This is a reasonably well explained attempt to cover and demonstrate the A6500's AF capabilities but it glosses over a few features and settings. 1. With the Focus Area set to Wide, pressing the centre of the control wheel immediately cancels Wide and activates the Center area for a 'focus and recompose' option. This complements the touch-to-set-focus-area feature, which is also cancelled by pressing the control wheel's centre. 2. You showed the Priority Set in AF-S menu option but didn't explain those three settings: where AF prevents the shutter from releasing until the subject is in focus; Release allows the shutter to operate, even if the subject is out of focus; and Balanced Emphasis invokes some sort of magical combination of the other two modes.

There are plenty of times when you say "you have this option" (and that's something we can see by scrolling on our menus) but you don't say what that option is for... Anyway thanks for tying to explain at least some of them.

thanks this was real helpful, maybe you'll use your approach for other options within the a6500 ( i just bought one and couldn't figure out how to open the area opened by the fn button ) . i also learned that the button at af/mf can be used to switch between the two but i would have liked for you to demo. thanks for the help for setting me on my way and enjoy switzerland.

Very good explanation! Thank you! One doubt: with the focus setting at ZONE, can you move the zone with the control wheel while using the EVF? Are there other focus settings that allow to move the focus area with the control wheel while using the EVF? Thanks in advance for your response!

Hi Jay, at somewhere about 7:51 and on you pretty elegantly went around the grayed out menu points AF System and Eye-Start AF, like they were not there at all. However, they are there, and they remain grayed out both with my Sony native 18-105 mm lens, and with Sigma 35mm 1.4F lens. Attempts to enter these points result in a message like, Sorry, not possible with the lens you're using. It was like that with firmware 1.0, and it is still the same with 1.3. THIS is what is really interesting! Do you by any chance know what it is about?

also, for sports is it good to put it on manual focus? I film frisbee

How do you get the brackets to show up when you touch the screen to focus? I can get it to focus, but it doesn't show me the brackets.

Let's say it's April 14th, 2016...and you DON'T have this camera yet.. On April 15th, would you buy this camera, or would you wait til' after the NAB convention is over in late April, to see if Sony drops the a6700 ? I'm on the fence + antsy lol.

There is a way to use the Shutter button to stop video instead of the Video button. How do you get that option ?
