If your all about into full frame I would say go for canon mark II or for Mirror less (alternative) Sony a7 can go in sale, or go for aps c Sony a6000-6500
@Levi It's really tricky right now though. I just barely started out and covid-19 has crippled the industry. Even veterans with 10-20 years of professional work have shut down temporarily or gone bankrupt. The only thing I can do at home now with all the lockdowns is to create free content and send it out to companies hoping they could refer me to someone.
So I’ve shot both systems extensively, and must say I like both for different reasons. I just went back to Fuji for ergonomics and the glass and color science. However, when I shot in a dimly lit church this past Sunday, I missed my Sony a7iii. The Sony is better at getting the job done, but Fuji is more fun to shoot. Sony wins in low light and even sharpness in certain situations. So, Fuji for now, since I sold all Sony stuff...
Looooved this video! Just Got my own Fujifilm X-T3 and this video is part of the reason. I actually did a video with my first impression of the camera, and I gotta day, I was surprised. I’ve used canon my whole photography life, but it’s always felt like the shoe didn’t quite fit right with me. The style and feeling of canon just wasn’t my cup of tea. Now the shoe finally fits and I feel more motivated than ever, with my Fuji xt3.
Anyone noticed how differently people react to some cameras? When I carried a silver Nikon FE around, everyone loved it and wanted to have their photo taken. Not so much with a big DSLR. Silver X-T3 looks like it could have that kind of calming effect :D Or the PEN F, for that matter.
I think it has to do with trends and times. Now in days it seems especially with the 'social media generation' most of the young feel only inclined to Nikon and Sony model cameras. The older, grown and more experienced photographers will be using the likes of Canon, Fujifilm and Panasonic. And you can always spot a Olympus or two among your travels anywhere but the US.
@@eddyblanco7210 "more experienced" jeez that's so pompous. Sure I'm a young guy and I shoot Sony, but most young people I see are naive canon shooters. They buy entry level t6s or equivalent, and talk about how pro it is. At best they'll have a 70d. Entry level full frame. They talk how much better their camera is despite Sony's superior low light, superior video, superior dynamic range, better frame rate in burst etc. Beyond that, the older folks in my area shoot with a very outdated style and their photos all look very bland. Just because someone is "more experienced" doesn't mean they're better. Especially if they buy the wrong equipment for the job in sake of brand loyalty. If I was a videographer full time I'd have an xt3 or bmpcc4k. If I was a higher level shooter is use a medium format Fuji. But I would never buy an 70d and try to shoot sports with it (people actually tried to do that in my town).
Thanks very much. You have said it all. In my view, it all boils down to ergonomics, personal tastes, and infrastructure. If you cannot shoot outstanding photos and video with either camera, there is something wrong with the photographer not the camera system. I also appreciate your approach to the review. My personal preference is toward the Fuji, simply because I started photography with a Nikon F Photomic and a Nikkormat, and really appreciate the manual dials for adjusting things. No messing around with menus, button placements, which button does what, etc. etc. Keep the reviews coming!!
Thank you, I agree with that, personal preferences is IMO the most important deciding factor when buying a camera, since most of cameras on the market can do the job.
The ergonomics is why I am leaning towards the Nikon Z6. I liked the Fuji X-T3 ergonomically, but it is hard to look beyond IBIS and FF. I tried the Sony, but I could not get along with it. It felt too "machine-like". There was no emotional connection to the camera.
if you just into photography, fuji is definitely great camera. but once you start doing photo and video both and need to change it in matter a second. fuji camera is a pain. from manual mode into video i need to change the shutter to adjust to frame rate and then iso and aperture. Done with that, if i want to do slow mo, i need to change again the SS to adjust to frame rate. If i want back to photo again, i need to adjust all of that again. Its so much pain. and then i realised why sony camera is so easy to use because they have dedicated Custom Dial. with just 1 rotate you are done.
In the long run; It is all in the preference of the one using the camera. Not which camera is 'Better' as no camera is really better as to which one fits your needs based on what you are photographing. In my long 20+ years tenure with Canon from 35mm film photography to digital, I did go fujifilm in the end for mirrorless format. I have gone from full frame back down to crop, but nothing much has changed. I have used Nikon, Sony, Panasonic and Olympus models and again; It is more towards the person/artist using the camera and which feels more comfortable with them. I am just used to manual settings and dials so the X-T3 got my vote there. The ergonomics and size difference between both the A7III & the X-T3, the Sony is terribly small in my hands and I don't necessarily have a big grip. Plus, Fujifilm incorporated it's film stock into the camera's technology so that's a throwback to my early days. I get the best of both worlds and tacked on a additional point for me. But again; That is me and why I choose Fujifilm over Sony. Maybe for the next photographer, they will be looking for the opposite to which the Sony will be the better choice for them. Maybe even a Nikon Z6 or Pasasonic Lumix GH5.....
I always wanted to buy a sony. Im a fuji x user and sony is really compelling. However, the price is really high id rather stick with aps-c and invest on lenses and gimbal. Its much cheaper. Yeah its nice to have it in-body but for video, there is so much control with gimbal rather than your own hands. Just saying though. But sony is years ahead in their line-up
Fuji I LOVE your flip SCREEN concept! They have in my opinion the best flip screen arrangement on the marked. Makes high/low photo a breeze compared to the Panny/Oly/Canon idea where you have to flip it all the way out before rotating etc which makes you miss the moment. 100% cudos to Fuji here. This vlogging-thingy is just for a few users compared to the large amount of photographers out there.
@@JohnSmith-hm8xl I disagree Sony is a really great camera and the full frame is good, but to me it's not worth the extra money and get less features. As a video creator I rather have the XT3. the body's cheaper, the lens are cheaper, it has a lot of video features like 4K 60 frames per second. and it also does really good job for photos too. as far as the in-body stabilization I'm okay with using stabilizers and as for for frame its overrated..LOL. oh and also carry extra batteries..
@@DaddyJamesFilms Owh I'm sorry, I didn't know that. I was reviewing by myself some cameras before when I wanted to buy mirrorless last year. Many people said the disadvantages of fuji like the iso is darker and has more noises on a higher iso, only has a few third parties lens companies, and a bit overpriced fast lenses. Maybe I should have researched more about the advantages of fuji camera besides what people always said about the shooting experiences and the dial control. Yeah I think fuji cameras are good too, I hope they will put an ibis on the next x-t lines, especially on the small one the x-txx series. :)
I always drop everything I’m doing when I see a notification from you. Another great review. I ha e the A7 III and love it but man the X-T3 is tempting!
I suspect that the a7000 will "destroy" the X-T3 and the X-H1 in one go, but this is only a suspicion, because Sony isn't very leaky. The a7000 is rumored to be positioned as a mini a9. Press event already scheduled for January.
I had an A7II partnered with the Zeiss 55mm 1.8. Man that combo was amazing, images and videos were so sharp. However, now that I've sold it a few months ago. I'm really interested in the Fujifilm, one of the downsides I found when I had the A7II was that the lense prices were insanely high.
I'm also in the middle of buying a new camera and considering these 2 options. I love the Full frame sensor, but I'm also attracted to the 4K60fps from that Fuji. I come and go between these cameras. Hopefully I will make up my mind soon enough :)
@@jdtaillant wow this is quite an old comment, I ended up buying the A7III and still have it, it is a great camera and the lens lineup that Tamron has come up with made it easier to transition as they are more affordable than Sony lenses
Great video! In one of your videos, you said that the A7iii produced the sharpest video, even against the Nikon Z6, the Fujifilm X-T3 and the Lumix S1! How dose the sharpness of the A7iii compare to the A6400/a6600? Are they the same? Is there a difference? Thank you so much!!
Thank you for your wonderful and objectrive review throughout. I have an inquiry. I am just a hobbist who wants to take good picture and video during travelling and as such may not want to do post- production for all thousands of my photos. Therefore having good color straight off camera is important to me and personally I do not prefer sony's color. May I know is there a setting I can do in the a7iii to mimic fuji's or canon's color in jpeg / in camera instead of through post production? Thank you!
On the XT3, do you know that you can customize all the dials and buttons to certain functions by pressing and holding the display button? I'm referring to 6th minute
Thank you for the great review. I wish you had shot video with the Fuji handheld to see the difference in lack of IBIS. I have a question that you might be able to help me with - Will the Fuji shoot video with minimal camera shake if it's lens is stabilized - such as the kit 18-55 lens? Is it comparable to the Sony? I'm currently a A7III owner (24-105 F4 lens) but the wife and I are finding it too large for it's primary usage - spontaneous 4k video and stills of our kids. We were very interested in the Fuji XT3 because of the price and look, but shied away because it lacked IBIS. We will mostly be shooting handheld - no gimbal (we're already a bit embarrassed by it's current size and don't wish to add more equipment walking around our neighborhood). There's also a huge difference in price (current setup was $3600 vs $2200 for the Fuji). Which one do you think is best for long term based on our usage? Thanks again.
I used to have the A6500, almost bought the X-T2 back then. Now have the A7III. But since the X-T3 came out, I wish my Sony had 10-bit video 422 hdmi at 4K DCI 60p. The GH5 doesn’t even do that. I’ve tested Fuji’s autofocus, and it’s comparable to A6500 (A7III is still ahead). Man. I wish I could own both Fuji and Sony systems at the moment. Or that Sony do something amazing with A7SIII or A7IV.
Have you tried a running gimbal test with the XT3 and 16-55? That's probably the most practical heavy set up I'd go but I'm concerned about the stability or lack thereof. The price difference between a7iii tamron 28-75 combo and xt3 16-55 combo isn't enough to cover upgrading my smaller gimbal to a ronin s or moza air 2
Thanks for a good comparison. I have the Fujifilm X-T1 and X-T2 and two months ago bought the Sony A7iii, because I wanted to try full frame. I love my Fuji colors and great lens, but with the larger sensor and great low light performance I prefer the Sony. The Sony 24-240mm lens f3.5-6.3 is an amazing lens and surprisingly sharp and sells for a reasonable price. The Sony 24-105mm is considered to be even better, but I couldn't find that big a difference in image quality and sharpness when I tried the lenses out. I do miss the film camera feel of the Fuji with dials, but am getting used to the Sony menu.
@@TheHybridShooter well we will see. They need to compensate the poor low light capabilities compared to Sony. They can upgrade the sensor, sure, but the best way is sensor shift
@@Nulrom once Sony introduces an a7sii replacement, then it's over for most companies. By this time they'll have a full frame camera that can oversample 6k to 4k, shoot 10bit and 4k 60. And if they are smart they'll do it native 6k instead of downsampling it. Their cameras already pack class leading sensors (with exception to the Nikon z6) they just need to offer better video bitrates and 4k 60.
@@leecason9468 as far as video capabilities I agree with you, Sony has the edge. But Photographers doesn't care about video. The majority. The majority are not wedding shooters that can think about getting decent videos for work. They shoot for fun, for having a good time. I would like a good camera with IBS that has nice little lenses and a good sensor and dials. Sony can give me only some of this things and Fuji too. Fuji lacks of IBS that is a must go for low light and smaller sensors.
I apologize that this is little off topic. I own the X100f & XPro2, but have always been interested in Sony's FF system. Today, the A7ii with kit is on sale for $1000. Is it worth buying?
it would open you up to get into FF glass from sony, which can be pretty epic, and you know the A7iii is compatible, use the A7ii until you have some glass, and wait for the A7iii to get cheaper (with the speed sony release cameras it might not be too long) :D
If you have the money, I would try the A7ii. Sony makes a great camera and being able to switch out lens makes a big difference. I do enjoy a Fuji X100f but I will probably be selling it. It's a great camera. I take it with me on family stuff where I just want jpeg and maybe shoot some RAW if I need to, but limited to the lens. If you like the a7ii, you will absolutely love the A7iii. I have the A7iii and Fuji X100f and the XT20. I use the Sony when I shoot mostly RAW and if I'm doing fun stuff I use the X100f or the XT20 and shoot in RAW/JPEG.
I have the a7iii and I'm considering getting the XT-3. I'm retiring (from wedding video) in a few months and the Sony isn't really fun to shoot anymore. I do still need a good / decent video camera since I still have 5 weddings. Can the Fuji write across both SD cards? Backup.
Thanks for another great comparison. I must admit I am leaning more towards Fuji as time goes on. I was going to upgrade my body to the G9, but not sure now if I should move over to Fuji. Looking forward to your XT-3 / G9 comparison
@@dkairouks G85 is half the price though. In comparison with the G9 and dual IS (IBIS and lens IS) there is a huge difference and it will compensate for much more than 2 stops. The difference between X-T3 sensor and G9 / GH5 sensor is far from 2 stops below ISO 6400 if you take into account that Fuji produces 2/3 of a stop darker images at given ISO. I will make a video about that soon.
As I have said, the comparison with G85 is not very relevant because of the price difference, so I was not commenting on that. I'm not talking about metering either. If shoot for example at ISO 800, 1/50s and F2.8 on both Panasonic and Fujifilm, Fujifilm shot will be about 2/3 thirds stop darker, as shown in the video. So comparing ISO 3200 on Panasonic and Fujifilm is actually not apples to apples comparison. You need to use ISO 5000 instead of 3200 on Fuji to get the same exposure.
@@dkairouks As I have said, this has nothing to do with metering. Fuji sensor is just less sensitive at given ISO in comparison to other manufacturers, that is all. Two shots of living room are more than enough to show that, it is very simple and It is well know fact, take a look other comparisons. I'm happy with my testing process, so I don't intend to reevaluate that.
@@dkairouks I agree that Fujifilm X-T3 make great photos, but that is not what we were discussing. Metering is very important, but as I have said it has nothing to do with the topic. Both shots at 2:34 were shot using manual mode, so metering was not used at all. Settings on both Sony and Fuji are same, but Fuji shot is about 2/3 of a stop darker and it is the same when you compare it to Panasonic or Canon. That happens in every scene if you use same ISO, shutter speed and aperture, so one shot of a living room is indeed enough to showcase that.
I loooove the design of sony and fuji, unlike the bulky dslr look that canon and nikon went for in the mirrorless. Not gonna lie, it plays a role in me choosing the camera
Great video, as always! I was wondering how do you manage 4K video clips recorded at 400Mb/s?? What bitrate do you use for rendering your reviews, and what filesize do you get for a 15 min video? Do you use tons of storage? With every new camera I buy, my family movies are becoming larger and larger... Maybe a video on this subject? Keep on the good work!
Thank you, the cameras that I use for my production (A7 III and Panasonic G9 + GX9) "only" shoot 100 Mbps, so I use that. 1 minute of recording is about 1.1 GB. I export in 100 Mbps. I have 10 TB of HDD capacity at the moment + 10 TB off-side backup, but I will have to get new hard drives soon. It is interesting topic, thank you for suggestion.
Thank you again for the very balanced review. It is a shame that the X-T3 doesn't have IBIS (and that the a7 III doesn't have a higher bitrate video codec and that it doesn't have 10-bit video nor 4K 60fps). In this comparison you had a very short clip with the X-T3 on a Crane 2 Gimbal and it looked a little bumpy to me. Have you had a chance to use the X-T3 on a gimbal more since you recorded the video? Do you think on a gimbal the X-T3 video is as smooth as a6500 or a7 III??? Or do you think that with IBIS the a6500 and a7 III are a little smoother even when using on a gimbal?
@@BLiu1 Good to keep in mind. I am not sure how heavy his rig is but I think the crane v2 should be able to handle up to 1,800 grams. I know the original Crane (which I own) can handle up to 1,800 with the firmware upgrade.
Fuji is not customer friendly. I sent my XT-2 for repair although working with LCD but broken EVF. They quoted $495 for repairs which I refused as new Camera is on sale for $799 with 1 yr warranty. I took it to local shop but Fuji has refused to sale the part and want to keep the monopoly and making it mandatory to repair it from for exorbitant cost. I emailed and had a call but did not get any response. If you go by other cameras like Nikon and Fuji they can be locally repaired. I will suggest to future Fuji buyers to think on this aspect because you not only buy Camera but lenses and accessories which is very costly to switch to other gears if Fuji screws customer for repairs.
1.5 years later what also comes into play is the increasingly huge price difference. I can get an X-T3 for just over 1000€, while an A7III still costs around 1750€.
I'm so amazed at your video capturing skills. Why don't you make a tutorial on the setting you use for video capture? Which camera and lens did you use to shoot 0:30 fuji-xt3 shot?
I would LOVE to see an image comparison of the x-pro 1 and the x-pro 3. With everything set exactly the same. Not saying the 3 is not better, I'm sure it is. just want to see all things being equal does the magic of the first gen still shine!
@@TheHybridShooter If you had to choose 1 which would it be? I have 6 children that are quick! Need great AF, and the least fiddly overall option. I'm an advanced photographer but am ditching dslr Canikon for probably an A7III. Living way up in North Dakota can't test any of them. Thanks for your thoughts! ~C
Love the review. I am looking to get mirrorless. I am between these two. I mainly shoot for hobby - travel, streets, buildings, pics of my wife. I am looking to have one good macro lens, one walk around, one tele - what would you recommend??
A lot of the Fuji lens sucks for continuous Auto focus, they are slow and make a lot of noise, bear that in mind if you are a video shooter and you rely on auto focus (ie vlogger/gimbal).
I'm so late on this, but really debating the Sony a7iii, Nikon z6 or the Fuji XT3. I mainly travel and do portraits recreationally but please Hybrid Shooter, steer me in the right direction!
Take a look at my new comparison with X-T4, that is a bit more conclusive - bit.ly/SonyA7IIIvsFujiXT4 Unless you already have a lot of Nikon lenses, I would recommend A7 III over Z6.
Excellent comparison, sir! I have a question...I have zero experience with Sony, and have been a Fujifilm-X shooter for about 8 years, first with an X-Pro1. My main interest is obtaining the sharpest, most detail-rich images as possible, given the constraints of time and funds. As a landscape and product STILLS X-T3 shooter (no video), lately I feel like I've gotten the most out of the APS-C format, hence I have been debating on selling my Fuji kit (reluctantly), and moving into FF, specifically the Sony a7Rlll and lenses like the Sony 16-35 f/2.8 GM, Sony FE 55 f/2.8, and the 90mm f/2.8 G Macro . Since I shoot 99% tripod-mounted, neither IBIS nor video interests me. So, my question is, for large print output (around 24"x 36" prints), how much of an improvement in terms of image sharpness, detail rendition, dynamic range, base ISO performance, etc., would I see over the already excellent X-T3 (combined with the ultra-sharp Fujinon XF80mm f/2.8 Macro lens), when using the a7Rlll and the Sony 90mm f/2.8 G Macro or Sony 16-35 f/4 tripod-mounted? Thank you.
That depends on how you publish your pictures. You need to print the pictures at pretty large format or use very solid digital publishing platform to see the difference.
I’ve been working with the g85 for about a year and I really like it but I am now looking to get into a system that is a better all around video/photos/time lapses/ night time lapses.... I have considered the gh5 but I just feel like the m4/3 sensor is really lacking in the photo department. I don’t have a ton of lenses and would rather switch things completely up before I get to far into LUMIX system. If you had to chose between these 2 systems all around what would you recommend? I’m no professional photographer/videographer but I produce music professionally and just want to showcase that with images and video. I have the Mavic pro 2 and am looking to pair something with it. Anyone’s opinion would be appreciated!! 🙏
GH5 or G9 have significantly better IQ and processing in comparison with G85, so there would be an improvement. It generally depends on your preferences, I will make a comparison between the X-T3 and G9 soon, that might help you.
@@TheHybridShooter Excellent! 2 birds with one stone.. I was going to reply to TiredEyes that the G9 would probably be a nice upgrade option, especially if the Lumix workflow/shooting experience is valued. And I was going to suggest that from your findings it would seem that a G9 vs X-T3 comparison would be a great one. I've got a GH4 and a G9. Love them both. GH4 can really deliver the goods at a high level of quality with thoughtful shooting and post production (video & stills), but the G9 in my experience (for what I do) deliver's amazingly right out of the camera.
Also, adapting Canon glass to the Sony using the MC-11 is much better than adapting Canon glass to Fuji. They do have adapters for Fuji but I dont find them as reliable.
Great video, good work and very unbiased, I agree with pretty well everything you said. Like many, I love both of these cameras but you have to choose one system and stick to it or out gets too expensive with lenses. I used to use a GH5 with M Zuiko pro lenses for video and it was really fantastic but was only reasonable for photos in my estimation however the auto focus on video was really a pain in the backside so I swapped systems. I use an A7Riii for photography and chose the A7iii for video because of the lenses. Waiting for the A7Siii for video or the A7000. The Sony's are really great cameras but omg the lenses are expensive, the G masters are truly brilliant but I had to sell my mother and sister to get them.
Thank you so much for this!!! I bought the Fuji and before it even arrived I was disappointed that it wasn't full frame. My plan was to send it right back and get the sony.. but after your video I might have made the right decision.. I'm too new to know what is best!! But I feel slightly confident about the fuji now... THANK YOU! i will consult adorama tomorrow and some friends to figure it out! Am I missing too much without full frame? If not.. i think the Fuji might be perfect and I can keep the camera that arrived today!!!! THANK YOU!
I actually was going through almost the same thing this week but between the a7ii and the fuji xt30. I felt like not getting a full frame sensor would eventually become an issue, but the more I have looked into it the more confident I am in purchasing the fuji xt30 instead. If you want a great comparison check out Andy Mumford's videos on it. He is a professional photographer that uses the xt3 and xt30
i'm using canon but i want to buy another camera, can you tell me which one is better in your opinion? and also does the vintage type of picture depend on the camera or the way we edit? tysm💓
great review as usual you do a great wonderful job and i i always stop to watch your videos, I am on the fence between xt3 and a7iii and would love to see a video on these features (all in which the sony does not have) 1-did you try the pre-shot mode on xt3 (is it like the G9) 2-how was the the incamera raw feature of the xt3 (is it like the G9) 3-how is the focusing tools for the xt3 seems like a lot tolls to use for manual focus 4-what do you think about panorama mode? 5-what about the multi image overlay? Is it any good? 6-How about the sports mode? 7-how good is the time lapse? 8-what about RGB live histogram? 9-how about the swipe feature and the touch to shot on xt3? all these are features that are pushing me towards the xt3, I hope with your expertise you would do a video on these features
Only negative answer I have to your questions is that I find the panorama function doesnt always stitch that well, sometimes I need a second go at it, but I'm never in a hurry when needing this function. Everything else about the camera has impressed me coming from a canon 5d4.
I was in love with fuji, but after i do video, i cant do it with my fuji. i sold my fuji and change to Sony just because 1 thing. Fuji is not optimised for people who do photo and video. From Photography change to video, i need to change all the settings (Shutter speed, ISO, Aperture, etc). And then from Video to slow mo, i need to adjust again the SS to correct it with frame rate. and then if i want to suddenly change again to photography, i need to change all of the settings again. Where in Sony, there s already Custom Dial to save that Preset. So in Sony i have M dial for photography, Dial 1 for 4k 24p (most video) and Dial 2 for Slow mo 1080 120p. all of them just so easy. Only if Fuji can do that, i will be back to Fuji.
@@TheHybridShooter yes with silent movie mode. i mean even with silent movie mode, you need to Adjust alot if you want to go from 4k 24p to 1080 120p. where with sony is just 1 dial away.
Question. If I get a speedbooster for my Fuji XT3 and adapt Full Frame Canon glass, would my photos look the same as a Full Frame camera basically? I don't quite understand how Speedboosters work. Thanks!
I'm using Sony A7R3. I have some issues you're not talking about. All is very positive matter but... 1. Menu system is terrible, messy and difficult to use in professional condition. 2. The rolling wheel is a nightmare getting into the sound volume setting when turning. 3. Delay to give the hand back for shooting after review is very bad when need quick reaction. 4. Cleaning of the sensor is a very often duty due probably to some grease coming from the mechanism. But some qualities are real improvements as the battery life and the quality of images. But a little bit "clinic feeling" compare to Canon for instance who give more shallows and warmness that I love to see on my black and white images. For that reason I kept my lenses gear in Canon EF Mount with Sigma Art series including Sigma lens adaptor. Unfortunately autofocus is not fast and reliable with some of my Canon Lenses as for instance the L135mm 2.0.
I have talked about the menu system. You can add level to the Fn menu, which works great. I much prefer accurate Sony colors over warm unrealistic Canon colors that might be more appealing to general public, so that is a matter of preference. A7 III also has a bit improved color science over A7R III.
@@TheHybridShooter Thanks. But anyway Fn menu is not enough to compensate some incomprehensible terms used and the stupid sort and submenu of items. Also some undesired and unexpected changed in parameters never append to me with Canon and is directly linked to ergonomic. You said that 7A3 is better color science than A7R3. Sorry to say that it should be updated. But really, Canon is more neutral but who really care when using programs to change everything with post prod programs. (I'm using Capture One). Also a lot of gamma are possible with the Sony for vidéo and steadies. The quality of image I was talking about is in the way to manage light, principally in low iso that is more close to analog films on Canon even the old 5dII. Sony is a cold clinic camera. Just important to know it.
@@bernaro Canon is absolutely not neutral, that is just a fact, it has the most unrealistic colors, you can take a look at the testing charts. It may be a matter of preference but in terms of the image quality, dynamic range, colors and everything else, Sony is must much better than Canon in every way IMO.
Nice review, as usual. I know the focus of this and most of your videos is on gear, not travel, but it would be very cool if you could identify some of the great locations you shoot in small print in the video or maybe in the description.
It's almost as if being a year newer lets cameras have more capabilities... I have an X-E3 for daily use and an a7Riii as my FF camera. I like both of them but Fuji crushes Sony in menu usefulness.
@@cinialvespow1054 I have and it doesn't work for me, because it changes exposure settings to preset as well. I just want to be able to change the resolution / frame rate / picture profile... by one button press and one tap on the screen like on Panasonic.
I Struggled between which camera to buy between these 2. and I ended up going with the fuji for the 4k 60p and 10-bit log footage. Also the fuji has a bit higher image resolution than then the a7iii. The only thing I was a bit worried about, is buying into a camera system with no full frame options. Note: The grip is awful on the X-t3. You basically need to get the external grip
@@SkipperGeffen Yeah still a little nervous about that. And everyone was saying how the lenses are small and light weight, and they convinced me. Only to realize I like big lenses, it feels higher quality/ more professional.. But all that to say I still wouldn't get the Sony over the Fuji. But maybe Panasonic new full frame.
I have the a7sii. And I don't like to shoot with it. I can never get the colors the way I want them without tons of color correcting(for video), and it so hard to memorize where all of the settings are lol I did here that a7iii fixed the color issues. But I am still skeptical.. Pictures are great with it though!
Please make a Panasonic G9 vs FUJI XT-3 video soon! This is a inevitable BATTLE, please do (1) Detail High ISO comparison, since Fuji cheap with its ISO. I wonder if Panasonic G9 might acturally produce cleaner & brighter iso3200 than Fuji XT-3. Also do a 20 fps - high speed tracking comparison. Who has the higher keeper rates?
And one more question for you: How does the 1080p at 30fps and 60fps of the X-T3 compare to the same 1080p of the a7 III? I know you said at 120fps the 1080p of the a7 III is better than the 1080p of the X-T3. But did you get to test them together at 30fps and 60fps (or 25fps and 50fps)?
Honestly I didn't test that since I only shoot 4K. Sony has pretty good 1080p but you need to sharpen it a bit in post, because Sony is very conservative with sharpening. According to reviews Fuji has very good 1080p quality as well.
1. with the batterygrip: yes / without: not sure :D 2. the stabilization of the kit lens is great in my opinion (compared to canons lens stabilization)
Re- ISO comparison. They use different ISO standards therefore that comparison is not like for like. I see many youtubers get this wrong and never correct this when told otherwise. Fuji and a few others use the SOS (Standard Output Sensitivity) standard whereas Sony and Canon and others use the REI (Recommended Exposure Index). They're competing standards and not the same.
I don't think there is a reason why users should care about that, Fuji just gives you different results than other manufacturers with same settings, which is just not a good IMO, so I see nothing to correct there.
you can use ISO 3200, 6400, 12800 or higher on APS-C without problem, it just depends on the situation, they always say, look so many noise, but they always zoom in at 100% on the picture, if you just watch the picture without cropping or zooming, there is no problem. And if there is a lot of noise, turn the picture black and white and it looks fine.
Awesome review as always man, btw, there was another review for both camera as well, there is an advantage for the X-T3. they compared both sony A7iii and X-T3 1080p vids. X-T3 has better quality ( actually destroyed a7iii ) in 1080p . in 4k not much of a dif but a slight advantage (DR only ) for the sony due to the FF sensor but for flexibility, Fuji is way better . if you shoot mostly 1080p Fuji would be a great choice. no wrong choice for both cams though. its really just a matter of preferences imo.
Thank you, honestly buying either of these to shoot 1080p is a waste IMO. In 2018 4K should be standard for any serious production. Sony actually has very good 1080p quality, it is just conservative with sharpening, I have made a video about that.
The Aps-c Sensor is what's not interesting at all for us Photographer and Portrait shooter. Otherwise everyone would have sold their Sony A7 line or Canon 5D line and bought the cheaper Fuji Xt3 already. Just like when Canon 7d had better specs than 6d but photographers bought 6D because it was full frame. Fuji could have closed that market if they would have went full frame but they instead went medium format which doesn't have as good video specs, not as many lenses and too pricey.
Pretty good video. The focus point is silly though as you can simply change the focus speed on the fuji to make it "smooth" or lightning fast or however you want it. Face tracking is where Sony is ahead in auto focus, although Fuji has video eye auto focus which sony lacks completely.
2.15 I am really interested in learning photography and videography, but i noticed a lot people edits their photos until it looks different from reality altho the edited pictures turn out BEAUTIFULLY (no doubt). I cant help but feel the "fakeness" , and i really dont know how to feel about this :'(
IamNinjaOfNinja I was in the same ball park until I took someone suggestion and do heavy editing on a picture. Go nuts with a raw duplicate and after 2 weeks of toying around I really like heavy editing in a sense. It is not about the real or fake, it is the mood, the story you wanna convey in the picture. Sure if you like something raw and saved that moment, go for the realism look. But I do believe now that every picture have a mood to them and that has change my way of shooting photos a lot.
Hi . Bro pl suggest me which should i buy fuji xt30 vs sony a6400 My priority is completing with a 6400but my biggest priority is the image should be very beautiful. Just like if we click a pic from iPhoneit is very short per and very attractive as compared to the other normal phone. Similarly I just wanted to know that is a pic click by Fuji camera is lot better than the sony 6400 or is it the same, just a minor difference . If the difference is big then I would consider Fuji and if the difference is just a lil, fuji image is bit slightly better but not so much difference ,then I would go for soniye 6400. On RU-vid Fuji has created a lot of hype of their colour presets . Pl suggest Ps. I dont wont to go in post processing work as i am a fresher and dont have lot of knowledge of post processing.
