Sony A7iii Hidden Features - Super 35 Mode and Clear Image Zoom

In this video I show you how to get an additional 2 extra focal lengths from your existing lenses using the Sony a7iii. This feature is called Super 35 Mode and Clear Image Zoom and is only available for the Sony Cameras like the a7iii, a7riii, a7r4, a7siii, a6500. This feature is one of the reasons I still haven’t upgraded to the Sony A7s3. I also show you how to use Clear Image Zoom and Super 35 mode, explain the benefits of Super 35 Mode, as well as set it up on your own custom buttons.

I'm using the Super 35mm mode on my A7III in a livestream where I'm "zooming in" my picking hand (guitar player here.. hi drummer Dan!). The placing of the camera on my table and the distance involved, as well as the fact I'm having the 35mm prime on it, makes the Super 35mm mode so versatile. I'm not loosing too much of the image clarity although I'm in the 1080 50p. The reason for the 1080 is that I can't have the 4K 50p on this camera, and the 50p is chosen to present my finger movements a bit more smoothly than in 4K 25p. I've been experimenting with this a lot while testing the 3 camera setup for the livestream, getting annoyed by the audio/video sync issues at first, but then more by the slightly choppy video while recording/streaming, specially the detail reproduction when picking or moving my fretting hand over the guitar neck. Sorry for the long post here, but I'm just eager to help anyone in a similar situation. The tip on trying to use the 50p came from MrCameraJunkie RU-vidr, and it really gave this icing on the cake when adjusting the setup. So I'm using Ecamm to livestream, 5 frames audio delay in the settings, then 2 cameras connected directly through CamLink4K into the M1 Mac Mini's (16GB RAM model) USB ports, and the third camera through an Atem Mini Pro into the Thunderbolt 4 dock with USB-C cable from the Atem. All cameras (Sony A6400 w. 16mm Sigma f1.4 for the headshot, A7III w. Samyang 35mm f2.8 for the picking hand, A5100 w. Sony 18-105 f4 for the fretting hand) are set to 1080 50p 1/100 shutter. I've tried the Clear Image Zoom on the A6400 for a while (as well as that the Ecamm has zoom-in function) so that I could place it a bit further away, but I think I'm getting a sharper image when not engaging any of these options. And if anybody's wondering why I'm not using the A7III as the headshot camera, well, the A6400 AF seems a bit better when I'm moving a lot while playing in my livestreams. I love this mode, cheers for the vid! I've come to realize that my 20mm 1.8 G will serve as my goto from now on. It's great for vlogging, closeups, good bokeh and with apsc-mode AND clear zoom it has the reach of a 45mm :D and when I need more I have the 55 1.8 Zeiss, and the same applies there. So two tiny lenses, and a whole lot of uses. Have you noticed any autofocus troubles while in these modes? I've heard it gets a bit slower.

Hello friend! I have a 7SIII, do you know if there is also this zoom setting? I bought a Sony 200-600mm and I'm missing the zoom to shoot sports (surf) I'm thinking about buying a 2x duplicator, but I'm in doubt because I read some comments that the duplicator from 250mm loses focus.

u ppear to contradict yourself towards enf of this piece - 1080p can or cannot be used with CIZ? - its unclear! this feature is ubnatched by orer makers, I think. maevellous. unless you fork out ääää for a Leixa q3, which fives only range of its fixed lens. all A7s' have CIZ. - FF cameras start with advantage over XIZ on crop-sensor cameras, of course, I think. your daughter, is a scene stealer... )I wonder what cameras will be like, when she gets older?
