in the camera menu which we can't access. Any suggestion?
I had a microphone on top of my camera and it was glitching in between. This video helped me realize it was throwing the auto settings off and I just switched it to manual. Thanks for the help!

My A7iii is always set to AUTO but for some reason it’s showing a blank screen. If I switch the Monitor to Only then I can see the screen. This is weird!!!!!
In case anyone can’t see either viewfinder or monitor, you can connect an HDMI cable to the camera and plug it into a computer monitor to see the menu. If you don’t see anything on the monitor, your camera has serious issues.
@@mochimitsu7 I have the a6400 too! And I still haven’t figured it out. I’ve set it to the side for now. I found an a6500 at the pawn shop in the meantime for a good deal. I haven’t even played with it yet because I really want my a6400 to work. I guess the a6500 will make a decent backup camera
Hi! My Sony A6400 is having this weird problem where the monitor won't turn on when viewing the image. The monitor is still working as I can still replay footages I shot earlier, but it just can't turn on when I am trying to shoot videos or photos so I would have to look through the viewfinder which is very not efficient. Hello sir, last 2 weeks ago my screen as well as the view finder had no display. I had it repaired and got it today. My bad is I did not checked the viewfinder. I just only focused on the LCD. When I saw your video I followed the steps you did but the "AUTO" did not worked for me. The other 2 options (viewfinder and monitor)were working. When I chose the viewfinder, there is a display and not in the monitor. So to make this short, the "AUTO" was not working. Do you have anymore advice? btw, my unit is Sony HX99. thank you so much!
O wow. Now I feel stupid. I think if you have your viewfinder turned off then plug in an external monitor it will auto switch the setting to viewfinder only. Then when you unplug the external monitor only your viewfinder will be on and I thought my lcd was broke 🤣🤣

Hi I did exactly as you say. And still no diaplay on my lcs monitor, the bad thing is neither the viewfinder display anything since I switched to monitor 😢. Please help
I have set it now on montor because it use it on a steadycam. but after maybe 20 seconds or so the screen goes black. I have to push the menu button (2x) to turn the screen back on to normal view. When recording this doesn't happen. Do you know the solution for this?
Yea, both were black. I had to connect it to a monitor to change it back to Auto and still only the viewfinder works. The bigger problem is now it also wont take pictures, it says "Camera error. Turn power off then on"

Both my monitor and viewfinder did not work as well. I had it repaired then only the monitor had display. Auto mode did not worked But when I chose the viewfinder it had display already but not in monitor. What did you do to make your camera work now? Thank you for answering.
