I just pre-order the sony A6400. For all the flaw, there are work arounds. they fixed the major issue : the over heating, the recording limit, and improved the auto tracking. I'm sold.
EthanInGoa if you are telling a great story nobody is going to give a damn fuck about your rolling shutter. You think your mom or uncle would say: great video but the rolling shutter completely ruined it. Idk what you want to do with your camera but I guess its not a major issue and if it is you can always buy the gh5.
I’ve been watching a a lot of videos trying to figure out what camera I wanted to buy and I’ve finally made a decision Thank You for sharing your opinion
You're the one who recommended a6400 for me a a beginner. When I searched for lenses guide for a6400.it was you again that I saw haha. Nice thanks for your videos I'm learning a lot.
This is going to be my 6th Sony camera (5th DSLR - I also have the FS700 because of the slow motion). I agree with you about the 10-18mm lens. It is mind-blowing. I can't wait to get my 6400.
I have A6500 yet I have exactly what you recommend, 10-18/4; 16-70/4; 35/1.8 plus the 55-205mm. I travel light with 4 lenses. And your give away wrist strap by peak design is fantastic; I kept the neck one home. How about the Peak Design 5 lt sling bag, fantastic as well.
Jason, FYI, I have checked with a few vendors including Sony. They have told me that the screen protector would not fit the a6400. They haven't had one that is made for the a6400 yet.
Just pre ordered the a6400! I watch your videos over and over again because I’m just so excited and this is the closest I can get to using it before it releases!
Hey Jason it’s me again , this is the exact video that i’m looking for , so does the weebil lab gimble works perfectly fine with the 6400 with the external attached ?? will the mic interrupts the motor movement? what about the Ulazi bracket as well lol ? thanks !
I love the a 6400. I upgraded from a6000 and I have to say I am soo SOOO HAPPY WITH THE 6400. Quality is spectacular. Has all the perks of 6000 + auto eye focus. Currently using the 30mm 1.4 sigma for potrait photography. at 1.4 my shots are incredible. I don't want or need a canon or nikon.
Great video! I’ve been trying to decide between the 6400 and 6500 for real estate video. The 6500 only so I could use any brand lens with the built in stabilization. But I’m rethinking that.... your video showed me that there are better things with the 6400. I would be using a gimbal too so there is that. Anyway thanks!
Thank you for such informative videos Jason! I got the a6400 just before a big trip I took a couple weeks ago. Broke the SELP1650 kit lens a few days into my trip so bought the SEL1670Z on the road. I'm an amateur photographer and hopeful future lifestyle vlogger once I get back to normal life here, so the new lens was a pretty large unexpected expense to add to my last minute decision to spring for the camera, but I'm looking at the lens filters you recommend and wondering if those are the best for everyday lifestyle vlogging or if you recommend another lens filter (kind of thinking mostly for protecting the lens more than anything)? TIA!
a pleasant day to you Jason Vong. I just bought a sony a6400 yesterday, i'm not a professional photographer but I would like to know aside from those you mention here in these video, will you recommend or can I use the Sony GM 135mm f1.8 which a lot of professional photographer are praising for it's crisp and high speed autofocus? hoping you will answer my question and give me a very good advice. thanx! 😃👍✌
Hi Jason, What type of Microphone are you using to record your videos. and what lense is the best for live streaming and what equipment I should get with Sony A6400 for live streaming ?
Great vid for those of us about to make the jump to the 6400... I'm gonna buy one this week so that Sony can immediately release another new camera for all of you! Seriosuly though, much appreciated!
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema at a good price ! For the A6400 review a lot people was using Full Frame G master lenses... Two times the price of the A6400... We don't even have a 16-50 F2.8 !!!!
@@pop1348 agreed. Fujifilm are the best for their aps-c range. Predominantly because thats their niche market whereas sony are more invested in owning the full frame mirrorless market
what would u recommend? buying a6400 or a6500, apart from IBIS, everything is better in a6400.. I am buying for video shoots,, mostly digital Ads, Music Video and A food you tube channel.. what would u recommend?
Gonna whait for camera with smaller rolling-effect. If not... i'll buy this one as pair for my A7III. Sony are step-to-step getting closer to users. I like they strategy!
I really want the Sigma 1.4 but also want the Sony 10-18mm. I want to restart on making automotive Vlogs. Which would you prefer? I currently have the 18-135mm
Jason!! I upgraded from a Sony NEX, and I tried the NEX pancake lens on the new A6400. The images weren’t too great. It looks like i also need to get a better lens in order to get the best results? I am gonna get a Sony 35mm/f18 prime lens. What do you think? I just want my images to come out sharper, and that old pancake lens is about 6 years old! Help me Obi Wan!
Jason - I'm noticing that the battery is draining even with the camera off. I think there must be an internal battery of some sort to keep the date and time going, and I'm wondering if recharging that battery is why the camera is drawing some power from the main battery while the camera is off. I got a new a6400 and I fully charged the battery. I have not turned the camera on yet. After fully charging the battery in the camera, I left the camera alone (all the while still off) for about 55 hours. When I plugged the camera in to see if the battery would take more charge, it did - it's been charging for more than 15 minutes now. Wondering if you have any thoughts about this? Obviously, we should not keep the battery in the camera when not in use, but I'm really surprised there was enough drain on the fully charged battery from the camera while it was off to warrant needing more than 15 minutes to get back up to full charge.
I guess I need a gimbal since I’m using Sigma 16mm f1.4.. Oh boy, I can’t wait to have my own a6400, right now I use an a6000 which means it will be an upgrade - hoot hoot! More power to you Jason.
I bought the a6400 that came with the 18-135 lens. This is my first camera EVER and I have zero experience so your videos are great! I took this camera with us to Greece and soooo wished I would’ve watched these beforehand. Major learning curve for me but I’ll get there. What lens would you recommend for portrait pics? Looking to start a new blog with lifestyle/motherhood/fashion and recently bought the sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN but haven’t removed it from the box. Is that a decent one? Or should I return for another one?
... I so want this a6400. It appears to be a great second camera and it can shoot for longer than 30 minutes! I need that for performances that I shoot, producing some go-to footage while repositioning myself with the main camera. And its small!! I love it! I have a gimbal as well, so it could live on that gimbal all the time! Very exciting! But when is it shipping? That's the $6400 question! Lol
I recently purchased the a6400. I love it so much I created a video about my first week using it. Don't like the battery life and the grip is new to my hand(was using Nikon D7200). I got a free SD card from Sony but that thing doesnt work in 4k. I gotta save more for lenses and accessories. Any cage recommendation? there's too many.
In GB and much of Europe and Australia, giving the "peace" sign that way (two fingers up, back of hand facing out), is the same as middle finger up in the US... Which is not what you meant, I'm sure, lol! Nice vid, I'm in the market for one one these cameras, ATM... Take care!
I'am also considering about buying a new lens... I take pictures of cars and and make carporns, right now I haven't got a Gimbal so I don't know if I should buy the Sigma 30mm 1.4 or the sony 35mm 1.8?!
I sold my 6500 to get the 6400, but am thinking it would be wise to wait for some sort of 6700 - loving the new auto focus in these new models nevertheless 👍
Great video thank you. Can I ask a question. If I am shooting at low aperture and fixed 1/60 shutter what ND filter should I look to buy if at all...I have not bought the A6400 yet but will be purchasing with the standard lens plus a Sigma f1.4 16mm.
Hello Jason! I have a A6400 & im starting to get into property walkthroughs for my property business, i have a Ronin SC, what lens would you recommend to get a wide view but not a warped look! Many thanks
You mention the 18-135mm is good lens for travel, is that because it can zoom in better? Is the 18-135mm kit lens a good lens for video recording? I am debating on getting this lens or the 16-50 mm. I primary want to shoot photos of my kid and do some video recording on a tripod, plus some traveling. What lens would you recommend to start off with?
I’m wondering if the 16-70 Zeiss is actually a “Zeiss Quality” lens, or not.. because that extra 35mm range of the 18-105 is not bad... btw can’t wait to buy the a6400 !!
Hi! Im about to buy a Sony a6400. I do yoga videos as well as travel and portrait photography. I'm thinking of buying the Sony a6400 body without the kit lenses and maybe just purchasing the Sigma 35mm 1.4. Do you think I should buy the Sony a6400 with one kit lens (if so, which one) and then, purchase this lens as well. I'm looking for something versatile so that I don't need to switch lenses often! I'll be mostly doing photography however, will want to get into video more later on. Would you say kit lens: 16mm-50mm (yoga videos, other travel videos) Sigma Lens 35mm 1.4 (portrait photography) or another OSS lens ?? Let me know!! Also, Sony a6400 vs. Sony a6100??
You should really consider posting your videos on 2:1 aspect ratio. They make a huge difference on most phones nowadays and barely makes a difference on tvs and laptops. So win-win! Thanks for the great tips!
0:26 as a proud owner of A6400 + Tamron 17-70mm, i would like to weigh in here on an alternative option i use. since where i am a battery goes for 100USD, i opted to buy a 27,000 mah power bank for 35USD instead of several batteries. the A6400 can be operated while charging, so when i am low on battery i just stretch out a USB cable from by bag and plug it in as i continue to shoot un interrupted.
Hello Jason , i have preordered the sony a6400 however i'm still confused on choosing the lenses , i am a portrait photographer and focus on bokeh more but sometimes i also do landscape photography. Is it better for me to choose sigma 30mm / 56 mm or zeiss 16-70mm ? Thank you !!
I'm looking to buy the sony a6400, I was looking into the sigma lenses due to the fact that I'll be talking photos and videos on a professional stabilised tripod.. will that be recommended
What about a circular polarizer? It was absolutely a game changer on my Sony Bridge. Isn't it also for a camera like the a6400? Or does it have something already built in?
Preordered on reservation day right at 10am when it opened. 2 weeks later I deleted it. Didnt feel comfortable with the very minor upgrades. AF is the only upgrade I care about but all else looks like rubbish to me...flipscreen... whatever. I'll wait for an A6500 successor. Also, considering dropping Sonys APS-C altogether and just sticking with Fuji.
Hello jason, can you suggest me, the brand and model of the camera that has the following features. 1.mirrorless 2.recording 4k no record limit 3.flip screen to left 4.5axis IS 5. Have mic and headphone jack 6.have hdmi port, usb type c for more power extra (powerbank) 7.have Bluetooth, wifi, nfc 8. Have af and af eye. But I agree with the camera mirroless sony a7iii, the problem is just one, I want the screen to flip and the camera is attached to the ronin's gimbal, because I want to use a7iii for vlogging so I need a display to look my self and microphone along with the gimbal, any suggestions good item?
@@GotJay713 What up Justin......No I have not purchased one yet. Every time I go to purchase the 6400 Sony talks about a new model coming out like the A6700.
When I tested it on a Sony a6400 body with a Sony NEX-7's 18-55mm kit lens, the focal length I wanted was 30mm. The distance between the subject and the camera is 2m. In this case, with a sigma 30mm f1.4 lens or sony 35mm f1.8 lens, the crop body is about 50mm, so if I want to get the 30mm I want, should I look for a 20-24mm lens? Is there a lens you would like to recommend?
Should i get the 16-50 kit lens? Or just the body and get some better lens? I need help asap 😅 im not vlogging but i do take random videos. I love travelling and taking photos of buildings as well
I am looking for the sharpest possible lens to film myself playing/teaching guitar. I have the a6400 with the 16-35 kit lense. 18mm would be perfect. How is the Zeiss Otus 18mm? Or any recommendations anyone? I dont need blurry Background at all.
How bad does the a6400 do without OSS? I stupidly bought the 24mm gmaster, and I’m really stoked about the lens (which hasn’t gotten here yet) but an worried about hand held shooting. I use my camera for vlogging backpacking trips . Also curious if you know of any full frame cameras with a flip screen that don’t cost 3 g’s 🤣 By the way, thanks for your videos. They are teaching me so much (and costing me so much money)
Hey Jason! What would you recommend for someone that needs OSS and would like something faster than f4? I think a 16-50 2.8 would be perfect focal length. I would rock the sigma 16-35 1.8 as well if it had stabilization. I like the 18-105 but it's not great in low light or super sharp for photo. I mostly shoot in the wider focal length
I didn't see any disclosures for potential conflicts of interest? I'm not suggesting your recommendations would be different, but if you are being paid or compensated in any way by Sony for this video (e.g. products, money, travel opportunities), can you please disclose this in the spirit of transparency. You do give shout-outs to some other products (e.g. Sigma lens), but when it comes to the links you post, they favor Sony. Sometimes folks say "Sony did send me this, but I'm free to say whatever I want" but such comments aren't necessarily true. The only reason I bring this up is several of your professional colleagues who love Sony, don't recommend as much Sony gear as you do and I think they have valid points, blah blah, blah, Anyhow, you get what I'm saying. Overall I appreciate your videos and have learned a lot. thanks
Hi Jason, I’m planning on moving to Japan this upcoming year and I want to start vlogging. I believe the Zeiss lens is best, since I want to take a lot of cinematic shots of all the places I visit, as well as vlogging about the history of the places I travel. The only issue is that the lens is very expensive for what I can afford right now, are there any alternatives to this lens that you would recommend? Thanks and I hope you see my comment!
